Fan Productions Overview

Weird red metals, dominions, immortals, hollow planets, invisible moons, and a lot of glorified magic zeppelins. It's all here.

Hello Karameikos! Welcome to the Piazza :)

Thank you! I'm actually an old MML'er from when it was on io.com under Leroy Van Camp III back in the mid 90's.

I think he is talking about the compilation from the 3E project by Gawain VII (Roger). AFAIK it has not yet been completed. Gawain is probably interested in people helping out though, Karameikos if you are interested? :)

Yes, I would. Though I'm also trying to do a rough re-formatting of Estlor Cestrium's Netbook of Mystara from way back.

Speaking of which, Estlor Cestrium's Netbook of Mystara was originally released (back in the mid to late 90's, shortly after the Player's Option/DM's Option series for AD&D 2nd Ed. came out) in both MS Word format and WordPerfect format. The WordPerfect version actually came out better formatted in nearly every word processor that I tried viewing it in. However, since then, I lost the WordPerfect version and I can't find it anywhere on the Internet today. Do you (or anyone else) have a copy of the original WordPerfect version? My current re-formatting project on that one is an attempt to make the MS Word version into something other than a disorganized glut of information without proper formatting. If I could get a copy of the WordPerfect version, I think it could probably stand without further conversion.

Also working on formatting an MS Word/PDF version of "The Mystaran Grimoire," which is a collection of a few hundred spells in a text file that I haven't ever seen put into a nice reformat. Anyone know of a well-formatted version of that book?

Thanks again!

Reason: BBCode fix - "Thank you! I'm actually an old MML'er from when it was on io.com under Leroy Van Camp III back in the mid 90's." was accidentally added into Havard's quote, before I fixed it

Since my web hosting with Apple goes kaput in four more days, I've moved the file over to Google Docs until I can find another web hosting solution.

I see that the Italian mystaran community here: http://www.gamesacademy.it/forum/MYSTAR ... m9448.aspx
made some translations of mystaran products with some nice covers (as Oceania and Hyborea)... maybe the main link at least should be listed in the fan production...

Also, agathokles' Lords of the Cruth Lowlands adventure viewtopic.php?f=3&t=8876&hilit=lords+of+the+cruth should be added too, I think.
Edit: BTW It seems that the links to agathokles's other adventures do not work anymore..

Yes, there was a bit of a problem in one of the BECMI groups on fb which led me to remove the adventures. I'll make them available on the Vaults as soon as possible (which might be less soon than I'd like).

 I think that's it for now, but hopefully (keep your fingers crossed) a few more in the very near future. I have several nearly completed projects that just need a little elbow grease before I release them.

The Threshold link should point to: http://www.pandius.com/thrs_mag.html
Otherwise you'll need to update the post with every new issue...

Also, the links to my adventures should be changed to:

http://pandius.com/nightterrors.zip

This is the first time I have included a document in italian to the list, but I don't see why we shouldnt include non-English sources here. Which other non-english pdfs are available? I was trying to find the italian Mystara Demographics book, but my google-fu was too weak... :(

Has anyone ever considered setting up a small English-to-Italian/Italian-to-English team to try to convert some of the Italian Mystara fanon to English (and English Mystara fanon to Italian)?

It seems to me that if you had people at both ends to liase with Italian fanon designers who do not speak English (and English fanon designers who do not speak Italian) you could then pass the work onto a team of people who speak both languages. Even if some of the people who speak both languages do not have perfect English (or perfect Italian) I think that could be balanced out by having some editors who are perfect in the destination language*.

* = What I am thinking is that if an odd looking phrase came up in English (or Italian), because of differences in how the languages are constructed, the editor sorting out the version in the destination language could communicate back to the original author to work out the spirit of what they wanted to say.

I only speak English, so wouldn't be able to help out with something like this, but it seems to me that if there were a few Mystara fans who had the skills to help bridge the gap between the Italian fanon designers and the English fans (and the English fanon designer and the Italian fans) that it could really start to unlock some Mystara fanon projects that people might not be able to read right now. :)

We've started such in the past, but never got too far, see here & here for the demography work.

The Demography work is soo old now (12 to 13 years!), with revised numbers coming out in Threshold articles, that I don't have as much interest, especially since no one else ever tried a section. I'm more interested now in the Ethnography stuff, and how that ties in.

A recent question by religion sent me here looking for some information of the fan based Specularum project that was started here years ago. There is a ton of info across multiple threads, but many of them have been inactive for quite a time. I thought it might be a good idea to compile them here. I'll start by adding a few, but I'm sure there are more out there. Hopefully we can get these moved to the first post:

Specularum/Mirros
Specularum - should we revise the poopulation size?
Geography of Specularum
[FC:Specularum] District heraldry and patrons
Some material for a "FantasyCities: Specularum" book
[FC:Specularum] Notable buildings by district
A Specularum city map
[FC: Specularum] St. Kruskiev's Gold: A mini adventure

Thanks for collecting that Chimpman. I was unknowingly familiar with AlanP's work, but some of the stuff from 2008 I had only seen in fragmentary glimpses.

It looks like this is necessary to understand LoZompatore's link 'A Specularum city map'...

We have been thinking about producing a "Specularum" issue of THRESHOLD, and I'm in the process of bringing alot of the informatiuon that came out of the "FC1: Specularum" thread into a format for the magazine...
