There is also FROA1 Ninja Wars.

And both the 1e Deities & Demigods and the 2e Legends & Lore have some chapters that would be useful.

Yes sorry, a quick C&P. Edited the post to make it clearer. I also was being amazed by The Dark's post of the Dragon magazine articles!

Being familiar with DragonDex and remembering a few of the oddballs (such as the Indian fantasy that wasn't officially OA) helped me compile that. I know I missed a few articles (for example, there's a second Sumo article in Dragon #157, but I can't remember the title), but I think I got all of the relevant issues.

I was just glancing back in this thread and finally noticed "•MC6 Kara-Tur Monstrous Compendium" under 1st Ed AD&D.

ALL the Monstrous Compendiums were 2nd Ed products so this should be 2nd Ed. My memory says that the oriental dragons for 1st Ed were in the Fiend Folio, if correct that would go innto the 1st Ed list.

The Monstrous Compendium products were all AD&D 2e, not 1e.

Thanks! I will fix this.

And just checked, the Oriental Dragons are in the Fiend Folio.

Will add both now! :)

Monstrous Compendium Volume Three: Forgotten Realms Appendix included the chiang lung, li lung, lung wang, pan lung, shen lung, t'ien lung, tun mi lung, and yu lung under the heading for Oriental Dragons.

The Planescape Campaign Setting boxed set included a detailed look at the Palace of Judgment, the realm of Yen-Wang-Yeh, Chinese god of the dead.

Planes of Chaos details the Gates of the Moon, where the Indian god Soma dwells (though he's barely mentioned).

Planes of Law details Nectar of Life (Brihaspati's realm), Goldfire (Mitra's and Surya's realm), and Resounding Thunder (Lei Kung's realm).

Planes of Conflict details the Great Mother's Garden (realm of the Chinese power Liu), and the Teardrop Palace (realm of Sung Chiang).

On Hallowed Ground details the Chinese, Japanese, and Indian pantheons.

From what I remembered, a few asian-themed monsters appeats in MM1 for AD&D.
- Ki-Rin
-Yeti
- Hobgoblin (depicted with Japan-like armors)
- Giant rat (said to be Sumatran).
