Fiend of Possession / Spelljammer Help

So this class, can posses objects and at some level control them.

How could I use that to help control a Spelljammer? Wouldn't it make the ship intelligent really?

But is there a benefit to it?

You can't. Objects can be no larger than Huge.

I imagine a demon possessing a ship would result in an adventure not dissimilar to the movie Event Horizon.

The class can possess objects up to Colossal size.

The thought here was that possibly I could develop a helm that the fiend could use WHILE possessing the ship. Then they could power and control the ship. Plus it could coordinate weapon fire since it can control them as well. It could open doors, address fires and maybe direct an unseen crew to help protect the ship.

I agree with Dalillama. It says "Huge" in the "Possess Object" ability:

Where are you getting Colossal from? :?

That aside, the ability to control smaller objects on a spelljamming ship could be fairly disruptive.

Knots holding sails could be untied. Objects could be tossed overboard, landing in the gravity plane and eventually vanishing into Wildspace. But avFiend of Possession would need to gain Control Object before it could do that. And that's 3rd Level.

Possess Noncontinuous Object (Su): At 5th level, a fiend of possession can use its possess object ability to take control of an "object" more loosely defined: a pool of water, a cloud of dust, or a section of wall or floor. At this level, a fiend of possession can also possess (and animate) Colossal objects.

I think "The Lost Ships" has an adventure or encounter along these lines in it.

I'd figure you'd have something like the Batship going, the Fiend could basically replace the crew. If the ship had a Series Helm attached, I'd think the fiend could run it odf spell-like abilities while possessing the ship.

So the question really appears to be, can the FoP power and control the ship at the same time?

I am going to have to work on that new Helm... :)
