My Large 8mph map

Weird red metals, dominions, immortals, hollow planets, invisible moons, and a lot of glorified magic zeppelins. It's all here.

My Large 8mph map

Postby multizar » Tue Jul 15, 2008 2:40 pm

Ok I printed it out and placed it on my kitchen wall (much to the dismay of my girlfriend  ) I took a large shot then focused on areas. I also took one shot with me in it so you can see just how big it really is :D

ARGH! I can't see them. The image server is blocked from work, and my home connection is out for the moment... oh well, I'll just have to wait :(

Now *that* is beautiful! I'm sure everyone would like to see an update once the next batch of maps (Leeha and Alpha) are released, then we'll be able to go from Hattias all the way up to Kaarjala!

Yeah, but I think we may need the Great Wall of China to display all of it. :)

Nice map. However, you're missing the whole southwestern area of Brun, namely the Hule/Robrenn/etc. areas. Oh, and YOU STOLE MY IDEA! =P

The area is not missing...it has not been mapped out by Thorf or OldDawg. Thorf's maps are what I like to call "fan official ;) " and OldDawgs are all from the GAZF series. I also have Thorf's maps from the Savage Coast printed out but there is no (currently...hint, hint :D ) map of the Great Waste in 8mph. I also wish Thorf would do one on the Wildlands northwest of Glantri. That would help make my map more square.

Umm, actually, it has, by Thorf. Otherwise, the rather large bitmap I have stretching from Hule all the way across the coast to the Arm of the Immortals was doine by some other Thorf. =D

I also have Thorf's maps from the Savage Coast printed out but there is no (currently...hint, hint ) map of the Great Waste in 8mph.

Considering this is the only piece of the map missing to join the two, F*** YES DO IT. I would do it, but I have not the time, skill, or programs with which to do so.

I also wish Thorf would do one on the Wildlands northwest of Glantri. That would help make my map more square.

Agreed. On the HUGE 24mph map, there's quite a bit where the "Empire of Dorfin IV" is/was that hasn't really been touched by anything lower that said 24mph map.

...BTW, how many pieces of paper did it take to print that all out?

It took somewhere between 60 and 70 pages and about 40 dollars worth of ink  Lucky for me I get a discount at work

Oh mine has already told me that the map cannot stay on the wall. We are buying a house later this year and I told her all maps will go up in the garage. For some reason she seems to think that art on the wall held up by scotch tape is tacky

When you are shopping for that house look for one with a cathedral ceiling in the garage, you might be able to get all of Brun on one wall! :D

That's wonderful!! :D

I only wish I had a wall to put maps up on... Unfortunately our current flat has almost no free walls for that sort of thing - either there are windows or big fusuma (sliding hard paper doors) in the way. And the one or two walls that are free have bookcases in front of them... :(

Ah well, one day... ;)

Actually what I want to ask is what kind of printer you used to print them out. The colours look great!

You're making me feel guilty though for continually tweaking them and finding new mistakes to correct. :? Whereas it's easy to overwrite a file, your maps are slightly harder to update! ;)

Edit: Sorry I made a mistake, it should have been fusuma, not fusama.

It is an HP Inkjet printer. I know that it has 4 inks in it...black...blue...yellow..and red. I set it on best quality. I buy the inks wholesale at work but for a full set its still 75 dollars (american). As for tweaking the maps...don't worry about it. I like to make the physical maps. Cutting the paper around the hexes in Wendar and Ethengar is actually fun for me. One day when you have a complete map I will probably fork over the cash to create a new one. I will probably do that one at 50% instead of 60%. Can you imagine how big one would be at 100%?
