The Voyage of the Discovery

Weird red metals, dominions, immortals, hollow planets, invisible moons, and a lot of glorified magic zeppelins. It's all here.

The Voyage of the Discovery

Postby Robin » Mon Apr 25, 2016 1:45 pm

The Story of the research travels of Proffessor Vander Klil, Salechaam, Straddle, Separim, and the dog Row in the wonderful World of Mystara continues.
What wonders will they meet. What dangers will they confront. What knowledge will they discover.

Much more will follow, Even though my RL does still not fare very well, I continue with my work as agreed upon.

The 2nd chapter reveals day 2 and 3 of the voyage.
Through Callair the Discovery goes.

the following 1 mile hex maps are accompanying the story. And I will supply them here too for you.
Thus far they are sections of the large Alfheim map, but soon new sections will be given.

Yes the 1 mile maps are working fine.
Here the one of the post today.

Today some history illustrated...before they venture in the region rhemselves.
INLASHAR.

16-05-2016 This map I had to update to incorporate Geoff Gander's Barrowfields map.

The next chapter of our investigative crew. Deeper into Inlashar (Darokin) we go.
A ruined city is discovered,
a new handy magical item used,
and some information how to handle Draining by undead.
A nasty and painful weakening condition mostly brought forth by Undead, which can be restored if knowing how.

Today the first chapter of an intermediary .
Professor Vander Klil reviews a lesson brought By Mergrath the Earth Elenentalist (called Dwarven Druid).
The Topic?
The Geomorfological history of the Broken Lands.

With great use of the maps of John Calvin, Sturm. Together with geological knowledge, sociocultural patterns found in the Gazetteers, I derived How the Broken Lands formed over the centuries.
There are too many maps created and used in this to post here, I have placed these in my Deviantart, in a seperate folder http://6inchnails.deviantart.com/gallery/58856316/D-D-Mystara-Broken-Lands, so without further ado, here the first chapter.

Enjoy

Real Life is a bitch.

Yet I succeeded in the next chapter of the Geomophological History of the Broken Lands.

Again without the sources of John Calvin, Sturn and Thorfinn Tait.I could not have finished this.Together with geological knowledge, sociocultural patterns found in the Gazetteers, I derived How the Broken Lands formed over the centuries.
All maps can be found in thehttp://6inchnails.deviantart.com/gallery/58856316/D-D-Mystara-Broken-Lands folder.

So take a moment and enjoy Living Mystara's history.

Enjoy

Of course will Professor Vander Klil continue with his Voyage of the Discovery...soon more chapters.

Could some of this story be an eventual addition to Threshold?

Hmm. Maybe...But not the Geomorphology I think.
The later sections (which I'm working on right now, amongst others) maybe better.
That relates better to the Secret of the Streel River.
As this is also the Prime Target of the Discovery Crew to discover (and they will  )
However, as I post it on my Blog, isn't that a waste of Threshold space?? ...if it would also be placed in threshold? :o
Don't understand me wrong, ..I like the idea, but I don't intend to skoop pages, while I do the same on my blog, with my own and other illustrations.
Maybe The Discovery Crew could relate side treck discoveries, :? and post that, however, as I conjure these up from random pictures on the internet, mixing that with D&D mystara canon/fanon notes, it might be better if I keep it on my blog, as due the copyright restrictions Threshold uses (and I don't on my blog). :|
I am somewhat in doubt about this, die all of this. especially as these illustrations are often the base of my writings.

Whatever I/We will do with this, The Voyage off the Discovery will absolutely continue...and many strange finds will come forth.
Some which will give rammification as it changes the (sometimes flawed) perspective Mystara folk (real and there) will have.
to begin with the Secret of the Streel.

Never Robin. I mean we "republish" and update alot of material from Vaults. It also might be a good teaser, getting people who are interested in the piece to further explore your website! Perhaps bringing some fresh exposure to Mystara fans who are unfamiliar with your vast body of work on Mystara.

BTW...Is everything on Breath of Mystara on Vaults? Or is there more of your material on your own site?

@ Julius Responded By PM.

to others interested, most of my stuff is still on my PC, in my head or on paper, and need a lot of work to "publish".
As of yet I am unsure when and how anything of that will be published.
we'll see.
I need a lot of reflection/help where possible (1 mile hex mapping for example), so please do.

Which I believes includes a 1mile hex map of some kind...

Any help is welcome, even those for the Great Pass(which I stopped due the feeling I got nobody was interested in it anymore), but if you (or anyone else btw ;) ) have opinions/additions/ideas for the Broken Lands..tell them.. as this I work on now.
