War of the Lance

Post by Into the Unknown » Tue Feb 26, 2019 6:55 pm

So, I went back and checked out the War of the Lance adventures. Sounds awesome! You get to play out the original trilogy? Sign me up! However, one thing strikes me as odd: in the second and third books, it lists the heroes as being 9th level. So, what gives here? Do they not gain levels at all during the second book? Is it a typo in the third?

Laurana’s group goes west and Tanis’s group goes east, just as in the novels. Unlike in the novels, all the western adventures are grouped in the second book, and all the eastern adventures are grouped in the third book. Thus Laurana and Tanis are the same level at the start of their respective books.

Ah. So, book two and book three are happening simultaneously. Interesting. Have you run these adventures? If so, did you actually have the 8 players it recommends?

Nah, if I did run the War of the Lance I would do it rather loosely. I would have however many players I would have, and they would play whatever characters they would want to play, and they would go wherever they would want to go (I would make sure that at any given time they had options, knew of different quests that they could attempt).
