Issue 23 - Campaigns and Adventures
A second issue focused on adventures, campaigns, and other materials directly useful for your Mystaran games.

Image

Proposal Deadline: March 21th, 2019
Manuscript Deadline: April 21st, 2019
Issue Published: by June 21st, 2019

As we are finalizing production of issue 22, Adventures and Campaigns, to be published in a few days, we had enough material for another issue dedicated to the same theme. Yet there is still space to be filled, so feel free to propose your article!

So if you have an idea for an article, campaign, adventure or else, write here or to the Threshold mail which is published on the last page of any issue.
The manuscript deadline is indicative but can be extended with the editor, so do not worry too much!

Anticipated contents include:
● “Warriors of the Eternal Sun” - the old video game becomes an adventure
● Escape from Hule, by Sea
● The many Mystaran sub-settings
● “Oeraphon’s War” - an expansion of “Wrath of the Immortals”
● The Barrel, a location
…and much much more!

I have an adventure that I've been working on called the Khan and The Duchess that's part Chase and part romantic comedy as the party has to stop an international incident between ethangar and karameikos

Working hard on digitizing all maps and written resources of the Barrel.
Have to retype everything....nobody can read my handwriting(including me sometimes  :? ...I am as bad as a doctor (or worse  :o  )

I am setting my thoughts and work most on this now. (even reducing/delaying my time on the Ethengar map somewhat)
As my original area hexmap is lost :o (actually damage beyond repair due mice & moisture in the storage while I was homeless 7+ years ago), and only this one is available, I'll try to ASAP make a new section map in my standard 1 mile hexes detailing the region using the few shrapnells available. Then discard the mice litterbox.
It is actually a good thing working on this as it forced me to open this box, and check it out...there is nice stuff (damaged but reasonably clean) within the box...How to treat a D&D fire for example...and a complete fire- based adventure...(N)PC's will dislike this but players will love it due the constant tension and duress
Have to puzzle all together and then rewrite all however...So maybe for a later edition,.

Fade to Red
Fade to Red is the first chapter in an adventure path that takes place over the course of several issues of Threshold magazine or as individually released PDFs . It is designed for Dungeons and Dragons 5E rules but can be converted to other editions or systems with a little work by the gamemaster. This adventure is crafted for four player characters of 1st level, offering an exciting introduction to the lands of the Savage Coast. Those characters who survive this adventure and the ones afterward should progress to level 20 and some may even be taking the first steps on a path to Immortality.

The adventure can be scaled for larger groups or parties consisting of 2nd or perhaps even 3rd level adventurers. These groups should consume less resources in each encounter and be able to move through the adventure at a quicker pace. The appendix contains notes on converting this adventure for higher level play.

Great idea, surely we can fit it in the issue.
Please note articles should be submitted in doc or google docs, not in pdf as Threshold has its own layout. Obviously you can always gather all the series of articles in a pdf later with the layout you want as an additional file for the Vaults, where indeed Shawn also posts the html versions of Threshold article that I create after each issue.

Right on! I'll make sure to have it in a .doc or Google docs version.

Looks like it weighs in at about 40 pages content, about 8 pages of maps, 4 pages of handouts, and I can probably get 5-6 pieces of half-page art in there if we need to stretch for page count.

We are at an early stage for now so we can't tell yet what the page count will be, feel free to add any material you may find useful. Some art will not hurt anyway.

Communication which will also be soon sent to all authors in the mail:

As the original deadline for articles of issue #23 is approaching, just a reminder to all authors:
the issue should be published by end June or slightly later.
It would be better to receive final articles by early May if possible, even if some leeway is always accepted, in doc or google docs format. If you are late, please let us know and we will try to give you as much time as possible.
Consider however editing and proofreading should be completed by end May on all articles to give Allan enough time to work on final layout in June.
Please provide maps and images if you have them. Maps and images can be published in the issue only if drawn by yourself or if you have permission to use them, or if they come from clearly stated public domain (with appropriate link, such as wikimedia commons).
Please provide an Author Blurb if you have never sent one before to Threshold.
Thanks and best regards
Sturm and the Threshold Editorial Team

I Do my best to have everything finished beginning May.

The map is 99% ready (maybe a tweek here and there, yet nothing major)
and the accompanying text for a big part. It might be (as I used much of your source material) I need maybe some more detailed input on some locations.
So I send you a link by PM to view and give input if need be, or you wait till the proofreading, whatever suits best.

Warriorneedsfood makes some illustrations, he may take a bit longer I guess

Most articles received. Mail sent to proofreaders and authors as the proofreading phase has begun and soon some articles will be moved to layout for final publication.
We already have 300+ pages of material so it is well possible we will have to make a third installment of Adventures and Campaigns :)
