[Mystara Database] Monster Locations

Post by Thorf » Mon Jul 07, 2008 6:40 am

Looking through Hugin's database, it strikes me that this is going to have to be pretty detailed in order to cover the whole range of possible locations monsters can appear in.

It also occurs to me that we may want to add another field to the mdb_monster_atlas table describing the role of the monsters in that location. (This is probably the same as the "organisation" field Herve proposed.)

Things like mountain ranges, forests, settlements, regions and countries are all covered in the location database already, of course. But certain very specific places, as well as things like "anywhere", will need to be thought about.

I hope you can make heads-and-tails of it. ;)

All I can say is I'm glad we have people creating this database that actually know what they're doing, instead of people like, oh, say... me!

On reflection, the locations table should be more than powerful enough to handle this. And "anywhere" is a frequency - just choose the overall region from the locations field, then "anywhere" on the frequency table. :)
