Carmilla

Post by Digitalelf » Sat Oct 06, 2018 3:23 am

Has anyone here ever come up with stats for Carmilla? Or perhaps ever come across them online. The only thing I've ever managed to find were based off of the [modern day] TV series and for use with World of Darkness... I'm of course looking for D&D stats (any edition really).

No, but the book isn't too dense and is free online if you want to peruse the original source material. Were I stat her, of course, she wouldn't be an enemy (because let's face it, Spielsdorf was the villain)

To each their own I suppose... :D

In my campaigns, vampires, while characters of tragedy, are abominations of evil. Redemption may be possible, but more often than not however, such redemption only comes through the death of the vampire.

Because, lets face it, Carmilla was no "angel", she didn't survive several hundred years through only drinking the blood of rats or what have you. :P

Are we talking about the character from Sheridan LeFanu's 1871 novel Carmilla?

I am not really familiar with any modern adaptations of the character. Does she posess any abilities that are different from other Vampires? Are there any Vampiric abilities that she has never used?

I think using Dracula's or Stradh's abilities as a starting point would be a good way to begin detailing this character in D&D terms.

Yes, the same...

But as far as the modern adaptation, I don't know anything about the modern TV series other than it exists (found this out while searching for stats).

For those that may be interested, I found stats for Carmilla in Adamant Entertainment's "The Imperial Age" setting (specifically in the "Victorian Monstrosities" sourcebook), which uses WotC's d20 Modern and d20 Past rules. :D

That would be the one. ;)

It stats her as a CR 8, 6th level Charismatic Hero, with a 20 CHR.

So while most of the work has been done for me already, there are still a few things that need to be converted over to 2nd edition MotRD.

Nice! :)

Does it give Carmilla any unique vampiric abilities?

BTW, I also made a separate thread about Imperial Age here..

Yeah, this is what she has as far as "non-standard" vampiric abilities:

Alternate form is limited to a great black cat (treat as tiger).
Dimension Door (Sp): Carmilla can move through physical objects.
Paralysis (Su): Carmilla can numb a limb with a single touch. Her touch instantly renders an affected limb (usually an arm) useless unless the character makes a DC 25 Fort Save.

These are in addition to the standards of energy drain, create spawn, domination, etc.
