Prehistory of Mystara

Post by Knightfall » Sat Apr 28, 2018 9:48 am

Prehistory of Mystara
c. 4600 to 700 Million Years
• Primordial Eons. These eons starts with the Time of the Elemental Lords and ends with the near mythical Medusan Empire. Epic dragons and ancient elementals dominate this expansive time period. Mystara goes through its first Ice Age during this time period (Snowball Mystara [c. BC 1000 Million Years]). See Francesco's illustrated timeline of maps on the Vaults of Pandius for more details. (Francesco Defferrari).

c. BC 4400 to 450 Million Years
• The Ages of Water. The world of Mystara is covered mainly in water (at the beginning of the Water Dragons Age during the Primordial Eons) but arguments among the Immortals lead to the formation of the continents (by the time of the Fire Salamanders Empire). It ends with the Late Age of the Oceans. It's a time of elemental upheaval as the young world is shaped by the Immortals with no two Immortals agreeing how it should be. The first aquatic life forms come into existence, although they are non-sentient and single-celled. Primitive plant-life eventually takes root on the land. This is the time of the first proto-sentient empires of squids and worms, as well as the rise and fall of the Desert Ghosts Empire. This age is often referred to as the Dawn of Time by scholars, especially historians among the sea-dwelling races. (PC3 Sea People, Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 420 to 390 Million Years
• Age of Fish. New empires rule the seas of Mystara at the beginning of this age, which includes ammonites (illithid-like creatures), eurypterids (sea scorpions), ostracoderms (shelled fish, creatures halfway between koprus and crabmen) and acanthodians (spiny sharks, proto-shark-kins). On the land, worms, oozes, araneas, miriapods (intelligent centipedes) and the first primordial fey and gentle drakes arise within the first great forests of the planet. As the age develops, other intelligence takes hold on the world such as the ancestors of the hivebroods and heralds. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 360 to 300 Million Years
• Age of Insects. This age is equivalent to the end of the Devonian geologic period to the beginning of the Triassic geologic period on Laterre in the Dimension of Myth. (This time period on Laterre spans the entirety of the Carboniferous and Permian.) Dominate land creatures/races during this time period are araneas, semi-intelligent amphibians, formians, hivebroods, proto-kreens and some leftover primordial oozes from previous ages. In the oceans there is the Sharkian Empire, formed by ancient breeds of shark-kins; koprus and knas are believed to have come into existence in this era (and opposed the shark-kin) while some sea nations of creatures from the Age of Fish survive. Mystara becomes colder. A southern realm of ice drakes, ice salamanders, and other creatures of the air is expanding in the south pole. By the end of this age, there are four main empires—the Hive Empire (hivebroods), Sharkian Empire (ancient shark-kin), Sky Ice Empire, and the Kolemek Empire (magic-users), the creator race of the Meks. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 250 Million Years
• Age of Cataclysms. Outer Beings of unknown origin invade the space and planes around Mystara. Massive cataclysms completely wipe out the dominate empire of the time and there is a massive extinction of the various insect creatures and races that had dominated the world during the previous age. Eventually the Outer Beings are defeated with the creation of the Vortex, but an Immortal being known as the Mother is murdered, secretly, by the Immortal known as Thanatos with the complicity of other first Immortals. Immortal dragons and ancient fey, suspecting an involvement of the ancient Immortals in the death of the Mother, leave the higher planes and come to the prime material. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 235 Million Years
• Amphibian Era. The dominate forces during this time period are a coastal Amphibian Empire, an Empire of Kopru in a eastern sea, and two Dragon Empires that dominate the polar regions. On the coasts and at sea, there are guilds of Kna traders, a Realm of Crucotaurs, independent Tortles and Crabmen, old Shark-Kin nations, ancient Therapsid lands in decline, Formians and the enigmatic Hive Island, the isolated Drake Realms, and a Kingdom on Sea Dragons. More inland there are the Saurian and Thri-Kreen nations. These lands rise from the ashes of the Age of Cataclysms and the extinction of many of the races from the Age of Insects. Only the toughest insect races survive whiel the others are reborn in the Hollow Moon. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 200 to BC 150 Million Years
• Age of Dragons. This is the time of Mystara's equivalent to the end of the Triassic geologic period to the beginning of the Paleogene geologic period on Laterre in the Dimension of Myth. (This time period on Laterre spans the entirety of the Jurassic and Cretaceous.) Near mythic dragons rule Mystara during this time period. The ancient ancestors of the chameleon men, tortles, and other reptilian races might have come into being during this time period or might have been created by the Immortals during a later age (the Immortal Dragons insist it is the former). The Davanian race known as saurials puts their origin at this time period on Davania, but it more likely the race originated on Laterre and migrated to Mystara through ancient portals. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. 100 Million Years
• The War of Revenge and The Fall. Immortal War over the death of the being known as Mother and the creation of the Vortex. Return of the Mother's Herald. A colossal asteroid impacts the greatest city of the dragons—sent by the Immortals—which causes disasters of innumerable count. The world is nearly destroyed. The Earth Dragons sacrifice themselves to save the world. The other dragons of Mystara are forced to submit, lose their Immortality as a race, and are banished for indeterminate length of time. The Herald escapes Thanatos and once more flees into the cosmos. (Francesco Defferrari).

c. BC 50 to 6 Million Years
• The Mammalian Ages. The three ages of the Rise of the Mammals on Mystara. The Early Mammal Age starts at circa BC 50 Million Years and ends at circa BC 26 Million Years. The Middle Mammal Age starts at circa BC 25 Million Years and ends at circa BC 11 Million Years. The Late Mammal Age starts at circa BC 10 Million Years and ends at circa BC 6 Million Years. Key developments include the rise and fall of a Devilfish Empire, the rise and decline of the Pachyd Empire on Davania, the rise of another Hive Empire on Skothar, and the beginnings of the Eldar on Davania, and the creation of the Carnifex race by dragons seeking revenge on the Immortals. See Francesco's article for more details. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 5 Million Years
• Carnifex Age. The carnifex empire rule this age and all eastern Davania, pachydermions and older saurian races have been exterminated. On Brun, cryons appear while on Skothar the Hivebroods are falling back under the attacks of fairies, froglins, rakastodons and gatormen. Eventually the High Carnifex will defy the Immortals and will be exiled to another plane. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 1 Million Years
• Age of Giants. After the exile of the High Carnifex, a new race of intelligent reptilians evolves on Davania, the serpentines, and with them other races that will become the lizardfolk, sis'thik and others. Pachydermions have again a presence in eastern Davania, but the real power of the area are ancient Eldar fey known as the sidhes, as well as other older fey such as dryads, treants, hsiaos, fauns, and centaurs (and newer fey such as brownies, pookas, leprechauns, sprites, imps and pixies). Dragons and drake are also dominate in the eastern lands of Davania. The Golden Realm of sphynxes, enduks, pegataurs, gyerians, centaurs, dragons, crabmen and tortles rule over western Davania. After travelling the planes for million of years, araneas return to Mystara in the Isle of Dawn. The greatest empire of this time however is the Empire of Giants on the continent of Brun. On the northern continents, aardovai (ancestors of lupins) and proto-brutemen (the first hominids) have appeared while garls probably now survive only in remote areas. The giant empire creates colonies also in bothe Davania and Skothar. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 700000 to BC 600000
• War of the Giants. The being known as the Herald (or Servant of the Herald) returns to Mystara and tells the giants the truth about the Immortals, and their betrayal of Mother. The powerful giants storm the Plane of the Immortals. To avoid defeat the Immortals inflict a terrible Ice Age on Mystara, which causes massive extinctions and the utter defeat of the Empire of Giants. What happens to the being known as the Herald is unknown, but it is whispered among the Immortals that he once again escaped Thanatos, although the primordial Immortal claims otherwise. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 500000 to BC 60000
• The Time of Truce. The Immortals declare a truce after the creation of the continents, reshaping of the oceans, and warring over the right to determine the world's past, present, and future. Many of the oldest Immortals choose to become Old Ones while the younger of them continue to tinker with the planet but with less overt changes. The young world thrives and gives birth to hundreds of intelligence races in the sea and on the land including Brutemen (the first true humans), shorter-lived elves & sea elves, merrow, and neo-fey creatures. Lupins and rakastas begin to differentiate into sub-species. While giants continue to exist in scattered and weak kingdoms, the Brutemen and the Serpentine Empires became powerful in magic. It is believed that the shark-kin leave the sea and begin living on the land during this time period. The oceans and land of the planet are full of complex organisms that include a wide variety of both flora and fauna that have evolved naturally or unnaturally over millions and millions of years. Many of these creatures evolve into both normal animals and plants, as well as more dangerous monstrous creatures that are throwbacks to previous ages. (PC3 Sea People, Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 50000
• Dawn of the New Races. The aging Brutemen Empire, First Serpentine Empire, and the remnants of the giant empires are in decline while other races surge to power or come back from the brink. This includes but isn't limited to such races as both ancient & new elves, araneas, centaurs, lamaras, lizardfolk, lupins, rakastas, sis-thiks, tortles, troglodytes, and numerous types of fey, as well as a new species of human that is spreading across the continent of Skothar. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

BC 10000
• The Dawn of Written History. Elves and fairies rise to power in the south, expanding beyond Evergrun. Enduks, pegataurs, sphinxes and other fairies found the Realm of Pelatan and expand into the Great Western Basin of the Izonda-Arypt superdesert. The Second Serpentine Empire expands oout of the jungles and into the Aryptian Savannah along the continent's northeastern shores (the empire and its capital have indeed given the region its lasting name). Elves establish good relations with the halflings living in the steppes and foothills of ancient Brasolia. The elves often aid the hin against serpentine raids. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

• After some conflicts with reptilian races and rakasta the Oltecs of Orimul and Nevumm establish powerful kingdoms in north eastern Davania. The carnifex of Y’hog build the city of Y'hegg-T'uhath on an ancient island in Northwestern Davania. (Francesco Defferrari).

BC 8900
• The first king of the Lhomarrians is declared, taking the title due to his prowess in combat. His armies force other villages to recognize his authority—a dynasty begins. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8800
• By this time the Lhomarrians in what will become Lhomarr have developed an early Bronze Age culture. Agriculture is widespread, as well as the domestication of animals. Small towns are present, and more complicated forms of government arise. Sailors explore their surroundings. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8750
• After centuries of expansion and progress, the Lhomarrian king, Uripos, names himself emperor. The new empire begins its expansion to the eastern coast. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 8600
• Lhomarrian explorers have made simple maps of the Vulcanian coast, as well as the rest of the Davanian coast up to the Cestian Peninsula. A refined alphabet is developed, as well as improved bronze weapons and armour. The Middle Bronze age has arrived for Lhomarr. The polar ice caps, already melting due to rising temperatures, start to make their effects known. Some Lhomarrians settle on the Cestian Peninsula, naming it "Xerothnyi" (New Coast). Emperor Santhalis divides Lhomarr into ten provinces, and names ten of his bravest warriors to become regional princes, to rule in his stead in the provinces, and to take care of local affairs. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8563
• The first Lhomarrian settlers reach the Vulture Peninsula, then a verdant land, which they name "Prys" (Garden). They defeat local rakasta nations and birdmen populations. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 8500
• The climate warms up at an even faster rate. Many of the small islands between Lhomarr and Skothar have sunk by this time. Some low-lying coastal plains in Lhomarr begin to flood. The Lhomarrians found the Kingdom of Ilarnn while the Oltec people found the Kingdom of Suur. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 8405
• Emperor Theros falls ill and becomes bedridden. He abdicates in favour of his eldest son, Yoros. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8401
• Emperor Yoros drowns at sea due to a mishap. His younger brother Galhossian takes the throne. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8400
• Minimum traceable uninterrupted bloodline of the Elves of the Red Woods families (likely there are much longer bloodlines recorded). (LoZompatore).
• The increase in temperatures slackens, but Lhomarr finds itself alone in the sea, having lost about one-quarter of its landmass. The Lhomarrians are accomplished sailors by this time, so the developments over the past centuries are not catastrophic. The Lhomarrians also have developed a national consciousness, and name their land "Lhomarr" (Land of the Sea). (Geoff Gander).

BC 8397
• The Edict of Galhossian is pronounced in the capital city, Regemnon. Anyone suspected of political subversion is deported to the colonies, or executed. Many people "rat" on their neighbours in order to settle longstanding grudges. The flow of colonists increases from a couple hundred per month into the thousands. Many are thrown into Prys and Xerothnyi with little more than the clothes on their backs, and hundreds die during the winter, especially in Prys, where the climate is more severe. In Lhomarr proper, taxes are increased by an average of 40% to fund extravagant civic works projects, such as roads, bridges, and monumental statues of the emperor. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8395
• Xerothnyi and Prys are elevated to full provinces of Lhomarr, receiving their own princes to represent them. This is also a ploy to curry favour with the colonists. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8392
• The last public opposition to Galhossian is crushed, having been sent to Prys the previous winter. He now rules with an iron fist, randomly arresting the people in his court. Discontent increases in the countryside. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8391
• Prince Albassis of Burienos publicly criticises the emperor, making demands for lower taxation and more regional powers. Many commoners agree with him, having seen their own situation deteriorate since Galhossian ascended the throne. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8389
• Galhossian, while touring the southern countryside, visits the village of Brissalithos, and is scorned by the struggling villagers and farmers. Enraged, he orders the entire village executed, and its buildings razed. Word spreads quickly of the deed, and the ten princes of the continent of Lhomarr rise up in open revolt, along with their supporters. The princes of Xerothnyi and Prys declare themselves for Galhossian, realising they owe their positions directly to him. A civil war ensues. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8377
• The Lhomarrian Civil War ends, with the rebels being victorious. Galhossian and his two loyal princes are killed by a rebel disguised as a guard. The realm is redivided, giving the victorious princes an equal portion of the total area of the empire (including the colonies - they are no longer separate provinces). Galhossian is succeeded by his 14 year old son, Tylion, who is forced to sign the new political division of power into law. What was once a verbal agreement between the emperor and the princes is now written down. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8350
• The first group of colonists goes south to the Vulcanian Peninsula, where they found the port city of Erkalion. A minor population explosion occurs in Xerothnyi, forcing that region to expand westwards, onto Davania proper. Formal relations with the kingdom of Ilarnn, which now borders Xerothnyi, begin. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8299
• A group of explorers lands in what will become the Lost Valley, they found a small trading post, and do business with the Oltec inhabitants. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8289
• Peace treaties and trade pacts are established with the Tanagoro on Skothar, the Oltecs of Brun and Davania, and the lizard men kingdoms of the Aryptian Basin region. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8264
• The permanent settlement of Thallios is built upon the old trading post in the future Lost Valley region. The Lhomarrians have entered the Late Bronze Age. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8260
• Word reaches Lhomarr of a large island far to the northwest, upon which are built great cities of obsidian and basalt, inhabited by lizard-like people. There are also tales of the fabulous wealth that lies in abundance there. Word also spreads of many wars in that region, and of refugees fleeing southwards and eastwards. Many Lhomarrians do not know what to make of this. Emperor Mordalios sends a diplomatic envoy to where this island is said to be, in the hopes of concluding relations with them. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8250
• The carnifex establish colonies on the western coasts of the Arm of the Immortals and Davania, as well as underwater. (Francesco Defferrari).
• The Lhomarrian envoys finally locate Y'hegg-T'uhath. They are guided to Y'hog, the capital city, and are treated to a banquet. The food was drugged, and those that partook of it are sacrificed. One man does not eat, but witnesses the sacrifice from a secure vantage point. He flees to the quay, and orders the Lhomarrian ship's crew to head for Lhomarr immediately. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8249
• The Lhomarrian ship returns from Y'hegg-T'uhath, and the tale is told to the emperor. Mordalios decides to do nothing, relying on the military might of Nevumm, Orimul, and other Davanian nations to keep any threats from the west at bay. (Geoff Gander).

BC 8150
• Y’hog expansion continues in northern Davania and southern Brun, but is contained in the west by the enduks and in the east by Nevumm. (Francesco Defferrari).

BC 8100
• The Y’hog colonies in the Adakizondan Mountains begin building great subterranean cities with the bulk of these cities being in the mountains of the Amaluran Cliffs. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

BC 8006
• Nevumm, an Oltec nation located in the foothills of the ancient Adakizondan Mountains, is conquered by the invading hordes of carnifex and troglodytes. Those who do not escape are sacrificed. The halflings of the Brasolian steppes are hard pressed but resist with the aid of the southern-dwelling elves and fey. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

BC 7962
• Orimul, an Oltec nation located in the Jungle Coast, is destroyed by the carnifex. Some survivors flee to the Serpent Peninsula and go to what will become the Atruaghin Clans. The Serpentine Empire is forced to ally with the carnifex. Rakasta prides conduct an all out guerrilla war behind carnifex lines. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 7903
• Ilarnn, an Oltec/Neathar nation in Arypt, is occupied by the carnifex. Xerothnyi now borders the enemy. Panic spreads throughout the peninsula, and in Lhomarr proper. The First Carnifex War begins. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 7900
• Emperor Kirthos sends a large naval force to Xerothnyi, and lands 30,000 soldiers there to hold the peninsula. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7895
• Ilarnn is liberated by the Lhomarrians. It becomes a protectorate of Lhomarr. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7800
• Events of "Forge of Power" episode of CM6 module. Early dwarves surface on Mystara and start living above ground, becoming the Ancient Dwarves. (LoZompatore).

BC 7540
• The Lhomarrian coalition, including humans, rakasta, halfling, elves, fairies and enduks, is at last beating back carnifex and their allies after centuries of war. The turning point is when the Serpentine Empire and many lizardfolk also turn against the carnifex. (Francesco Defferrari).

BC 7500
• Lhomarr, almost broken by the strains of war, demands assistance from its neighbours, who have been rebuilding themselves behind the Lhomarrian shield. Ilarnn and Suur send military aid. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7465
• The Carnifex port city of Azhat-Ith is conquered. Both it and its inhabitants are destroyed. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7460
• Eldamir (present day Kastelios) is founded on the site of the carnifex city Azhat-Ith by the Lhomarrians. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 7380
• By this time the Carnifex have been pushed out of Davania. The time of reconstruction begins. The great fortress-city of Valannir is built on the northwestern coast of Davania by the Lhomarrians. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7300
• Events of "Bronze and Iron" episode of CM6 module. (LoZompatore).

BC 7200
• Second Carnifex War. Another horde of carnifex and their servitors sweep down from Y'hegg-T'uhath, land near Valannir, and destroy it utterly. Eventually, the invaders are stopped and begin to slowly lose ground. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 7178
• Eldamir is besieged and destroyed. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7153
• Furious Lhomarrian forces take vengeance and destroy the rebuilt Azhat-Ith. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7140
• The remaining carnifex-led forces are thrown out of Davania a second time. The city of Pelenzor is founded in the Great Western Basin of the Arypt-Izonda superdesert by the Lhomarrians, Oltecs, and enduks to watch over the wastes. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

BC 7037
• Third Carnifex War. Lhomarr decides to end the carnifex menace once and for all. The emperor orders Brell, a legendary Lhomarrian general, to lead a force of 120,000 men to Y'hegg-T'uhath, and to destroy everything they find. The Lhomarrian armies, and their allies, gather at Valannir and cross the Straits of Mist to the island. The longlegs troglodytes are almost exterminated by lhomarrian coalition troops in northwestern Davania during this time period. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 7033
• Y'hog is surrounded. A two-year siege begins. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7031
• Y'hog is looted and burned. Many of its inhabitants are slaughtered, and those who survive flee into the catacombs beneath. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7029
• Fourth Carnifex War. A third horde of carnifex and troglodytes arises from the ruins of Y'hog, overrunning dozens of coastal settlements on Davania, as well as lizardfolk tribes and rakasta prides. (Geoff Gander, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 7027
• The City-State of Pelenzor is utterly destroyed by the carnifex horde, who now possess the rich grasslands near the Great Western Basin. The Lhomarrian Fifteenth Legion, and the Suurian Second Legion are dispatched from the dry steppelands southwest of the Adakizondan Mountains to meet the force. They do battle amidst the ruins of Pelenzor, in which Brell is killed by a poisoned arrow. The Lhomarrian and Suurian forces are routed, and flee to the southeast. (Geoff Gander, Knightfall).

BC 7026
• Suur falls to the Carnifex hordes. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7025
• By this time the fleeing allies have been pushed into eastern Ilarnn and Xerothnyi, as well as Prys. The southern front, manned by Lhomarrians and lizard men, is holding, allowing the people of Prys to evacuate en masse to Lhomarr – a flight of some 250,000 Lhomarrians and 5,000 lizardfolk over eight months, with ships arriving and departing almost around the clock. The western front is continually in danger of collapsing, as it is facing the brunt of the Carnifex military might. The evacuation of Ilarnn and Xerothnyi is not nearly so organized, with many overcrowded ships sinking in the harbours. While the front holds, about 180,000 Lhomarrians, 50,000 Ilarnnians, and 28,000 Suurians manage to flee to Lhomarr. The Battle of Okhtor Pass is also fought this year, which routs about half of the carnifex horde, and buys valuable evacuation time. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7024
• Late in this year, the last port in Xerothnyi, Pirolos, falls to the carnifex after bitter house-to-house fighting. Many thousands of Lhomarrians were not fortunate enough to escape during the evacuation. Those who are discovered are killed, though a couple thousand manage to flee into the forests, ready to conduct a guerrilla campaign. Before the land is lost, a band of Lhomarrian warriors ambushes a carnifex encampment, which is guarding an artifact of the Outer Beings. Not knowing what it is, but guessing at its importance, the Lhomarrians destroy it. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7023
• Lhomarr is already feeling the pressure of having to house and feed over 500,000 refugees from the wars. Many died the previous winter, and plagues become widespread due to the inability of the authorities to remove the dead in time. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7022
• The Outer Beings are enraged over the destruction of their artifact, and decide to destroy the Lhomarrians themselves. They gather and channel their powers, and are strong enough to break free of their prisons long enough to concentrate their power unhindered upon Lhomarr. Earthquakes, torrential rains, and volcanic eruptions destroy the land, which sinks within 48 hours into the ocean. This is not before a few villages' worth of people, including the entire town of Pergamnos, are gathered by Ka the Preserver and sent to Suridal, in the Hollow World. (Geoff Gander).

BC 7020
• In retaliation for the destruction of Lhomarr, the Immortals wipe out the carnifex in Davania and imprison the others on Y'hegg-T'uhath. Over the next 100 years, the island slowly sinks into the sea while those living on its surface are unable to leave it. (Francesco Defferrari).

c. BC 7000
• By this time period, knowledge of the Lhomarrian civilization has begun to fade from the minds of the people of Mystara. This is partly due to Ka the Preserver's influence and partially due to the intense rage of the Outer Beings. (Geoff Gander).

BC 6700
• The Serpentine expansion is cut short when internal rebellions of lizardfolk, sis'thik, humans, rakasta, and other subjects reduce the strength and the size of the empire. (Francesco Defferrari).

c. BC 6500
• Some residents of Thallios (in the Lost Valley region), realizing that Lhomarr is well and truly gone (many surviving colonists searched vainly for it over the centuries), decide to move north to better lands. The local climate has been getting cooler, and it is harder to survive. (Geoff Gander).

c. BC 6415
• Thallios, a former Lhomarrian city, is destroyed by a volcanic eruption. Both it and its inhabitants are preserved in the falling volcanic ash (sort of like Pompeii). (Geoff Gander).

c. BC 6300
• Survivors of the northern migration from Thallios reach the flood plains near the southeastern foothills of the Adakizondan Mountains. They settle here for a while, and trade with the locals, especially the halflings of the Brasolian steppelands. (Geoff Gander, Knightfall).

BC 6130
• The Lhomarrian settlers living near the flood plains southeast of the Adakizondan Mountains are annihilated by roving barbarians. A few stragglers are absorbed into the local tribes. This is part of a plan by the Immortals the remove the Lhomarrian presence from the surface world, as their Hollow World counterparts are flourishing. (Geoff Gander, Knightfall).

BC 6000
• In the northeastern lands of Davania, the ancient Aryptian Sea is drying up, which expands the desert lands near Arypt. The increased aridity contributes to the endless wars between serpentines, lizardmen, sis'thik, humans, and rakasta. (Francesco Defferrari [edited by Knightfall]).
• Meanwhile in the west, the Enduk Empire is at its peak and includes Pelatan, much of the great Adakizondan Mountain range, and the Great Western Basin of the Arypt-Izonda superdesert, with enduks, dragons pegataurs, sphinxes, fey, Oltec humans, rakasta prides, gyerians, and other creatures as citizens. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).
• Elsewhere on Davania, Ordana reshapes a dozen clans of an ancient Eldar race, from the forest which she once called home, into what will become the elvish standard for the world. She shelters the young race until she is sure they can survive on their own. The halfling nomads living in the steppes of Brasolia expand eastward around the mountains of the Brasol Range. Settlements on the Vulcanian Peninsula, including the city of Erkalion, have been destroyed due to wars among themselves, the worsening climate, or by barbarian hordes. Descendants of the Lhomarrians survive in the Lost Valley region, however. (Francesco Defferrari, Ethan Deneault, Geoff Gander, Knightfall).

c. BC 5800
• Some scattered villages of the Lhomarrians in the Lost Valley region still survive, although they have reverted to an Early Bronze Age existence. Since they are so isolated, and so few, the Immortals decide to allow them to remain. These people have forgotten much of their history, telling tales of their legendary ancestral home which are more exaggeration than fact. Frequent invasions by neighbouring peoples prevent them from expanding. (Geoff Gander).

BC 5500
• The red dragon Yealaletherveri dies in the final battle near the North Pole against Iscranin, the great anellid. (History of Dragonkind [Simone Neri]).
• The birth of the aggressive Dragon Empire in Brun prompts the creation of the Golden Realm of Pelatan, that is indeed just a stronger involvement of gold and other dragons in the rulership of the already existing empire. The Realm begin to aid the dwarves and Oltecs of Brun against the northern dragons. (Francesco Defferrari).

BC 5100
• A new great expansion of the Serpentine Empire in eastern Davania is stopped in the north east by the combined forces of the Golden Realm, lizardfolk tribes, and halfling steppe riders. (Francesco Defferrari, Knightfall).

c. BC 5000
• During this time period, much of northern Davania (Adakkia and Izonda but not Ka) is one continuous desert surrounded mainly by dry steppes (Brasolia and northern Pelatan) although the ancient lands of the northeast have richer grasslands and scattered forests in the regions that one day be known as Arica, Pelatan, and the Korva Plains. A long range of mountains stretch across the northern coastline from Arica in the west (where the Y'hog's civilization once reigned) to the ancient Amaluran Cliffs in the east. This range is known as the Adakizondan Mountains. The ancient Arypt-Izonda superdesert stretches from what will one day be Izonda in the northwest all the way to the edge of the Serpentine Empire in the northeast. The northern wastelands just south of the Adakizondan Mountains become fertile flood lands every year as late spring storms rage over the central low peaks from the Izondian Deep. This fills much of the central lands with life-giving water that transforms the region into verdant lands until the end of summer when the land reverts back to dry desert wastes. This expansive desert is inhabited primarily by humanoids, including ancient rakasta and troglodyte breeds, sis'thiks, savage lizardfolk, and the enigmatic thri-kreen (who have survived in the superdesert since the Age of Insects) and many of them choose to live in the flood plains. What will one day become the Desert of Izonda is known locally as the Great Western Basin, although the entire northern wastelands are referred to as the Meghales Amosses Desert by most of the sentient inhabitants. In previous ages, much of this superdesert was believed to have been ruled over by the mythic land known only as Fireland. The Golden Realms rules much of the northwest while the Serpentine Empire rules much of the northeast. In central Davania, much of the Aryptian Basin is a small sea that is connected to the Kenaton River through several tributaries. This Aryptian Sea was once much larger and has slowly dried up over the millennia. (Knightfall, Matthew Levy, Francesco Defferrari, Håvard, Geoff Gander, et al.).
• End of the infancy of the common elves. They are allowed to leave the island of Evergrun and explore the world. The Empire of Evergrun is established on Davania and rules much of the southwestern region of Davania. (LoZompatore [edited by Knightfall]). While this is rumoured to be the time period in which the first great elven empire of Davania is founded, the elves of the Known World put the founding of the first ancient Eldar civilization over a thousand years earlier. (Knightfall).

BC 5000
• This time period is when known recorded history of Mystara begins in the eyes of the shorter lived races. A small percentage of the history of Lhomarr exists only in the texts of the Empire of Evergrun or in the decaying chronicles of the Lhomarrians that are buried in their ancient ruins on Davania. However, tales of ancient Lhomarr continue to exist as epic oratories told in by the isolated Lhomarrians of the Lost Valley. (Knightfall).
• Foundation of the First Republic of Thonia (DA1). From HW set we may infer that this is the first large human civilization on Mystara. The Fey people live in the woods of the Thonian Republic and go along well with humans (PC1). In the following centuries the Republic will meet some crisis and decline, and it will be founded again two more times. After nearly a millennium the Third Republic of Thonia is more an empire-like nation, arbitrarily ruled by the Emperor of All (DA1). (in the following, the Third Republic of Thonia is called Thonian Empire). (LoZompatore).
• Oltec refugees from Brun arrive in the Golden Realm of Pelatan, as well as the Hinlands of central Davania. (Francesco Defferrari).
• Far across the cosmos, on another material plane, a race of pale-skinned humans called the Alphatians begins to rise to preeminence on their home-world and to study mighty magics (AY –4000). (Dawn of the Emperors).

BC 4600
• Elves and halfling found a common trading city in the region known as Platea, along the Kenaton river. (Francesco Defferrari).

BC 4560
• Civil war in the Serpentine empire and new decadence. (Francesco Defferrari).

c. BC 4500
• Beastmen are first encountered in the upper Borean Valley. These beastmen are wild, chaotic creatures that do not breed true; whelps may have some or none of the traits of their parents, may be of different size and appearance. This is all brought about by the magic of Hel, an Immortal of the sphere of Entropy, who wants to introduce more confusion, dismay, and death into the world. (GAZ10 Orcs of Thar, Daniel Boese, Knightfall).
• Mevu, a Maharian Neathar/Oltec civilization, begins in northeastern Davania. Other Asyidhian people (a culture originally from Bellisaria) spread in the eastern coast and to the Vulture Peninsula. (Francesco Defferrari).

The Blackmoor Era

Post by Knightfall » Sun Apr 29, 2018 7:30 am

The Blackmoor Era
c. BC 4250
• Establishment of the settlement of Blackmoor, the first official settlement of the Thonian Empire in the Northlands of ancient Skothar (DA1). Among the founders is also the mortal form of the Immortal Khoronus (WotI). The settlement of Vestfold is founded soon after Blackmoor village. The whole area is annexed to the Thonian Empire and called "The Province of the North" (DA1). It is possible that the Feys' migration to the Northlands happened in this period. The Feys were disappointed by the increasingly authoritarian government of the Thonian Empire (PC1). (LoZompatore).

BC 4004
• The kingdom of Blackmoor builds up its administration. The capital is Blackmoor City, but many administrative offices are set in the city of Vestfold. The Blackmoorians start settling the southern regions of their kingdom, conquered to the Thonians after the Battle of the Crystal Peaks. The barony of Dragonia is founded in this new region. Trade increases again the whole territory. Uther realises his old dream and builds the University of Blackmoor in Blackmoor City. The new University staff include dwarves, elves, halflings and many scholars sent by the bishop of Blackmoor Garamond Bolitho (DA1). (LoZompatore).

c. BC 4000
• Another human civilization, the Oltecs, begins a more stately rise toward civilization in lands far to the south of Blackmoor. Protected by deep forests and sheltering hills, they do not have any communication with Blackmoor. (GAZ14 Atruaghin Clans, Daniel Boese).
• On the home planet of the Alphatians, the Alphatians defeat the Cypris civilization and unwittingly begin to be assimilated by it. (Dawn of the Emperors).

BC 4000
• Events of DA1-DA4 series. Uther Andahar’s Great Rebellion led to the independence of the Province of Blackmoor from the Empire of Thonia. Rise of the kingdom of Blackmoor. By this time “pure” grey dragons are very rare on Mystara. (LoZompatore).
• The islands of Cathos and Vacros appear near Blackmoor (within 50 miles of the coastline in the Sun Sea) out of the mists of time from AC 1015 thanks to the Immortal known as Khoronus. This is 1,300 years before Cathos was originally founded in BC 1700. While the two islands do not survive the destruction of Blackmoor in BC 3000, the islands' denizens gains another 1,000 years of history. (Knightfall).

c. BC 3900-3800
• Births: Rise of the Saints in Blackmoor. Carmichael [Blackmoor] (c. BC 3900); Cuthberht [Blackmoor] (c. BC 3845). (Knightfall).

c. BC 3800 *
• Froglin make their way into the Thunder Rift valley of the Radrast Mountains. They eventually evolve into Newts (Knight of Newts).
  • {* “I've used Belathauzer and Håvard's timelines as my basis for placing the Thunder Rift in The World Unknown. The key difference is that I've moved the specific events set in the Thunder Rift forward 200 years to end at AC 1200 (with that year being the year when the Thunder Rift accessory/modules are set for TWU) and placed Thunder Rift in the Radrast Mountains near James Mishler's Kingdom of Galannor north of the Adri Varma Plateau.”}
Note: I currently don't own any of the Thunder Rift modules. -KF}

c. BC 3790-3760
• Deaths: Saint Carmichael (c. BC 3790); Saint Cuthberht (c. BC 3769). (Knightfall).

BC 3700
• Other Maharian people from Brun, the Eokai, reach northern Davania. (Francesco Defferrari).

BC 3600
• The Mawa (an Oltec people) slowly migrates from Skothar towards southern Brun and northeastern Davania, founding the Sea Kingdoms. (Francesco Defferrari).

c. BC 3500
• Sandfolk are believed to be brought to a Blackmoor colony in what becomes Glantri. Scholars estimate this could have happened as early as BC 4000 to as late as the year of The Great Rain of Fire. (Håvard).
• The Sundering of Northern Davania. Huge geologic upheavals in the Adakizondan Mountains of northern Davania creates the region later named the Addakian Sound (which gives an empire centred around the mountains its name). The mountain range is sundered in half and much of the land sinks beneath the waves, which destroys much of the Enduk Empire (although it survives the cataclysm). The mountain range is divided into what become known as the Izondian Wall to the west and the Adakkian Mounts in the east. Due to changing weather patterns across the waters of the Izondian Deep, new jungle growth quickly spreads through the area and grasslands replace significant regions of the desert. The interior lands remain arid, however. The basin to the west becomes home to roving clutches of thri-kreens. This desert becomes known as Izonda while the eastern desert lands retain the ancient name of Meghales Amosses. The ancient lands of the precursors of the Adakkians either lie in ruins or disappear under the sea and much of the region that was once the Amaluran Cliffs becomes swampy lowland. Native peoples believe that the cataclysm was an act of vengeance against the northern civilizations from the Immortals. The peoples of the flood plains are either swept away by flood waters or buried during massive earthquakes. Those that survive are forced to flee to other lands. While most of the thri-kreen die during this event, a few clutches survive in the Desert of Izonda. Most of the surviving rakasta prides migrate east. The sundering uncovers many ancient ruins from the time of the carnifex and the Lhomarrians, which causes quite the stir among the historians and power-mongers of Blackmoor. Expeditions are sent to the region, strange artifacts are uncovered, and a colony is established in secret. (Matthew Levy, Knightfall).

BC 3500
• Events of "Island of Sorcerers" episode of CM6 module. (LoZompatore).
• On the home planet of the Alphatians, the combined Alphatian/Cypris civilization uses its magical knowledge to begin colonizing and conquering nearby planets and to begin exploring the elemental planes. (Dawn of the Emperors).
• The Empire of Thonia is conquered by the Kingdom of Blackmoor (HW and DA1). The Blackmoorians meet the elves of Evergrun, who swiftly embrace their technological society. Four elven clans of Evergrun (Celebryl, Porador, Felistyr, Gelbalf) settle in the lands of Blackmoor. The priests of Blackmoor begins a crusade against the beastmen, whose homelands are located in the Borean Valley (HW, GAZ10). Possibly the elves follows the Blackmoorians crusaders, thus explaining the elves of Wendar and other pre-cataclysmic elves in the continent of Brun. Blackmoorian cities start to appear near the ancient elven lands of Davania. The Immortal named Garal Glitterlode creates a new race, called Ice Gnomes, in the mountains in the extreme south of Vulcania. (LoZompatore, Ethan Deneault).
• A rift occurs within the Oltec civilization; the more aggressive Azcan cities declare their independence and begin to wage war on the Oltecs. (Hollow World Campaign Set).
• Some dragons try to use magic to reach a higher form, but they are unsuccessful; they become the Gemstone Dragons. (History of Dragonkind [Simone Neri]).
• The Alatian Islands—including Aegos, Aeria, and Gaity—appear out of the mists of time, saving them from Alien Immortals devastating Mystara in AC 1015. The islands are located roughly 300 miles from what will one day be the Nentsun Coast. (Knightfall).
  • {"While the physical islands survive the destruction of Blackmoor in BC 3000, the culture that emerges on the islands shifts and weaves into the flow of time while working to ensure the future of Mystara isn't changed in a significant manner that would prevent the rise of the Known World." -KF}
BC 3499
• The City of Thimhallan is founded on Davania as the most 'Blackmoorian' of the elvish cities. It's real claim to fame is its use of an Immortal's artifact to power the city. (Ethan Deneault).

c. BC 3480-3400
• On the continent of Davania, migrating tribal humans from the northern coast of what will become known as Izondian Region, the southern mountains of the Brasol Range, and the western mountains of the Pelatan Shield begin to settle the new fertile lands of the newly created sound. For thousands of years, these tribes primarily exist as hunter gatherer bands (but they eventually begin creating isolated farming communities). However, no form of centralized human government arises in the region until after BC 1000. Humanoids move into the region as well but their numbers remain small in comparison to the human tribes until after BC 3000. (Matthew Levy, Knightfall).

BC 3436
• Birth: The Elf-Prince Aetharion is born. (Ethan Deneault).

BC 3364
• Death: Queen Tristilia of Gaity, and the Alatian Alliance, dies at the age of 179 after a magically extended lifespan. She was sent through time from AC 1015 with the 'true' citizens of Gaity and the Alphatian survivors on the Esterhold Peninsula and had become a devote follower of Khoronus for the rest of her life. (Knightfall).

BC 3300
• The Alatian Alliance splinters and the three islands become rivals with Gaity making a pact with Blackmoor. Aegos and Aeria begin to fight sea skirmishes near the end of the year. These sea battles continue for another 20 years. (Knightfall).

BC 3280
• The citizens of the Alatian Islands are forced by Blackmoor to declare peace. The islands become a distant colony of Blackmoor and several prominent mage families migrate to Aegos and Aeria. They are given titles and control over the new colony. While Gaity is allowed to keep its independence, a marriage is arranged between Blackmoor and small island nation. That marriage produces the next dynastic line that rules Gaity until Blackmoor is destroyed in BC 3000. (Knightfall).

BC 3250
• The northern half of the plains of Meghala Kimata appears out of the mists of time from AC 1015. They appear far to the north of Blackmoor and the Neathar Confederation. With the transplanted plains come several small city-states that once lived under the shadows of Illoloosil and Mivosia on future Davania. While these city-states do not survive the destruction of Blackmoor in BC 3000, the city-states gains another 250 years of history. Along with the city-states come over a dozen ancient ruins that were constructed around the time of the founding of the First Republic of Thonia. (Knightfall).

BC 3200
• War of the Dragonlord. Blackmoor crusaders push the beastmen near the old North Pole (HW, GAZ10). Dragons are alarmed by Blackmoor conquests and—mainly due to a series of misunderstandings—they start a war against the humans. The mages of Blackmoor develop a very powerful armour, the Dragonlord Arms, able to easily slay dragons. Its wearer, Aryan Bejnok, starts a series of campaigns against dragons, killing most of them and proclaiming himself the Dragonlord. Facing the extinction of his race, the mortal form of the Immortal Great One, the Ancestral Dragon Raakthyrl, discovers the plots of the gemstone dragons that are behind the war between the dragons and the Blackmoorians. The Great One battles and defeats the Dragonlord and together manage to ban the gemstone dragons, exiling them in the Plane of Veydra. The dragons and the Blackmoorians sign a truce and the war ends (DT) The Great One—likely one of the very last “pure” grey dragons—becomes an Immortal. Blackmoor gifts the Dragons with the Collar of Dragons. (LoZompatore, History of Dragonkind [Simone Neri]).

BC 3100
• Aquarendi elves seek the guardianship of Manwara, an Immortal of the sea, and enter the waters to begin a new life. (PC3 Sea People).

BC 3001
• While the bulk of the citizenry of the Alatian Islands have forgotten the fate of Blackmoor, the ruling clerics and mages of the islands have been preparing for the end of Blackmoor and the beginning of the new age. A magical shield is raised over the islands and the Alatians mange to survive the destruction. However, their island homes become unlivable and they are forced to migrate southeast towards what will someday become the Known World. (Knightfall).
That's it for now. I'm discovering gaps in my sourcing of material from the Vaults and other sources. -KF

Fall of Blackmoor

Post by Knightfall » Sun Apr 29, 2018 2:26 pm

Fall of Blackmoor
BC 3000
• The Great Rain of Fire (HW; many GAZs): Metropolitan Blackmoor and most of its colonies are destroyed on Skothar; the heart of the civilization is eradicated before the Immortals can intervene. A large Blackmoorish castle in the Endworld Line mountains survives the destruction and in the following centuries it becomes a temple of the Great One. Here gold dragons guard the Dragonlord Arms. (DT). The is the beginning of a cool down period known as the Ice Age of Fire (or more commonly, the First Little Ice Age). After some time, by the will of the Great One and of the gold dragons, the Dragon Nation is born. Some dragons prefer to stay out of it, and become the Renegades. The Ancestral Dragon breed becomes almost extinct. (LoZompatore, History of Dragonkind [Simone Neri], Knightfall).
• The Blackmoor explosion catches the Immortals off guard; they cannot summon enough power to prevent its most harmful effects. The Azcan and Oltec races are threatened with imminent extinction by the changing climate brought about by the Rain of Fire, so large numbers of both tribes are magically whisked to the Hollow World by the Immortals. (Hollow World Campaign Set, Daniel Boese)
• Fall of Evergrun. The cradle of elven civilization on Davania shifts to the world's southern pole where it freezes over and becomes an icecap. The surviving elves of Evergrun move to Grunland. Survivors of the elven colony in the Blackmoor region flee into the newly formed Highlands of southeastern Brun while other elves flee below the surface. (LoZompatore [edited by Knightfall]).
• Elsewhere on Mystara, many surviving Lhomarrian settlements in the Lost Valley are destroyed, many others are decimated by the climate change as temperatures drop considerably. Those that survive revert to a hunter-gatherer existence. (Geoff Gander). The shark-kin, after spending thousands of years on the land, return to the sea. (PC3 Sea People). In the ‘Glantri’ Blackmoor colony, sandfolk survivors of the Cataclysm seek refuge on the Adri Varma Plateau. All their knowledge of technology is lost and they revert to a stone age culture. (Håvard). Ice recedes from the steppe-lands of eastern Brun. Spirits are drawn to merge with the natural world. (GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar).
• On the Alphatian home-world, Alphatian agression has gradually been supplanted by Cypric self-absorption; exoplanetary conquests and colonies are left to fend for themselves as the Alphatian study of magic turns inward (AY –2000). (Dawn of the Emperors).

c. BC 3000-2500
• Formerly arctic areas of southeastern Brun, including most of the lands Known World, slowly become habitable as the ice recedes from regions that were formerly at the northern and southern poles. (many GAZs).
• Ka and his ally-Immortals must spend hundreds of years and incalculable magical energy to prevent the sudden change in the planet's axis from destroying whole regions of the Hollow World. The Immortals create new, gigantic, fog clad openings to the outside world at the location of the new poles, and seal up the former (smaller) polar openings. They also work madly to preserve numerous Outer World human tribes from extinction. (Hollow World Campaign Set, Daniel Boese).
• In the central lands of Davania, countless clans (and smaller families) of hin choose to migrate around the Brasol Range to find new lands to settle. The journey takes them down the Kenaton River and into the Adakkian Sound where they find solace among the human tribes that have been living there since the sound was formed. The halflings have soon created dozens of villages along the length of the sound and live alongside the humans in relative peace. The destruction of Blackmoor also causes many humanoids to migrate into the region as well. Tribes of troglodytes and caymen find their way into the Adakkian Wood and begin driving out the humans living there. (Hollow World Campaign Set, Håvard, Knightfall)

BC 2900
• The Ice Gnomes migrate north to the Vulcanian Marches. Garal Glitterlode, fearing the destruction of his beloved race, recreates several gnomish clans, and transplants them into colonies in the land that will later become Rockhome and the mountains of the northern continent. He instills false memories in them and hopes for the best. The Gnomes that are left in Vulcania learn much about Blackmoorian technology from the elves. (PC2 Top Ballista, Ethan Deneault).

BC 2800
• A new elven nation on the southern continent of Davania, in Vulcania, divides on the issue of magic versus technology. The magic-favouring separatists known as the Returnists under Ilsundral the Wise decides to abandon Blackmoor technology and return to the nature-oriented magic of their ancestors. They begin a long migration northward in the hope of finding the lost colony of elves that had settled near Blackmoor. (GAZ5, Elves of Alfheim, GAZ13 Shadow Elves, Daniel Boese [edited by Knightfall]).
• Azcans and Oltecs on the outer world have practically vanished, dispersed across the world and culturally transformed in every case. A small number of survivors take refuge in the caves of a mighty plateau. These are the ancestors of the modern Atruaghin Clan. This plateau, although impressive, is nowhere near as grand as the one that now stands in the lands north of the Sea of Dread. They retain a dim memory, retold and altered into myth and folklore, of Azcan and Oltec glory and strife. They also remember the mysterious disappearance of many kin. (GAZ14 Atruaghin Clans, Daniel Boese).
• The city of Windreach is built in the Wyrmsteeth Range. (History of Dragonkind [Simone Neri]).

BC 2600
• Carnuilh, fair skinned Neolithic humans settle on the Adri Varma Plateau. The humans keep to the northern parts of the Plateau while the Sandfolk dominate the south. (Håvard).
• On Davania, the City of Thimhallan's power source fails mysteriously. Within months the entire populace is dead. Four of the last elven scientists of Thimhallan seal themselves in stasis, guaranteeing their survival. (Ethan Deneault).

BC 2500
• Gnomes and dwarves enter the Northern Reaches region and settle in its hills and mountains as the continental ice sheets recede. (GAZ7 Northern Reaches, Daniel Boese).
• The Taymora humans settle the southern shores of the northern continent of Brun. (PC3 Sea People).
• In Vulcania, the elvish civilization is losing its battle with the elements; it has forgotten most of its magic and its Blackmoor technology is failing. A second separatist group of southern elves begins its long march northward. (GAZ5 Elves of Alfheim, Daniel Boese).
• The Blackmoorian Alatians found several clandestine communities in the Hardanger Mountain Range and Great Marsh. They keep to themselves and try to stay out of history's way. Their younger people cannot resist watching the world progress and debating the history they were taught versus the history that unfolds in front of them. (Knightfall).

c. BC 2500-2000
• After the Enduk Empire falls at the hands of the Minotaur of Minoides, the minotaurs themselves inhabit much of Northwestern Davania while warring with the elves of Pelatan and Kwythellar and the lizard-kin and Gyerian clans of the region. Continual warfare weakens the minotaurs, and when the Tanagoro colonists arrive from the west, they drives the minotaurs into the Desert of Izonda. There the minotaurs continue to fight the lizard-kin and begin skirmishing with the thri-kreen. Meanwhile, the Tanagoro slowly move to the plains beyond and lose all contact with their homeland. They set up seven tribes based on 'profession' to help deal with their new land but the younger generation feels they can look after each other without so-called laws (thus, the creation of the sibling bands).(Francesco Defferrari, Steven B Wilson, Knightfall).

BC 2400
• Beastmen move south and prosper in southern Borea. Tribes gather along the banks of the Borean River and found the city of Urzud. (GAZ13 Shadow Elves).
• A great volcanic explosion occurs in Vulcania, destroying the remnants of the southern elvish civilization. The six gnomish clans of the region (Zarka, Drassar, Gemeiyr, Pegdhart, Skyras, and Snarta) move into the remains of the ancient elvish cities. The last elvish city is occupied around BC 2300. (GAZ5 Elves of Alfheim, Daniel Boese, Ethan Deneault, Knightfall).

BC 2300
• Ilsundal's elves cross the Strait of Izonda to the Immortal's Arm, then head east along the Savage Coast. Another group takes another route through the Addakian Sound, where they rejoin Ilsundal's band and continue with them. (GAZ5 Elves of Alfheim, Daniel Boese)

BC 2200
• Elves with origins from far to the south on the continent of Davania migrate into the frozen valleys and highlands of what will one day become Glantri. (GAZ3 Principalities of Glantri, GAZ13 Shadow Elves).

BC 2100
• Ilsundal's migration reaches Sylvan Realm, far to the west of the lands that will become the Known World. Meditor and Verdier elf clans break off from the Migration of Ilsundal to the west. They come to settle in the southern lands of Traladara. (GAZ5 Elves of Alfheim, GAZ13 Shadow Elves, Daniel Boese [edited by Knightfall]).
• The Bronze Age humans living along the Nithia River encounter the Blackmoorian Alatians for the first time. The Nithians view the surviving Alatians as precursor beings—masters of magic and time. Despite the warnings of the Alatian Elders to their younger kin, trade begins between the two peoples. (Knightfall).

BC 2053
• A lich named Ektarmorag and his undead army of elves suddenly appear in the far south of Davania near the polar opening. His kingdom soon borders on many gnomish clan-lands, and his undead armies ravage the gnomes. Only later is it discovered that Ektarmorag was in life the Elf-Prince Aetharion. (Ethan Deneault).

Rise of Nithia and the Glantrian Catastrophe

Post by Knightfall » Sun Apr 29, 2018 6:50 pm

Rise of Nithia
BC 2000
• The human tribes living along the Nithia River progress from a Bronze Age culture to an Iron Age culture. Other parts of the world remain firmly entrenched in the Bronze Age. The cold retreats from much of the southern parts of the continent of Brun. This is the end of the First Little Ice Age that resulted from the destruction of Blackmoor. It lasted 1,000 years. (Dawn of the Emperors, GAZ1 Grand Duchy of Karameikos, Knightfall).
• Elsewhere on Brun, the Beastmen have now evolved into the modern species of orcs, goblins, ogres, giants, and trolls. (GAZ10 Orcs of Thar). Also, the Ethengars arrive and settle in fertile lands of eastern Brun that become known as the Sea of Grass steppes and the first human settlements in the coastal and island lowlands of the Northern Reaches are founded. (GAZ7 Northern Reaches, GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar, Daniel Boese, Knightfall).

c. BC 2000-1720
• Time of Cataclysms. A series of intense volcanic eruptions, massive earthquakes, and ocean flooding split several large land masses from what will become the lands of the Known World. This shifting of land strands the Eokai, Oteino, and Mawa, as well as tribes of lizard-kin (on the western islands) and the Mediator water elves (on what will become Alfeisle). The Taymora civilization is destroyed by these upheavals. The new land masses continue to split apart over the next 250 years, which forms over two dozen islands off the the southern coast of Brun. Primitive merrow enter the newly formed Sunlit Sea following the destruction of their homes to the south. Elsewhere, Antalian colonists migrate southward into the lands later to be called the Northern Reaches. (GAZ4 Kingdom of Ierendi, GAZ7 Northern Reaches, GAZ9 Minrothad Guilds, PC3 Sea People, Daniel Boese, Knightfall).

BC 1900
• On the continent of Skothar to the east of Alphatia and Bellissaria, a nomadic, cavalry-based race of warriors grows strong. These are the Jennites—copper-skinned descendants of an Oltec expeditionary party. Their language and customs have evolved far away from their Oltec origins. (Dawn of the Emperors).
• The near mystical Alatian Queen known as Tristilia of Gaity is added to the Immortal pantheon of the Nithians as another Immortal (but she doesn't become a true Immortal until AC 15). The Blackmoorian Alatians help the Nithians make better iron weapons, but their Elders insist that their kin do not teach them future magic. (Knightfall).

BC 1870
• The first marriage between a Blackmoorian Alatian man and a Nithian woman is agreed upon by the two cultures. The Alatian Elders insist the married couple live among the Alatians. Future marriage are strictly enforced by the Alatian Elders. (Knightfall).
• Across the cosmos on the World of Kulan, the immortal-like being known as Cronn appears for the first time in a region of the planet known as the Lands of Harqual. The god's origins remain shrouded in mist. A new race of humans are created in his wake as is a new pantheon of barbaric deities that are similar to many of the Immortals that are worshipped in northern Brun. (Knightfall).

BC 1800
• Ilsundal becomes an Immortal and creates the first Tree of Life. Kaygar the Artisan, an Immortal of the Sphere of Matter, and a patron of mortal arts and crafts, decides to create a race which will prove resistant to annihilation like that which destroyed Blackmoor. From the ancient dwarven race, he constructs the “modern” dwarves who are more resistant to radiation poisoning. (GAZ13 Shadow Elves).
• Ten generations after their arrival in Northwestern Davania, the Tanagoro have learned to domesticate the ox and zebra. All knowledge of their homelands is lost to myth and legend. They now think of themselves as Aricans. (Steven B Wilson).

BC 1790
• On Davania, Clan Zarka's stronghold is utterly wiped out in an assault by undead. There are no survivors of the assault. King Borodar of Zarka, who is away at a clan meeting, vows revenge. Fearing that simple gnome-power can not stand up to the undead, he proposed the construction of five giant war machines that he calls Earthshakers. (Ethan Deneault).

BC 1785-1780
• The War of the Earthshakers. In less than 30 years the five war-machines of the gnomes of Davania are completed. Each Earthshaker is to be controlled by one of the five remaining clans of gnomes, with King Borodar as the overall leader. The Earthshakers are each designed differently, though they are all basically humanoid-shaped, and between 800 to 1,200 feet tall. These massive devices succeed in destroying Ektarmorag by collapsing the lich's palace around him. Of the five clans represented in the battle, only four survive. King Borodar sacrifices his Earthshaker to personally destroy Ektarmorag, which costs the lives of the last of Clan Zarka and all of Clan Drassar. (Ethan Deneault [edited by Knightfall]).

BC 1770
• On Davania, the four remaining gnomish clans decide to leave their cursed lands. Knowing that they can not all travel together, the Clanmasters draw lots to see which clans should band together. In the end, Clan Gemeiyr and Clan Skyras take their Earthshakers and head east while the other two clans head west. The Earthshakers of Clan Pegdhart and Clan Snarta head toward the Ice Peaks. However, neither Earthshaker is resilient enough for the journey and both brake down in different valleys deep within the mountains. Clan Gemeyir settles in the Lost Valley. They use the parts from their Earthshaker to build the great gnomish city of Berren. Clan Skyras' Earthshaker never make it out of the Vulcanian Marches, as the clan disintegrates over succession rights in BC 1769. (Ethan Deneault [edited by Knightfall]).

BC 1750
• On Davania, the hin communities located along the Adakkian sound begin to rise to dominate the region. They push the troglodytes and caymen into the deeper parts of the Adakkian Wood and have outpaced the human tribes of the region in culture. Soon there are a dozen cities spread throughout the region. These Hin City-States remain independent of each other but work together in regards to protection from marauding humanoids from the Brasol Range or the deserts of Davania. Servasta Prides living along the edges of the Meghales Amosses Desert and Thri-Kreen clutches from the Desert of Izonda are a constant threat, as both have a taste for halflings. (Knightfall).

BC 1725
• King Loark of the humanoids organizes an army of humanoids known as the Great Horde. They migrate southeastwards into the lands of men, ravaging as they go, continuing Loark's Quest for a Blue Knife. Great waves of hill goblins, trolls, and giants especially begin moving southward into areas now occupied by human settlers. (GAZ14 Atruaghin Clans).

BC 1722
• The Immortals Odin and Thor have sent whole Antalian tribes into the Hollow World, placing them in icy lands south and east of the Beastman territories. The Antalians thrive in their new home, happily fighting among themselves, with the Beastmen to the north and with the Neathar tribes to the southwest. (Hollow World Campaign Set).

BC 1721
• Akkila Khans forces sweep through the eastern parts of the Adri Varma Plateau on their way to Glantri. Humanoids mix blood with the Carnuilh forming The Oghriz. (Håvard).

BC 1720
• The Verdier wood elves living along the southeastern coastline of Brun decide to build ships and join their Mediator cousins, heeding the omens of their Immortal patrons. The wood elves migrate to Alfeisle. The Verdier fair elves remain on the continent. (GAZ9 Minrothad Guilds).

BC 1711
• The female Blue Dragon Belthinferelth is tricked by the shamans of Akkila-Khan. The Battle of Many Days is fought. (History of Dragonkind [Simone Neri]).

BC 1710
• The Great Horde of humanoids led by King Loark invades the Sea of Grass steppes and ensalves the primitive Ethengars. King Loark's horde is joined by Akkila-Khan's humanoid horde. Together they ravage the steppes. (GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar).

BC 1709
• Akkila-Khan joins with the Ethengars and defeats King Loark at the Battle of Chongor. King Loark's Great Horde splinters: the trolls head east, the goblins south, and the rest of the Great Horde is driven out of the Sea of Grass steppes and into the Broken Lands. (GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar).

The Glantrian Catastrophe
BC 1700
• Death: King Loark of the Beastmen (see below).
• A local elven clan living in isolation in southeastern Brun, later known as the highlands and valley of Glantri, find and tinker with a buried Blackmoorian device, which causes it to explode with devastating effects—a whole mountain range is destroyed and debris and dust lifted by the explosion darkens the skies for years, plunging much of eastern Brun into a Second Little Ice Age. The local cataclysm rakes the region that soon becomes known as the Broken Lands and buries the humanoids of the Great Horde. After King Loark dies, the surviving humanoids of his horde break apart. Giants, and trolls are driven into the Northern Reaches in successive waves of migration. The explosion also causes a strange rotting plague among the surviving elves (those who were far enough away). These elves shelter themselves in the deepest caves of the region. They find an incredible series of caverns there and begin a painstaking decades-long migration. The travelling clans are separated from one another in the Shadowdeep as they travel. These underworld migrants are the ancestors of the Hollow World's Gentle Folk, Icevale Elves, and the Schattenalfen. A fourth group, led by an elf king named Atziann, does not fare as well. While some of them (including their king) emerge years later—hundreds of miles to the south past the Broken Lands—the bulk of them perish during their journey. (GAZ3 Principalities of Glantri, GAZ13 Shadow Elves, Hollow World Campaign Set, Daniel Boese, Håvard, Knightfall, et al.).
• In the Nithian Empire, Pharaoh Horon Ausar comes to power at the beginning of the First Dynasty and asks for the blessing of the Elders of the Blackmoorian Alatians and the right to add a dozen beautiful Alatian women to his harem. He is given the first but only allowed to take one woman as a favoured wife. He begrudgingly accepts, and she eventually gives birth to a daughter named Horon Hatarat who become the empire's first female Pharaoh between BC 1633-1598. Her grandson, Ausar Eskar, becomes Pharaoh at the beginning of the Second Dynasty (BC 1570). (Knightfall, James Mishler).
• Elsewhere in the region, the catastrophe forms the Land of the Black Sand in the Ethengar Steppes. Also while the devastation is widespread in eastern Brun, the lands far to the west do not experience a cooling down period while central Brun's temperatures fluctuate wildly depending on proximity to the epicentre of the explosion. (Daniel Boese, Knightfall)

BC 1700-1600
• The Birth of the Makai Culture. The aboriginal cultures of the Eokai, Oteino, and Mawa merge into the people known as the Makai (c. BC 1600)—with the Mawa being the prevailing influence for the new culture that emerges. The Makai continued to live peacefully and flourish on their islands for the next six centuries (BC 1600-1000), troubled only from time to time by clashes against the lizard-kin and—starting from BC 1300—by the raids of Traldar galleys. (GAZ4 Kingdom of Ierendi).

BC 1691
• Baka betrays Akkila-Khan and he and his forces drive Akkila's humanoids out of the steppes and into the Broken Lands. (GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar).

BC 1688
• Baka is declared Khan of all Ethengars. (GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar).

BC 1681
• Death: Baka Khan is poisoned. The Ethengars war over who will be his successor. This is the beginning of the first War of Succession. (GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar).

BC 1660
• The War of Succession ends inconclusively. The Ethengars split into hundreds of clans and compete with each other for the best grazing lands on the Sea of Grass steppes. (GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar).

BC 1650-1550
• This time period is the height of the Hin City-States in the Addakian Sound on the continent of Davania. There are ten city-states and over three dozen vassal communities spread throughout the sound and in the forested hills of the Brasol Range. Servasta numbers are in decline due to large scale skirmishes and the Thri-Kreen migrate away from the halfling lands into the western half of the Desert of Izonda to keep from being hunted to extinction. The human tribes retreat from the sound to the edges of the desert. Others migrate into the forested hills that sit along the western peaks of the Adakkian Mounts, where even the hin fear to tread. The hin come to believe that they hunt the troglodytes and caymen to extinction, but, in truth, the Immortals move the bulk of the humanoids to the Hollow World. A handful of troglodytes are forced to survive in caves along the western mountain range of Brasolia while the surviving caymens move out of the forests and into the waters of the Adakkian Sound. (Knightfall).

BC 1500
• Nithian culture begins its climb to dominance during its Second Dynasty (BC 1570-1392). The ruler of the Nithian Empire on this year is Ausar Djetar, son of Eskar. He rules until BC 1488 and builds many great pyramids and monuments during his lifetime. His son, Ausar Senek, builds a dozen pyramids in the years to come after his father's death, which are spread throughout the empire. He also builds a grand temple dedicated to Tristilia, who the Nithians call Tahirah Thema (“The Pristine Queen”). (GAZ1 Grand Duchy of Karameikos, Knightfall, James Mishler).
• The Nithian clan known as the Traldar travel to and colonize the lands that will eventually become known as Traladara (and then Karameikos). A dozen Blackmoorian Alatians defy their Elders and go with them. This leads to a mixed Alatian-Traldar bloodline. Other Nithian clans spread into what becomes Darokin. (GAZ1 Grand Duchy of Karameikos, Knightfall).
• Free Traldar tribes fleeing the emerging Nithian Empire found Salonikos (later Selenica), the first major human settlement in what will become Darokin, around this time. They, along with other fleeing tribes, will emerge as a distinct culture—the Doulakki—over the next several centuries. (Aaron Nowack).
• Elsewhere on Mystara, the Immortal Pflarr creates the Hutaakans and places them in mountainous regions of the Known World. (Hollow World Campaign Set). A group of halflings pause in their northward migration at Thanegia Island. Dismayed by the unrest in the land, they quickly move on. (Daniel Boese).
• On the home-world of the Alphatians, their civilization achieves total mastery of the world's enviroment. The great Alphatian universities are at the peak of their powers and just beginning to indulge in serious scholastic competitions, and pettifoggery (AY –500). (Dawn of the Emperors).

BC 1458
• In Ethengar, Chibai Khan leads his tribe to victory and establishes himself as Lord of the Steppes. (GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar).

BC 1450
• Death: Chibai Khan.
• The Sea of Grass steppes are wracked by tribal warfare following Chibai Khan's death. Numerous khans rise and fall through the second War of Succession. (GAZ12 Golden Khan of Ethengar).
• The Blackmoorian Alatraldaran families in Traladara leave those lands and travel across the sea to Davania. (Knightfall).

BC 1420
• The elves that moved underground after the destruction of Blackmoor discover a temple to Atzanteotl under the lands of southeastern Brun and build the city of Aengmor around it. (GAZ13 Shadow Elves).

BC 1400
• Denwarf discovers the great cavern he calls Dengar and decides his time is done. He disappears into the lower caverns. The second dwarven king, Everast I, is crowned. The dwarves begin to build their greatest city within the Dengar cavern.
• To the south and west of Salonikos, Atruaghin unites several Azcan-descended tribes. Doulakki explorers and traders begin to call them the Atruaghin Clans. During this time, they are spread over much of what will later be southern Darokin as well as the lands they inhabit until the time of the Devastation War. (Aaron Nowack [edited by Knightfall]).
• Within five generations, the Traldar settlers in Traladara suffer disastrous population loss due to harsh winters, animal attacks, and disease. They quickly regress to a pre-agricultural lifestyle and are dominated by the mountain-dwelling jackal-headed humanoids of Hutaaka. (GAZ1 Grand Duchy of Karameikos, Karameikos: Kingdom of Adventure).
• On the continent of Davania, the factions that were once Clan Skyras no longer remember why they are fighting. By now there are at least 30 different clans battling for superiority by building more advanced weaponry. These groups are the ancestors of the Earthshaker clans of the Vulcanian Marches. (Ethan Deneault).

BC 1350
• After a long sea voyage from Traladara on Brun (that takes them across the Sea of Dread, through the Strait Izonda, down past the lands of ancient Pelatan, and overland through the lands that will become the Gyerian Nations), the Blackmoorian Alatraldaran families arrive in the southern region of the Brasolian Wood. They move into the outer and inner foothills of the Brasol Range and build new communities. The Alatraldarans avoid the ancient Pteryx ruins and the denizens of the Lost Valley as best they can, and their new civilization remains in isolation for roughly 300 years. (Knightfall).

BC 1310-1305
• The Quest for Steel. Wogar Tribe migrates west from Blackmoor to a great lake called The Cradle. After a prophecy from the Great Shaman, they move south following the shaman's floating gri-gri. (GAZ13 Shadow Elves).

BC 1300
• Several more Doulakki city-states are established in pre-Darokin by this point, of which the largest are Dolos, near the modern city of that name, and Kanosis, in the grasslands that will later be Alfheim. Conflicts between Doulakki settlers and the Atruaghin become common as the Doulakki begin to settle the Streel Valley. (Aaron Nowack).
• Hutaakans settle in the Thunder Rift. The new community soon establishes contact with the Hutaakans of Traladara, opening a Magical Gate in the northern mountains of Thunder Rift leading to those lands (near the modern day village of Bywater in Karameikos). (Escape from Thunder Rift)
• Hutaakan clerics pull Ashai Monolith from the sky. The monolith is a holy artifact from the lands of Ashai on the moon of Patera. Centuries later, Rakasta from Ashai will come looking for the Monolith. The Hutaakans use the inherent invisibility magic found in the rock to create a protective spell around the valley, keeping it hidden from outsiders. Unfortunately, it is too late. One group of invaders have already located the valley... (Extrapolated from Rage of Rakasta).
• The hin from the southern continent of Davania, long-abandoned by their friends the elves, and increasingly endangered by the ever-growing human population, make a mass naval migration to the northern continent. They settle the area later called the Five Shires, which they name Faerdinel. They become friends with a declining, pacifistic clan of elves called the Gentle Folk. (Daniel Boese).
• A large horde of humanoids invades Northwestern Davania from the north and enslaves the Aricans. Ogres mate with Arican slaves and give birth to a new race of ogre-kin who are much smarter than their ogre parents. (Steven B Wilson).

BC 1300-1100
• The halflings of the Hin City-States choose to remain in Davania and compete against the rising tide of humanity, as well as humanoids. While their culture is in decline, they continue to be stout warriors. They clash violently with the Varellyan dissidents of Talkai and their Sollux allies, but the conflicts are usually short-term. They war constantly with the half-orcs of Emesi who are descendants of the original humans they once lived among in peace. The Rakasta Prides and Oltec descendants of Dreka fight a guerrilla war against the Hin City-States with the help of renewed Servasta Prides. The Sis'thik empire of Shain often demands tribute from the hin communities and when these tributes are ignored, the Sis'thik rally their forces along with hired Troglodyte privateers from Ka and mercenaries from Shami. This constant warfare eventually becomes too much for the lower caste hin clans and many of them flee back the Hin Lands of Platea. By the end, the upper caste hin clans have been either cast out or sold as tribute to the city-states' many enemies. Many of these halflings remain as slaves in the humanoid empires to this day. The warrior caste clans sue for peace and give up a great deal of territory but internal squabbling and weak economical leadership ruins the city-states. A few of the oldest clans go down fighting in a crusade against the Servasta while the others either flee into the desert basins of Meghales Amosses or board ships and sail out of the Adakkian Sound and through the Straits of Izonda for lands unknown. The abandoned city-states are either claimed by local humanoids or by the jungle. (Knightfall, Francesco Defferrari).

BC 1290
• Atzanteotl surrounds Aengmor with lava, slaying many underground elves. The survivors flee into the deepest tunnels and recesses below the Broken Lands. (GAZ13 Shadow Elves).

BC 1257
• The Wogar Tribe of Red Orcs emerges from the east and conquers the Atruaghin. A portion of the horde moves north a few years later, torching a small trading post named Akorros. (Aaron Nowack).

BC 1250
• Ogre followers of Sumag arrive in the Tanagoro Lands of Northwestern Davania and are initially welcomed. However, some of the ogres, influenced by Hel, enslave the humans. Over the centuries, for good or bad, the two populations mix and ogre-kin are born. (Francesco Defferrari [edited by Knightfall]).

BC 1200
• By this point thriving, if small, Doulakki cities on the sites of future Akorros and Athenos are established. (Aaron Nowack).
• Human civilization in Oceania destroyed by Night Dragons. Survivors flee to nearby Cestia. (History of Dragonkind [Simone Neri]).
• A large Tanagoro colony is founded on the tip of the Vulcanian Peninsula. The dark-skinned human tribes soon spread through most of the forested areas of eastern Vulcania and periodically war with the gnomes of the Marches. Clan Snarta moves northward, out of the mountains, and into the Meghala Kimata Plains. (Ethan Deneault).

BC 1190
• Descendants of the Great Horde surface in the Broken Lands. The Tribes meet again and discover the Rock of Oenkmar. End of the Quest for the Blue Knife, the sacrificial dagger in the
Temple of Atzanteotl. Truce proclaimed. (GAZ13 Shadow Elves).

BC 1104
• Underground elves discover the Refuge of Stone and take the name of shadow elves unto themselves. Building work begins on the City of the Stars. Myfallar The Old is chosen as temporary King. (GAZ13 Shadow Elves).

BC 1100
• A group of Nithians, lead by the hero-adventurer Minroth, colonize the eastern half of the Euhai Archipelago* just south of southeastern Brun in the Sea of Dread. They found the community of Horonak (aka Harbourtown) on what will will become known as Trader Isle and name this newly settled region the Colony Islands. In the east, the Nithians establish a colony on the Isle of Dawn. (Dawn of the Emperors, GAZ9 Minrothad Guilds).
  • {* "This is the name I've given to all the islands that comprise of the Kingdom of Ierendi and the Minrothad Guilds (but not the islands of the Empire of Thyatis). This is the Makai name for the archipelago. E uhai means “to break” or “to break away” in Hawaiian (via Google Translate)." -KF}
BC 1090
• On the Alphatian home-world, a vicious rivalry begins between the Followers of Air and the Followers of Flame, with the Flames be the aggressors. (Dawn of the Emperors).

BC 1050
• Great wizards of the Nithians create the gnolls by magically blending trolls and gnomes. They had hoped to duplicate the servant-race of Pflarr, but the results were catastrophic for the world. Gnolls turned to to be savage, strong, warlike, and highly prolific. The gnolls are rejected by the Nithian wizards as failures and many of them are killed. The rest escape their creators and make their way in the Broken Lands where they come to compete with orcs and other dangerous humanoids. (Hollow World Campaign Set, Knightfall).
• On the continent of Davania in the secluded southwestern foothills of the Brasol Range, the hidden Alatraldaran civilization is discovered by the Gairak Clans of the Brasolian Wood. The mixed-blooded humanoids raid into Alatraldara but are firmly beaten back by the magical skills and strange devices of the Alatraldarans. The technology that the Alatraldarans wield are a legacy of Blackmoor but tempered by time and the past mistakes of other civilizations. It keeps the Gairak Clans at bay but the humanoids continue to raid into Alatraldara over the next 50 years. (Knightfall).

BC 1040
• Tarasfir is enthroned as the first King of the Shadow Elves selected by the shamans of Rafiel. (GAZ13 Shadow Elves).

BC 1027
• On the Alphatian home-world, sporadic violence breaks out between the Followers of Air and the Followers of Flame. (Dawn of the Emperors).

BC 1010
• On the Alphatian home-world, a temporary peace results from one academian's proposal of a debate between Air and Flame. (Dawn of the Emperors).

BC 1009
• On the Alphatian home-world, Emperor Alphaks I arbitrarily declares the Flames to have won the debate. Outrage, protest, and outright rebellion & revolt result, as the Followers of Air war with the Followers of Flame. (Dawn of the Emperors).
Up Next: Arrival of the Alphatians and First Traldar Dark Age. -KF
