[Ostoria] 5e pregenerated PCs for the Giant Age

Post by Coronoides » Tue Apr 23, 2019 3:16 am

I'll be posting regenerated characters for the Age of Ostoria here. Please post your own Ostoria characters if you want.. The Age of Ostoria is my subsetting for the Forgotten Realms set in the distant past when giants ruled. Check out my other [Ostoria] threads especially the one on character options here viewtopic.php?f=18&t=20167.
Creating PCs is a form of play testing is a fun way to generate new material for the setting like equipment and rules clarifications.

First up is Bor the hill giant gladiator. I had some fun with this one. Nothing intimidates foes quite like a fake leopard skin loincloth with a rhino skull for a belt buckle. The link is to a ready to play character sheet PDF https://www.dropbox.com/s/f53zdqm287ctx ... 2.pdf?dl=0.

The second in our travelling band is their leader a Cloud giant noble poet. Saereid wanders the land seeking great writings and exceptional poets. During her travels she uses her magic laced words to curb the cruelty of some giant nobles.

Have you thought of organizing all your Ostoria material in one document and publishing it, maybe on DMsGuild?

Yes that is the eventual plan. At least it’s an option with the Ostoria project. My Council of Wryms work does not qualify for the Guild. However, this is a big project and rpg writing takes second place to work writing. Expected publish date is June 2022! In the meantime enjoy my first drafts here and critique the work to make the final project better. Even when it does come out pricing will be about partial cost recovery for layout, art, etc rather than profit.
Here is the plan:
Pre-existing material
1. Analyse the WOTC rules to reverse engineer the race creation rules. Status: Done
2. Extend the same by utilising existing rules and power-curves. Status: Done
3. Play-test these race design rules. Status: Done
4. Using the above develop the traits giants dragons and other needed races. Status: Done
Years June 2018 - June 2020
5. Play-test the races to be used. Status: In progress 7%
6. Full Write-ups for the races. Status: In progress 72%
7. Read all canon information on Ostoria and incorporate into the project. Status: In Progress. 17% Help from the FR fanbase greatly appreciated!
8. Rules covering setting specific character options and equipment. Status: Started 51%
9. Draft map. 5%
Year June 2020 - June 2022
10. Recruit cartographer and finalise map Status: Not Started 0%
11. Write extrapolations and material needed to turn the work to date into a coherent book. Status: Not started 0%
12. Drafts, art, final polish, publish Status: Not started 0%

Canon
I will read through the canon sources on Ostoria and giant culture and add canon information to this document as I do so.
Monster Manual 5e Status. Completed
Volos Guide to Monsters 5e Completed
Storm Kings Thunder (I assume) 5e Status. Started. As part of the play-test process I am playing this as a solo adventure.
The Grand History of the Realms 3.5e Status. Started up to page 92.
Giant Craft 2e Status. Not Started
Monster Mythology 2e Status. Not Started
Twilight Giants Trilogy novel 2e Status. Not Started.

Enna the Elf ‘Wizard’ and agent of Ilythiiri is more than she appears to be.

This is my first humanoid (non-giant) for the setting. I tried to give her ties to setting and motivations that reflect some of the power struggles happening. That said, I am saving the ‘Big Damn Hero’ humanoid for the Demigod. Enna therefore is subtle and understated with hidden power, as is often the case with secretive and fey Green Elves.

A few days ago I posted a way to make less complicated and faster to generate 12th level characters. Check out my other Ostoria thread on character options. Basically powerful races could take d20 HD instead of class levels during character gen provided they have at least one class level. I also noted that the least complicated 12th level character would be a first level hill giant. Here he is
