It came from an idea I had while I was running MRD, and between that and other influences we have a new Victorian game, that seems to emulate the feel of the old MRD box set. Im not saying you should buy a copy, but you might like it if you want to play something like that in d20/3.5 and not have to hunt down something that is currently out of print.
 Forgot I had this. Elements of OGL Steampunk mix nicely with the genre too.
Why, yes it does :-)

Is there a preview or freebie for Gaslight, so that people can take a look at it to compare and contrast?

Also how hard would it be for people that want to stick with Masque of the Red Death to convert Gaslight material to MotRD rules? And if anyone was doing that, what would be the best things for someone to raid from your Gaslight line?

There is a little preview, via DTRPG. And as for the other question, sometime next year I plan on doing a rules only release for OSRIC (or something) converting the rules only.

How many products detail the Masque of the Red Death Setting?

Having learned that there is a semi-official connection between Ravenloft's Gothic Earth, the AD&D Mythic Earth of the HR Sourcebooks and Mystara's LaTerre Setting has made me more interested in this setting. Is there more than the original Boxed set?

Has anyone explored the connections I mention above from a Ravenloft perspective?

Its not really a connection, there is an article in Dragon Magazine (I have forgotten the issue number) that gives some information about using Red Death in other eras and how to use the HR books as part of it. They were not written with MRD in mind. Technically there are only three products that detail the MRD setting. The core box set, the Guide to Gothic Earth and the Transylvania book (which I cant off hand remember the exact title). There is no reason that other things cant be used with them in a homebrew setting. I do it all the time, but there are only three official products and a smidgen of articles scattered among various issues of Dragon.

Cool,
I also found an article in Dragon Annual 2, p112, Villains of Gothic Earth (December 1997).

and the following magazine articles
  • Dragon Annual 2, p112, Villains of Gothic Earth (December 1997)
  • Dragonn #249 "Seeds of Evil"
  • Polyhedron 105, p20, Gothic Heroes: Famous Opponents of the Red Death (March 1995)
  • Polyhedron 106, p20, Gothic Heroes: A Day at the Fair (April 1995)
  • Polyhedron 107, p20, Gothic Heroes: Heroes of the Great American Pastime (May 1995)
As to books, the three you mention must be:
  • Masque of the Red Death and Other Tales (October 1994)
  • The Gothic Earth Gazetteer: A Masque of the Red Death Accessory (November 1995)
  • A Guide to Transylvania: A Masque of the Red Death Accessory (August 1996)

How much support was there for the Arthaus/Sword & Sorcery D20 line for Masque of the Red Death? I could only find one book called "Masque of the Red Death" (October 2004)

I've really been wanting to try it out. I'm running 3.5 right now and I've thought about dumping them into it. From what I've read though I'd probably be better off running it on its own and I'm not looking to start a new game for awhile.

  • Dragon #215 "Donning a New Masque"
  • Dragon #236 "Mystics, Miracles & Meditiations
  • Dragon #240 "Mysterious Cities"
The first adds a Psychic NWP system. The middle two add kits, and the last describes various cities on Gothic Earth.

It would not be my first choice to use traditional D&D characters in this setting. On the other hand I suppose it could be interesting to see how they would react to a setting like this, and also how the society of the Gothic Earth would react to such other worldy visitors.

Thanks for the list, I was out and about when I replied so I couldnt remember all of these. I have copies of all these articles included in a "campaign binder" that I use for my MoRD campaigns. I put together my own MM from copies of the pages of the MM/Appendixs or from the binder version.

Is this out now Jonathan?

Have you seen anyone using it with MotRD yet?

Picked up the AD&D 2e version recently. Trying to put a group together now. No luck yet but I'm persistent, lol!

Nice! Are your players 2e fans or do you think they would be more likely to join if you used a different edition?

Good luck getting your game started! :)

I'm not currently a member of a gaming group. I am trying to connect with people who play AD&D 2e and specifically MotRD but no luck so far. I keep looking using Facebook, a website called Game Finder, going to my FLGS and hanging out at my local library branch rolling up NPC's and Pre-Gen characters.
