Fan Productions Overview

Weird red metals, dominions, immortals, hollow planets, invisible moons, and a lot of glorified magic zeppelins. It's all here.

Wow, there's something I haven't seen. The author, Marc-Antoine Guidault, sounds familiar somehow. More for the next Pandius update Shawn?

Well I can't just added things to the Vaults from people's websites without their permission, that would probably be a little rude.

There's already a link to Marc-Antoine's page in the links section, and he has some stuff on the Vaults which he had sent to the Mystara Mailing List.
Visit the Vaults of Pandius http://pandius.com, the official website for the Dungeons and Dragons setting of Mystara.

Yeah good point. I do get carried away with this don't I? Well at least with this list compiled people will see what's out there :)

Havard,

Kudos to you for seizing the bull by the horns and compiling this rapidly-growing collection! :D Now I have some comments/thoughts....

The Kingdom of Højgylden isn't an Alphatian dominion (according to the writeup it proclaimed independence around the time of the Ylari colonies, and Alphatia never tried to reconquer it), so we should probably move it somewhere else. I also thought I'd suggest adding my writeup on the Dark Shire, largely because there is a map as well as geographic writeup and town descriptions. If you don't think it fits, that's fine, too. I know where to find you.

Thanks for the feedback Geoff! I added the Dark Shire and moved Højgylden to a more approproiate section. Let me know if there's more! :)

Have you guys emailed the original writers of some of the sites to see if they'd like to contribute more and have links to their sites? I'd think that they'd be interested. I know when someone links my works or comments its a big buffing to my ego.

Also, if someone has ideas to break up the "other gazetteers" category into smaller categories, I'm all ears.
The importance of categories is to help the end user find related material. In our context there are two main alternatives: Location (pretty much as they are now at the Vaults) and continuity groups. Some of the products were essentially one-off works, so they can only be reasonable placed in a location grouping or put into a generic bin, but a lot of them were built around each other: The Alphatian gaz's and HWR series, Hule+Zuyevo+Yezmech(?); GP's Ochalea+Myoshima (possibly + Zendrolion's Caerdania and Giulio's Wyrmsteeth), Mishler's work, etc.

I would recommend using the latter grouping, where possible, and form useful clusterings with the rest. So

Ochaela Gazetteer by Giampaolo Agosta

Rejoice, then, as I've started the process of re-editing the almanacs, starting with the very first one, AC 1014, which is well underway now. :!:
So they will at some point all be available, in a new edition, pdf'ed, with covers and everything. And not split*.

* This was necessary at the time, when we had low bandwith (with 56K or less modems), limited online storage (free storage was limited to 1MB files, and few of them), and other prehistoric preoccupations that we fortunately have now shed. So, when I get to them, no more split** files. :ugeek:
** This was done with Unix's split command, and can be merged back with Unix's cat command or Windows's DOS's copy /b command. Remains somewhat technical though. Fortunately nowadays a few MB's download isn't as unpredictable as it was then. :ugeek:

Don't forget all the other things we had to do in the old days, like drawing and colouring hex maps by hand (by hand, I tell you!!), scanning it, then converting into all sorts of image formats that probably don't exist anymore, and then editing it yet again in another programme, saving it, and then uploading the damned thing, hoping that you wouldn't blow your bandwidth allowance.

And don't get me started about those old coal-fired computers! You had to fill that blasted hopper right to the brim to get only an hour or so of juice, and then you needed an extra guy to stoke the furnace while you typed away frantically, while keeping an eye on the pressure gauge. Rad help you if you redlined it.....

Blood, smoke, sweat, and tears - that's what built the Vaults.

Bah, you youngsters don't know how good you've got it! :P

He is an NPC, not a country.

But after all this time doesn't Bargle deserve his own sourcebook?

Heck for all he is blamed for, you could use an almanac to keep track of him.

Apparently, the infamous wizard beat us to it, as he published his own autobiography :D :

Bringing Out the Wizard in You: A Twelve Step Program ("A masterpiece!" raved Otkel Shadowchaser of the _Alphatian Book Review): _ This 196-page book is part autobiography, part practical guide for working-class people trying to balance the day-to-day struggle of survival with magical studies. Using his own life-experiences as examples, Bargle provides an excellent series of stepping stones for the dedicated and talented peasant who's really a mage at heart.

I've added GP's Torreon Gazetteer and Jennifer's Darine writeup.

Also,
the Continuities discussion has been moved into a separate thread by the request of those participants.

Due to a busy schedule, there wont be any more updates in the Original Post untill late next week, but keep those suggestions coming :)

Hi Havard Great list! Thanks for compling it. If you are going to include the Wyrmsteeth material you shold also include the following:

Part 3 and Part 4 as I believe that they were always intended to be part of the complete work.
Visit the Exiles Campaign Setting (a Mystara / Spelljammer crossover)
Visit Mystara 2300 BC

The list is really coming along. Good work! :D

By the way you forgot to mention the authors for the fan HWRs.

Also, how about creating a locked sticky at the top of this page for storing useful lists of links like this? We already have a Useful Links sticky, but it's not very organised right now. I would suggest starting a new thread and locking it to keep us from chattering in it. The first post would be general links to other web pages, and the succeeding posts can contain lists like this one of specific resources.

Fixed. I changed the HWR listing to fit with the overall formatting as well. This is something I meant to do way back, but I am lazy :)

Good idea. Links to official material, fan maps etc would be useful to include in such a thread.

I just remember, this list is missing the adventures GP (and maybe others) have written. Maybe someone can help me with URLs?

Let me know if there is anything else that should be added to the list.

River of Blood

I'm currently writing an adventure set in Vandevicsny, to go between the Tomb of Thob Shanwood and River of Blood.
