Scourge of the Howling Horde

Post by Big Mac » Tue May 22, 2018 5:08 pm

Is there a Greyhawk connection in Scourge of the Howling Horde?

I see that it is set in a village called: Barrow's Edge, but is that village featured in any other D&D products?

How about the Howling Caves? Are they in anything else?

Did Living Greyhawk do anything with viewtopic.php?f=11&t=19783?

Living Greyhawk canonized it in the Cairn Hills, replacing Burrow's Edge with Blackwell Keep.

Scourge itself is VERY generic. There aren't even any GH gods or 3e iconic characters and the author has no GH pedigree. The Shattered Gates of Slaughtergarde is recommended as a followup adventure, but that work is also intended for brand new PC's. A better fit would be the DD series starting with Barrow of the Forgotten King that was released three months later and crafted for 2nd level PC's, basically demanding an introductory adventure. WotC likely intended Scourge to connect with the DD trilogy as an easy, generic, product line of modules for the late 3.5 era.

The only fly in the ointment is that LG placed Barrow far away from Scourge, in the Good Hills.
