[Outer World] Mystara Faded Map

Post by Argentmantle »

Hello all,
Been a long time, but I was working on a new campaign for the fall and was putting together a new map.

See below. I just started working on the terrain features, so I'll reshape the forests and the like as it moves forward.

Wow, that is really neat!

Goes a long way at convincing me about the whole Sea west of Brun theory too...

I know, and it is a HUGE sea at that! it's just so EMPTY. I would have added a continent or the like, but I'm a Mystara purist (whatever that means). Plus, we have so many cultures stuffed in the Hollow World that coming up with a historical type culture is fairly hard.

And just because it's empty doesn't mean it empty, them murky deeps are chock full of aberrant, animal and humanoid aquatic folk. There's got to be a sprawling Aboleth empire down there as well as a vast merfolk culture.

Exactly, I might toss a few small islands on there or the like to break up the huge expanse. At least something for resupplying ships...

Photoshop, I started with one of the lovely line drawings off of the VoP and went from there. I added a few layers with elevations and the like.

I'm working on a few pieces for my upcoming Mystara campaign and wanted a different style for the maps than the awesome hex maps that Thorf cleaned up and put together. (I use those for me, not so much for the handouts).

I'll put a few more up here as they get finished. This is still in the WiP mode while I clean up some layers and add features. I'm probably going to try to do something way too ambitious with it but it is a nice creative project to keep my mind immersed while I work on campaign prep.

This is wonderful! Lovely artwork, and great proportions — I'm very happy to see more support for the massive Far End Ocean solution.
