Brief Overview of cultures?

Across the ruined empires of Cerilia, the dogs of war are let loose. Somewhere on a muddy battlefield, a common man becomes a hero - and a hero becomes a king.

Could someone give a quick overview of the various Birthright cultures with real world references where possible, for us who are less familiar with the setting? :)

There are several cultures modeled on European and Middle Eastern ones.

Khinasi are based on Arab cultures, although their names sometimes include Italian or Spanish names (thus more like Moors of Andalusia or Sicilia than eastern Arabic states). They are good magicians, but also respect the other classes.

Anuireans are generic Europeans. Their language appears to be celtic-like, their culture is a mix of late Holy Roman Empire and War of the Roses England. They are baseline for the setting.

The people of Rjurik are vikings with a Druidic religion. They are good rangers and druids.

The Vos are based on the Russians, mostly Kievan Rus and generally pre-imperial. They value strength, primarily, and worship evil gods.

Brechtur is based on the Hanseatic league. They are primarily guilders.

According to Birthright.net Wiki, there is another human race called Masetian. This race has either been killed off or has fled to another part of the world*.

* = Or to Aebrynispace.

I can't work out who the Masetian people are based on. :?

Greek/Roman. The Masetians were absorbed by the Khinasi. There is a single island realm where they survive, under the rule of the Serpent, one of the most powerful and ancient awnshegh.

Oh. They do still exist. That's great!

Thanks for the correction.
