[Video Game] Chronicles of Mystara

Weird red metals, dominions, immortals, hollow planets, invisible moons, and a lot of glorified magic zeppelins. It's all here.

Nice!

I will have to pick up a copy myself.

The second one has the conclusion to the night dragon Synn's Glantri plot.

This is fantastic news! Not only are they re-launching these two very cool games, but they are using the name MYSTARA to promote it? The name Chronicles of Mystara was never used in connection with these games before as far as I can remember?

The second game was pretty clear on the name of the game world so it is good to see that carry over.

The name being used for the game is a big deal, IMO. It makes me hopeful for the future of the world as a campaign setting. I'm not expecting it to be the first campaign to come out after the Forgotten Realms is released for 5E, but if the CRPG sells well enough, perhaps WotC will release something for 5E at some point.

The Mystara Arcade Games were apparently incredibly popular. Something I would love to see would be a comic book adaptation of the games...

Also, it would be cool if they made a third game in the series, inspired by the Poor Wizards Almanacs...? :geek:

The arcade at my university had Tower of Doom for ages. Great fun, and I'll probably get the PC version.

I'm setting up a reminder in my phone so I pick this up in June. My family loves games like this (or Marvel Ultimate Alliance) where we can all play onscreen together.

Chronicles of Mystara

Post by Saunatonttu » Sun Apr 14, 2013 8:35 pm

Whoa... (sorry if there is a topic about this already, but on a quick scan I didn't see anything) but, like... whoa:

http://www.wizards.com/dnd/Article.aspx ... s/20130322

They are putting out a remake of the two D&D arcade games welded together, with some additional stuff and... ONLINE MULTIPLAYER *runs circles*

Not to mention, how awesomely cool it is to see Mystara get its name back into the limelight.

The PC version is out now on Steam, and people are playing it. The online multiplayer seems to work like the Left 4 Dead series where you can drop into a game with strangers or arrange a game with friends.

I still have the arcade originals on my MAME cabinet, so I doubt I'll spring for the PC version any time soon - but my wife has announced that we'll get this on the Wii U when that version comes out so we can play it on the big screen TV.
Check out Gurbintroll Games for my free RPGs (including Dark Dungeons and FASERIP)!

Just downloaded the demo on the PS3; the graphics are really crappy; badly washed out colours, and smeared sprites. I am glad I didn't pay to get the full game :(
