What Feats have you tweaked?

Post by Havard » Thu Aug 02, 2018 2:36 pm

I recall the toughness and dodge feats being heavily discussed as possible changes in our group.

Have you changed any feats in your campaigns? Are there any you consider broken?

I have a problem with the fact that Expertise is limited to -5 BAB, and you need a second feat to exceed that, while Power Attack lacks such restrictions. I also think that Power Attack's "double extra damage with a 2H weapon" clause ought to be a separate feat.

I always thought it weird that Toughness was just a single +3 to hp per "purchase." I can't recall anyone ever taking it more than once. I definitely preferred the Pathfinder method (+3 plus 1 per Hit Die) and used something similar even before PF.

Taking multiple instances of Toughness is basically just a "if you have no idea what feats you want" option. It can't ever be a bad idea, it's just usually not your best option...but we all get sick of shopping lists sometimes.

Yeah, it was useful at 1st level for those on low HD but after that it was pretty pointless.

I was slightly disappointed that the Ghost Feats were set up for Ghostwalk.

In Ghostwalk PCs can die and turn into a ghost and come back to life and die and turn into a ghost and come back to life throughout the campaing.

However the Ghost Feats in the Eidolon and Eidoloncer Classes have no effect during the times that a PC is alive. They only work for ghosts.

PCs can exchange levels of Eidolon and Eidoloncer with levels of other classes (if they choose to have a "life epiphany" if raised or resurrected), but I didn't see anything suggested for Ghost Feats.

I wouldn't say it was "broken", but I think I would like to see these abilities do something other than just go dormant until the next time the PC dies.

Perhaps some of them could work if a PC separates from their mind from their body, for Astral Travelling or somesuch. Or perhaps some of them could provide a protective bonus against the same Ghost Feat, whenever a PC is alive.

It does seem questionable that you're expected to invest feat slots in something that will stop working when you're rezzed. You can convert them into normal feats, but then you don't have them after you die again. There's probably a better way to do it.
