Tell me about the Yalu River

Weird red metals, dominions, immortals, hollow planets, invisible moons, and a lot of glorified magic zeppelins. It's all here.

Tell me about the Yalu River

Post by Knightfall » Wed Apr 18, 2018 10:36 pm

I'm interested in finding what canon exists for the Yalu River. I've seen some of the fanon material regarding that river over on The Vaults, but I'm looking for specific canon-only material about the river, its history, and the canonical lands that exist along it. What prompted this query is this article on The Vaults by Simone Neri. (And this one too.)

Is the Yalu River supposed to be a Mystara version of the Yellow River? Or some other East Asian river? And if so, what canonical material exists about any pseudo-Chinese cultures that exist on Mystara?

What else do we know about this Cropland? Is it supposed to be Chinese-like, maybe?

FYI, I tried typing "Cropland of Yalu" into Google Translate set to Chinese Traditional and got this: Yālǜjiāng nóngtián (鴨綠江農田).

There is almost nothing canon on the region, you can find something in the Savage Coast Campaign Book http://pandius.com/svge_cst.html, module X9 and Tortles of the Purple Sage Dungeon adventure, but is pretty much all been summarized by Carillion in his Great Northway Lands article in Threshold issue #18 http://pandius.com/thrs_mag.html. Canon and fanon was also summarized in Threshold issue #17.
Also Central Brun by LoZompatore http://pandius.com/centbrun.html summarizes all the available canon on Western Brun, even the most obscure bits.

Excellent. Thanks for the links. I'm going to start with LoZompatore's summary and then read the Threshold article.
