Mystara 5th Edition Player's Handbook

Post by TheGlen » Thu Aug 13, 2015 4:04 am

Went on a mad binge and in about 3 days I converted Mystara's Gazeteers to 5th edition. Included are shadow elves, lupin, rakasta, sidhe, tortles, mercantile aurumancers, Thyatian rakes, Ethengar horse warriors, Disciples of the Rad, Norse rune, weapon mastery, secret crafts of Glantri and more than I can say. It's 84 pages so far, full color with a printer friendly version. In need of some proofreading and playtesting. Spread the tapes my friends.

Thanks for your work!
I skimmed through it and it seems good.

And now I want to build a Tortle monk character, named Mickey...

Regarding Tortles, I think the hardness of the shell should progress with character level and not be based on the strength of the character.
In this way player won't feel like they need to put a high score in strength, if they want to put it elsewhere; this feeling will be even worse if the group is rolling randomly instead of using fixed or point-buy systems.
Just my 2 cents. ;)

Have them level up was the first thought, but the strength requirements are based on the minimum strength to wear the armor. It was a balance issue more than anything, fluffwise the tortle has to be strong enough to support his shell. I maybe could give the PB as an AC bonus and set the natural AC just a little higher.

If anybody would like to help defer the artist costs, look here. http://www.gofundme.com/Mystara. Want to keep the art the same style and also get art for the races and classes that never got anything worth while. Every $20 we raise we get a new piece for the Handbook. Everything will be distributed as its created and the 5e conversion will be constantly updated.

YES ABSOLUTELY. My knowledge of layout is fair, but if somebody else is better and willing to move stuff around I will be more than willing to hand over that aspect. What do you need from me?

Try this link. When I update it has a bad habit of killing the older link.

The final version is up, aside from proofreading and replacing art. It is a thing of beauty, I won't lie.

Both links offered in this thread appear to be broken now. Is this still available anywhere? Pandius perhaps?

I'm sure its on my HD somwhere, but its complete chaos over here :D

That's v27. The last version looks like it's going to be v70. You won't even recognize the final version it's so crammed with Mystara goodies. About to do a bunch of interviews about it soon because WOTC is getting into a retro groove again. Thank the Hickmans for that though.

WOW! I don't know how I missed this for the past 3... no! 4 years! I've only just downloaded the pdf (linked above) and v.27 or not, the first few pages alone look fantastic!

How are you getting this by WotC copyrights? Is this a DM's Guild product, or something you've worked out with WotC?
A big THANKS! to Giant Space Hamster & Chimpman for the cookies! (Dark Side be damned!) :D
