It's calculated on the Profile Viewer page, found by clicking on the user's name.
RobJN is right Khedrac. Posts per day is one of the things not listed on the memberlist. (Another thing I sometimes look at is the last date that someone has posted. It gives me a rough idea if they might reply to me or not.)

No, me. I'm apparently 11 by post count..
Alas, Thorn's Chronicle does not meet the requirements for its own forum.

Thanks (but that's even slower than dropping it into a spreadsheet...)

Oh certainly, but now do that for every poster so you can sort the table by posts per days will takes ages - faster to use a formula...

Why did you type in the text when you could have just copied and pasted it?

I think that would be because he had nowhere to copy "Took ~30 seconds, including typing this text." from, unlike my profile information... :P

It used to take me ages and ages and ages to write on of the stat posts in my Forum Ranks (and posting stats for each rank) *spoilers*.

That's why I said what I said about not having a social life. It wasn't just being on here, it was spending two or three hours counting people at different ranks and stuff.

And, when I was chasing Havard (and was miles behind him) I was checking his posts per day and my posts per day to see how much I would have to "step up my game" to catch him up. (And I decided that, if I stayed in every day for a month and didn't do anything except post on The Piazza, I might just about be able to catch him. I didn't cheat either. I just spoke to more people about D&D stuff I didn't know about and learned stuff faster than before.)

(This was kind of why some people were calling the high-poster's freaks, but I'm glad we have dropped that nickname, as it sounds kind of rude if you are not in on the joke.)

OK, that goes beyond not having a social life into not having a life. While I don't have much of a social life, I do have a number of thing to keep me busy and off the internet at times, not simply work.

Still, it definitely takes dedication, but I am not sure if that is a good thing....

Well I'm not that crazy about it any more. I don't mind if Havard catches me up now. :)

When you say «was» what do you compare it to? A previous date?

We need a new pie chart for the Freaks of the Piazza. ;)

Yes. 16 June 2017. Both days are linked to from the original post. (When we get the table tag fixed, things will be easier to read.)

(The date looks wrong on the second one, as it took me over a day to finish working out the post. The date is the date that I copied down the stats, rather than the date I posted.)

It's interesting to see how quickly the new forums have progressed.

You can also see that specific posters, have helped give some of the smaller forums a boost.

Given that this is an uber-nerd-level topic about The Piazza creating new communities for less-well-known campaign settings, rather than an uber-nerd-level topic about individual Piazza posters writing a lot, you probably need a different sort of section for your "Faith of The Piazza" document.

Perhaps it could be the "New Forum Testament"! :P

Well your "I don't have a social life" number is currently 0.29 ppd. (Mine is 6.24 ppd.)

You are currently behind froglegg on page 7 of The Piazza leaderboard. (Froglegg only has 0.04, so I think you can leap past him. #DYSWIDT)

Alzirus (0.11 ppd) might stay ahead of you for a while, but I think you will eventually catch him. But Mike Myler also has 0.29 ppd, so I think you will struggle to ever catch him.

Sarastro Magnifico has 0.21 ppd, so you will probably catch him eventually, but not too quickly.

Everyone else ahead of you on your page is also listed as 0.04 ppd, so if you want to prove you have no social life, and get onto page 6 of the leaderboard, you might be able to do it, assuming there are some slow people on page 6 that you and Mike Myler can steal the slots from. ;)
I assume ppd is posts per day?

Yes, I have a couple of problems with pushing it up - one is that my main board to lurk at is GiantITP so I post there rather more often than here, and I am also more of a lurker than a poster :(
The other is that my work varies between "working flat out with no time to look at the PC with internet access" and "spend (nearly) all day on the internet because I have nothing to do" (our part of the project is effectively done so we spend most of our time waiting on others). Now this latter sounds good, but my work PC usually gets a network access error on these forums whenever I browse into a sub-forum, something it doesn't seem to do anywhere else. It's not a blocked website as that is a different message (found that out with Project Gutenberg), it just rarely works from my office. It could be something to do with the routing as the network portal is usually in Germany even though I work int he UK (which really messes up listening to the cricket on the BBC).

So yes, just because I don't spend my life posting on here doesn't mean I have a social life (one of the reasons why I grabbed a custom forum title last year) but I will see what I can do to rectify my miserly post count.
You have moved up from page 7 of the leaderboard to page 5 of the leaderboard. That's not too bad for someone who doesn't have enough time to prove they don't have a social life. ;)

Your posts per day (ppd) has risen to 0.30 (one hundredth of a post per day more than before). I can't be bothered to check everyone above you on page 5, but you are posting more than most of them, so I'm guessing you will get up to page 4 or page 3 within the next year.

I'd say "nice to know" but I am not really sure if it is actually "nice", it's certainly interesting.
Now having a work connection that lets me access the forums certainly helps (not sure if that came from changing work location or when our company portal moved to the USA), but I also cannot but wonder if most of the people I am passing no longer use the forums?

You can see the last day someone posted from their profile.

There are some people who were highly active early on. And there are some people who go away for a few years and then come back again later.

Regarding forum levels. I wonder if the number of thread authors should be considered? Let’s face it Council of Wryms is currently dominated by my obsession with the setting.

It is during applications for new forums.

At the moment the rules are that a minimum of five people need to be actively contributing to the discussion of a specific setting.

I don't actually have a way to work out exactly how many people have posted in a big forum, like the Mystara forum. It's much easier to prove that at least five people are talking about a campaign setting or rules system that is building up to "Level 1".

People making forum applications should be making a list of the people who have posted meaningful posts.

If I'm the one checking a forum application, I tend to look at all the topics, discount any that don't count and then see how many different people have started a topic. If that's five or more, I don't need to do any more. If it's less than five, I'll start opening individual topics to see if there are people replying without starting topics.

If there is one uber-fan who posts more than anyone else, that's not really a bad thing, as other fans can then come along and build off of that fan's knowledge or work. It's probably much more of a thing with homebrew settings, where a creator can walk away and leave a world that is never going to progress any further.

Obviously it is better when two or more people come together and start bouncing ideas off of each other, but I personally find uber-fans of things really fun to watch. Seeing Blacky the Blackball build Dark Dungeons was amazing!

I did post a Facebook poll in 2011 that you might be interested in. I called it: What D&D campaign settings are you interested in? and set it up so that people would vote for all the D&D settings they like...instead of one setting they like best.

I used to have editing rights (and used to delete silly options that other people added as jokes) but then Facebook locked down the poll and it maxed out (99 or 100 options - with some silly answers eating up slots that could have been used for other obscure D&D settings).

Council of Wyrms is in 28th place on my Facebook question, with 108 votes (vs 708 votes for Forgotten Realms in 1st place). So by that logic, I would guess that CoW is 1/7th as popular as FR is. Having said that, my FB question does not line up with the topic/post counts at The Piazza.
