[Aquela] A waterworld with a vast oceanographic biology

Post by Angel Tarragon » Wed Nov 07, 2018 4:54 am

I remember this setting from back when I was in community college in 1996-1997. I can't remember every single detail (I don't have a photographic memory), but from what I do I loved the setting based on the premise that it was a mostly a waterworld. Of some of the details I do remember, which I think have been lost as the new Aquela site is slim pickings, is that it it was a hothouse of oceanographic biological creatures. This is why I fell in love with the setting.

For the little that we do have on the messageboard can be expanded and extrapolated with Cerulean Seas, which was written for Pathfinder but there is enough fluff with the setting book and its supplements to convert and create for mostly any system.

From what I understand, the only material available to the public in the late 90s was the adventure in Dragon #66. Is that what you remember playing Angel, or have I overlooked anything?

Your descriptions of the setting makes me think of the RPG called Blue Planet, except fantasy rather than science fiction.

I only found out about Blue Planet about three to four years ago. I'm pretty darn sure that the Aquela setting was in its infancy online in 1997...I do remember seeing it that year.

Oh, I wasn't suggesting these two were in any way related. They just have concepts that are similar enough that fans of one might enjoy the other. :)
