Anyone check out the John Carter Organized Play Campaign from Modiphius?

Anyone check out the John Carter Organized Play Campaign from Modiphius?

Post by Havard » Thu Jul 18, 2019 10:18 am

As I mentioned in this thread, Modiphius are doing organized play campaigns for many of their RPGs.

Has anyone checked out the one they have for John Carter of Mars?

I couldnt fint much else, but sign up info can be found here
https://www.modiphius.com/organised-play.html

Anyone know more about this?

That looks like a form for people to volunteer to run events (rather than one for players).

Maybe they are touting to see who might support each world, before they launch them. :?

Checking out their website, I can see that some Living Campaigns are already ongoing!
There is Star Trek Living Campaign (with already 16 downloadable adventures!): https://www.modiphius.com/livingcampaign.html and there is Mutant Chronicles Living Campaign (but there is only a post-adventure survey form available right now, no adventures). Everything points to the direction that the number of Living Campaigns available will progressively grow.
Overall, I think they are great news as organised play is a very interesting way of marketing your role-play games, in my very humble opinion.

Great find Yaz!

I hope JC modules will be added soon. :)

I think it depends on how much interest on them they gather.
Right now I don't feel ready to run a game with this ruleset (too crunchy for me to run it without previous player experience), but I'd be keen on playing one. If anybody wants to run a Living Campaign adventure here, with the players being able to play just with the quick start guide (see viewtopic.php?f=108&t=22060 ), I'm available.

First I've heard about it, but color me interested.

I have the same concerns as Yastromo, however. I'd like to play in several sessions before I would feel comfortable running JCoM.

Well, that's usually the problem -- getting the right number of GM's. I find that at my store, in an Adventurer's League setting, there are plenty of folks who want to GM. Mostly because they can get those slimy GM Rewards things and have awesome characters in someone else's game.

But for stuff like this, unless there is some strong incentive, it's really hard to find a GM. I've been asking around my local store for someone to run FATE, Tales from the Loop, John Carter, and other games so that I can get a feel about how they play. Crickets.

Did anybody contact Modiphius to run JCM games as part of their organized play initiative?

I've had bad luck with organised play, but i would love to try. Sadly, the only thing anyone plays around my neck of the woods is Adventure's League, which is not to my personal taste.

I think Finarvyn hit the nail on the head, most people don't want to run organised play unless there is something in it for them, and that requires a certain critical mass of interested people. Which usually means Adventure's League and Pathfinder Society.
