New GLoG website down - Does anyone know what's happening?

Post by Big Mac » Thu Mar 08, 2018 10:06 pm

The Great Library of Greyhawk wiki on canonfire.com went down some time ago.

Then it was replaced by a new version on wiki.greyparticle.com.

Now that website is down.

Does anyone have any information on what's happening? Is there a rescue effort going on?

Is it being moved back to canonfire.com? Is it going to come back on greyparticle.com? Is it going to go somewhere else?

It's hosted here temporarily: https://wait-wtf.com/wiki/index.php/Main_Page

Thanks Rip.

I also asked about this in the GLoG forum on Canonfire! and Lamashtu replied to me and told me that he thought the greyparticle URL had expired and some data was lost:
lamashtu at the Great Library of Greyhawk forum on Canonfire wrote:I have no information available on the status of greyparticle - the domain appears to have expired, but I'm not the owner.

A backup wiki built from the same code and database is available at https://wait-wtf.com/wiki

Unfortunately Gary and I have yet to solve how to share updates between mirrors, so whatever additions were made at greyparticle since it went live will be unavailable. (As I recall, there were some, but not too many.)
I wonder who owns greyparticle. :?

Hmmm. If we have a complete/current version, we can certainly get it hosted onto greyhawkonline.com.

That would be great Grodog.

greyhawkonline.com is a much nicer URL for a wiki about Greyhawk.

lamashtu said that the wait-wtf is a copy of the data before updates at greyparticle, and that they had not figured out a way to merge the updates from greyparticle into the wait-wtf version.

If someone has access to the greyparticle version (assuming it isn't just deleted) and they can put it up on a different URL, I think it would be possible for wiki editors to look at the recent changes and manually copy and paste new material onto the other wiki.
