Wow! It's the original Empire of the Petal Throne!:

From M.A.R Barker's World of Tekumel
  • Watermarked PDF $14.00 $8.95
  • Softcover B&W Book $19.95
  • Hardcover B&W Book $24.95
  • Watermarked PDF + Softcover B&W Book $33.95 $22.90
TEKUMEL®: Welcome to a world as complex and fascinating as our own, but unlike anything you have ever experienced. Welcome to Tékumel, the creation of Professor M.A.R. Barker. This is an incredibly detailed science fantasy world, and the basis for the first complete world setting published by TSR Hobbies. Empire of the Petal Throne is a classic of the gaming genre, setting the standard for everything that followed after it.

A rich, complex world and a complete set of rules, Empire of the Petal Throne includes rules for character generation, magic, monsters, adventuring, societies and languages. It is set in the 2,354th Year “After the Seal” – the accession of the first Emperor of Tsolyánu, just before the events chronicled in Man of Gold, the first of several novels written by Prof. Barker. Included with the rules is a four page set of charts and tables, errata for the original game, a map of the City of Jakalla, a b&w map of the Five Empires, and a citizenship document for Tsolyanu, the Empire of the Petal Throne!

Hardcover and softcover: 140pp. PDF: 140pp. [nb: Empire of the Petal Throne is the original role-playing game for The World of Tékumel and is not the same as the Guardians of Order RPG, Tékumel: Empire of the Petal Throne.]
That's £15.13 for the softcover or £18.92 for the hardback in my money. The price for copies of the original on Amazon is astronomical. I think this PoD reprint could help open up the setting to a new generation of fans. The price difference between softback and hardback is only a few spondoolicks, so I'm debating which option to go for.

If you plan on using it at the game table, the hardcover is the best option...as it won't have any issue laying open flat. If you plan on getting this for casual reading, softcover is the more affordable route.

Ditto. I'm interested in this, but would appreciate any reports on the quality of the POD production before buying in.

I just got two books I bought in POD from drivethru, the quality is amazing! No printing bleed, colors are sensational.

Havard, have you gotten your book yet? I'm really curious to know what your impressions of it are.
