[D&D 5e] The Border Kingdoms: A Forgotten Realms Campaign Supplement

Post by shesheyan »

I'm glad WoTC is letting the original author do some official work Forgotten Realms.

The Border Kingdoms: A Forgotten Realms Campaign Supplement: According to the sage Meriadas of Westgate: “The Border Kingdoms are the most favored destination for adventurers who want to proudly and boldly conquer a realm or establish their own new kingdom. Lords, counts, dukes, kings and emperors rise, proclaim themselves, and are swept away with the speed and regularity of waves crashing upon a shore.”

By Ed Greenwood, Alex Kammer

Quote : «Yeah, there were the articles in Polyhedron, some later parts were covered in Power of Faerun (IIRC; it may have been one of the other late 3.xE era books), and then some were covered on the WotC website. This, however, is a complete update of all the Border Kingdoms and includes an even better map than had previously been published. »

No, I mean a complete supplement for 5e, penned also by Greenwood, and published by the same company that distributed AL adventures set in that region. I remember having a discussion with a friend a few months ago on Kingmaker (the video game), and the potential to build your own kingdom, when that book was mentioned while we talked about running a similar campaign.

I wonder if the book you link is an updated version of the one previously published, or a completely new one.

[EDIT] Found it on RPGGeek. The publisher is Gamehole Publishing, it's dated 2018 and its blurb is identical.

Ed Greenwood: "If you bought the earlier version, you have the place-lore tour, but not the new map, the character backgrounds, or the uberplots. So you have about 80 percent of it already."

That pretty much clears it up, thanks for the heads up! Now that this has resurfaced, coupled with long hours of Heroes 3 , my group is in the talks again for setting a short Border Kingdoms campaign.
