Awesome! Thanks, John - it's perfect! That it 100% what I was looking for.

I just posted a preview of the current version of the intro video here. If you download the video you can see the postwork I'm doing on the maps and how I'm using them.

Thanks again! That helps tremendously!

Excellent map Chimpman!

Now, if only we could get an extended map of the region to cover the other locations on the northern coast as well, that would be cool..... ;)

Do we have any official sources? If so we could start listing them here.

I'll echo what everyone else has said - awesome job!!!

As far as official sources for the rest of Davania are concerned, the answer to that would be "not much". AFAIK the only hex maps covering even a slice of Davania ever made were:

1. The map of the Sea of Dread in the PWA (AC 1011), scaled at 72 miles per hex, which I used as a starting point for my own continental map of Davania, as well as the basis for 24-mile hex map which you just beautified. I don't know if Thorf made a copy of that one, but if you look at my map of the Adakkian Sound region, you'll see it, as the whole northern coast was copied from that map. Failing that, we'll need to scan it.

2. The map of the Serpent Peninsula (copy by Thorf) from CoM, which was scaled at 24 miles per hex. This one has the immediate region around Kastelios and Garganin.

If we were to combine the info from map #2 with the map John has just done, you'll find that were only looking at about 4 72 mile hexes' worth of space to render as 24-mile hexes. If we do that, we could bridge the intervening territory and have a 24-mile hex map of the northernmost coast of Davania from Kastelios to Raven Scarp.

To show what I'm talking about, I've cropped an old map. The areas outlined in blue are "all" that needs to be rendered into 24-mile hexes in order to have that whole region mapped out in more detail.

Image

My map of the Kastelian region in 8-mile hexes might be useful, too:

Excellent stuff! Doesn't the Josuan Almanac have a map of this part of Davania, inside the book somewhere? I seem to recall seeing something covering the land all the way down to the Meghala Kimata plains, including the location of Emerond...

I think I looked through that one last night, and I didn't see anything (but it was a quick skim, so I might have missed something).

The map you're talking about was the first one I cited - the PWA for AC 1011, in 72-mile hexes. AFAIK, Joshuan's doesn't really have any hex maps. I searched Thorf's map collection again, and I think my earlier guess was right - this was one of the few hex maps he hadn't replicated yet.

Thanks, John. I actually grabbed the first version which worked perfectly for the video background.

As far as the extra stuff, as a fan of Mystara, I'm glad you did it; it gives it a more "official" appearance. The final version looks awesome, BTW.

A most excellent map! When we played Paizo's Savage Tide campaign, I placed the city of Sasserine six hexes north of Glaugnor on the river delta on the coast. Fun times. I'll probably print this and use it for the next session. We plan to play that game on New Year's Eve.

Thanks again everyone! I'm really happy that the map turned out well enough to get people excited enough to use it!

Thinking more about an expanded map of Northern Davania, I took the maps Seer listed above and did a compilation.

This looks really interesting Chimpman! Does the map you suggest extend far enough to the east to include the Katapec, or is that better fit for a separate map?

Amazing!

I would say Katapec should go on a separate map, but eventually it would be nice to see one big honking map.

Yeah, I'd agree with Geoff. The above map is larger than it needs to be simply because I wanted to include the tip of the Serpent Peninsula for reference. It just helped for putting all the pieces together.

Works for me :)

The most important thing is that we get Gargona and Kastelios included.

If you have the time, it would also be cool to get a non-canonical version of the map with suggested locations for Sasserine and Cauldron added.

I never added Cauldron IMC because it wouldn't fit very well without adding a low mountain range in this region but it could be placed three hexes north of Glauqnor in the jungle with hills hex and would probably still work.
