The Star of Kolhapur thread made me think about running games in a fantasy world inspired by India. Perhaps even India of Gothic Earth/Laterre.

LIST OF USEFUL RESOURCES
AD&D Dragon Magazine
  • "Rhino's Armor, Tiger's Claws" in issue #189
  • "Caste of Characters" in issue #225,
  • "Monsoons and the Power of Om" in #226
  • "The Magic of India" in #229.
D20/D&D3E Classic D&D/ Mystara
  • B7 Rahasia
  • Champions of Mystara (Sind entry)
  • HWA3 - Nightstorm (Shajapur Gazetteer)
OSR Settings Other RPGS
  • Against the Dark Yogi
  • Fighting Fantasy has an Arabian Nights India inspired setting (See further down in this thread.
What else is available for this setting?

Here http://fightingfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/F ... _Rimon.pdf you can find a setting that is similar to Arabian Nights India, so you may find a generic idea or two, but it is not for D&D.

Arrows of Indra is an OSR game that has a default setting based on Indian myth.

Against the Dark Yogi is another game based on Indian myth. It isn't a d20-based system, so if you're trying to use it in D&D, it's going to take some additional work for conversion.

Legends & Lore has a section about India.

I wrote a Piazza topic about Arrows of Indra about a year ago, but got no replies. You might find the links in my topic useful.

I've never heard of Against the Dark Yogi. I might have to check that out. :)

All AD&D, as far as I know. There's "Rhino's Armor, Tiger's Claws" in issue #189, "Caste of Characters" in issue #225, "Monsoons and the Power of Om" in #226, and "The Magic of India" in #229.

There's also Sahasra, The Land of 1,000 Cities and its three supplements.

Cheers

Complete Guide to Rakshasas from Goodman Games is worth looking at for Indian-themed campaigns, as well as The Mahasarpa Campaign.

The Pathfinder Bestiary 3 has a number of India-inspired monsters, particularly the asuras, nagas, and rakshasas.

Parsantium includes a quarter based on Indian culture.
