Estlor's Lighthouse Site Preserved at the Internet Archive

Post by Havard » Sat Jan 23, 2016 5:59 pm

Estlor had a bunch of cool stuff related to Mystara 3E at his website over at geocities, including the Rise of the Immortals PDF booklet detailing the Immortals under the 3E system. Fortunately it has been preserved here:

I have emailed Shawn to see if the files can be preserved at Pandius as well, if they are not already there.

Back when Geocities was going to disappear I made copies of websites on my own computer. I still have them here. At that time I recall posting in forums the offer to people to host their pages on the Vaults instead, as is, as part of what I was calling the Geocities Relocation Project. Only two people took me up on the offer - The Boldavian Prince, http://pandius.com/morphail/index.html, by Ohad Shaham and the Mystara's Map Navigator, http://pandius.com/navigator/index.htm, by Ricardo Matheus.

At that time I wanted the okay of people to put their pages onto the Vaults. In addition to that there is also a bit of work which needs to be done on pages to get them up, it's not quite as simple as dumping things back onto the Vaults.

However, if there is a call for it then I can look into it.

It is best to get permission, but given that some people have dead email addresses, it would be a shame for a website to vanish.

It would be great if this website could be saved.

I don't think that the content could be incorporated into the Mystara 3e Conversion Project, without the permission of Estlor, but perhaps - if people want to restart this project - people could either focus on the stuff that Estlor had not yet converted or refer to Estlor's work, along with the work of other 3e conversion fans, while working on their own conversions.

The site is also on reocities here http://www.reocities.com/TimesSquare/6011/.

The links site on the Vaults links to the reocities and oocities pages for any rescued pages. Of course, yes, there are some geocities page which weren't saved there ... or at least not last time I looked.
