Castle Blackmoor in Masters of the Universe

Post by Zeromaru X » Fri Apr 26, 2019 7:42 pm

I had the opportunity to read the second volume of "He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: A Character Guide and World Compendium", and found info about a place called Castle Blackmoor, that appeared in one of She-Ra's episodes.

Here is a link to the He-Man wiki about the place:

I wonder if is some kind of homage to D&D (She-Ra is from 1985, for the record).

Season two has She-Ra and the Princesses digressing into a very typical tabletop moment, where they argue over rules and everyone tries to be a badass. Adora is behind a screen, running the whole thing, and they have minis and a battle mat. Honestly, it's hilarious. And Bow's rendition of the team may be the best one

Nice find Zeromaru!

Masters of the Universe is interesting because it plays with some of the same tropes as Blackmoor does. Combining advanced technology and weapons with what is essentially a fantasy settinng....

Name Blackmoor
Location Etheria
Affiliation Great Rebellion

Blackmoor is a location from the 1985 animated series She-Ra: Princess of Power.

She-Ra: Princess of Power
Castle Blackmoor was the site where the annual Rebel's Fair was held to celebrate the start of the Great Rebellion. Queen Angella was one of the guests of honor. But being outside of the protection of Castle Bright Moon, Hordak saw his chance to kidnap Angella and crush the Rebellion.

The shortest way from to get to Blackmoor was by travelling through a dark swamp.

Trivia
All the backgrounds for the village of Blackmoor will be seen again as the village of Bluestone in The Prisoners of Beast Island and as Valley View Castle in The Time Transformer.

Appearances
The Red Knight
The details about Blackmoor being located near a dark swamp and being home to a rebellion are all coincidences...right? ;)

Well... I wouldn't expect a place called Blackmoor in the middle of a desert...

The Blackmoor in the world of the Elder Scrolls is in the middle of a tundra...
