You choose The Piazza's next forum II!

Post by Giant Space Hamster » Wed Sep 02, 2015 1:32 am

It is forum creation time at The Piazza again! Last time we did the "You choose our next forum" thing, The Piazza had five campaign settings that might qualify for a new forum, and we let you vote on which campaign setting would get its own forum. You chose Conan.

In addition to the four campaign settings that did not win a forum last time, there are now five more campaign settings that might qualify for their own forum. Here is the new shortlist of settings that are candidates to get the next forum at The Piazza: * = The 3rd Edition D&D Chainmail product line was set on the same planet as Greyhawk, and voting for this option would be a vote for a subforum in the Greyhawk forum.
** = If Pathfinder wins, the current Pathfinder forum would become a forum for discussion of the Pathfinder RPG rules and all topics relating to the Pathfinder Campaign Setting would be split off into their own forum.

There is a poll above this post. You can vote for one setting, and one setting only.

The poll will run for the next twenty one days. You can change your vote at any time during the next twenty one days. Once the poll expires, the votes will be counted and the setting with the most votes will get its own forum.

Tough call for three that I'd love to see forums for; Cthulhu, Pathfinder and Rokugan. I had to go with the one I have the most interest in right now though so I chose Golarion, the Pathfinder Chronicles Campaign Setting.

Although I like Call of Cthulhu, I would like to see Council of Wyrm as I really like that setting and the potentially it offers.

I would like to see The Piazza have forums for Chainmail, Council of Wyrms, Ghostwalk, Jakandor and Sovereign Stone. But like you said, we only get one vote.

I've stuck my vote on Ghostwalk, but it looks like the voting is quite close this time (at least it is at the moment). I'm going to keep an eye on things. If it looks like Ghostwalk is falling far behind and switching my vote to Chainmail, Council of Wyrms, Jakandor or Sovereign Stone could tip the balance, I'll change my vote.

Argh! Cthulhu and Lankhmar are two of my top favourites! I chose the latter though, as Cthulhu already has an excellent site www.yog-sothoth.com

Jakandor would be my second choice, after Lankhmar. From a purely selfish perspective, there's only four I have interest in (Lankhmar, Jakandor, Rokugan, and Council of Wyrms), and Lankhmar is the one I think would drive the most discussion. The down side is that Lankhmar has a fair bit of Slade's work, which I just don't care for stylistically.

the existing oriental adventures forum is intended for kara-tur, rokugan, and any other east asian setting.

Never mind. I obviously haven't had enough sleep recently. We have the following OA-type forums:

Kara-Tur
Oriental Adventures

The second of those is intended for "everything East Asian that is not Kara-Tur".

I'm actually going to go with Lankhmar on this. CoC already has a (very active!) forum over at Yog-Sothoth.com, and Pathfinder discussions are usually best engaged-in on Paizo's own forums, which are really well-supported. Of the ones listed, Lankhmar has nothing, and has enough staying power to keep on keepin' on for 80 years (!) next year -- there are a few communities, but none of them dedicated to gaming.

That's a great point. a Lankhmar Campaign Setting forum at The Piazza could become the world's most useful forum fairly easily. :)

I know that I would prefer to see a setting with a D&D connection over a setting without a D&D connection.

Lankhmarspace, anyone? :P
