[Thorn's Chronicle Crunch]: Play-by-post interest?

Weird red metals, dominions, immortals, hollow planets, invisible moons, and a lot of glorified magic zeppelins. It's all here.

I am actually glad you do it like this - first, because it's so removed from the LFC that it won't conflict with my own stuff. And second, because it gives me some sense of closure.
My campaign ends with Blackmoor ("The Reunited Kingdom") entering what you might call the time of "Blackmoor Ascendant". Your campaign picks up at the other end.

Alpha and Omega. Awesome, for me personally, and for the community in general. :)

As a side note, I've been considering doing something similar to this, but I've never used Alternity before and am only passingly familiar with its mechanics (although, from what I know/have seen, they are not too far removed from d20).

How well does the system handle cross-genre gaming? In the vein of several scenarios here, for example, a Blackmoor technology-fantasy hodgepodge?

Alternity has several "bolted on" systems in place to handle fantasy elements. The Beyond Science Guide to FX allows for several different flavors of magic, from diabolism to illusion to druidism to vodoo. That same book has guidelines for super-science gizmos and super-power type skills. My own method for dealing with arcane magic involves reskinning the system's computers-and-programs rule subset as spellbook-and-spells.

The core mechanic is really robust, and should handle fantasy elements right alongside the sci-fi with very few problems. The system already has stats in place for everything from sticks and rocks up to plasma missiles and spaceships :D

Those of you interested in beginning a play by post set during the Last Days of Blackmoor -- or those hemming and hawing over whether or not to dive in might want to see if some "what everybody knows" info might just change your mind...

Seating is limited. Some restrictions may apply. May contain nuts. Always check with your doctor before beginning a strenuous exercise routine. Game experience may change during online play. Offer void where prohibited. Pastry may be hot when heated. Never leave children and rabid tasmanian devils unattended. Call your doctor if inflammation or rash persists for more than four days.

It seems there is some interest.

The Prologue has gone up, at the Comeback Inn. One seat remaining, and about a week to go before it all begins.

I'm interested and not choosy about the setting!
Practically, how do you propose to play by post?

The game is going to be staged at the Comeback Inn forums. I will be using TSR/WotC's Alternity rules. A strong background in the Thorn's Chronicle mythology is highly recommended.

Thanks a lot Chimpman, now you've got me doing game development! :D

Anybody interested in developing a quasi-chess game in their spare time?

So it would seem I have an opening, over at the Comeback Inn, if anyone is brave enough to dive into a game-in-progress with a fanatical posting rate.

Still using the Alternity ruleset, though so far, most of the mechanics have been pretty transparent.

If you are interested, drop me a PM here, or over at the Comeback Inn forums (same username)

Did I mention that there is still an opening available?

There is.

Act 2 will begin towards the end of May, beginning of June, depending on the other players' schedules.

... okay, so it looks like closer to beginning of July for [url=http://thornschronicle.blogspot.com/201 ... nting.html[/url] of The Throne of Stars.

July 5th, as a matter of fact. The Trigger goes live around 2 p.m. Central Daylight Time, over at the Comeback Inn forums.

Seats still available, unless Rafe and/or the Baron steals theirs back ;)
