[Erde] Troll Lord Games' Erde Setting?

Postby Havard » Sun Nov 12, 2017 1:03 pm

I just came across my copy of the Lost City of Gaxmoor and remembered that this adventure, by Ernie Gygax and Luke Gygax, is set in the world of Erde. Since it was Gary Gygax who first wrote the prelude to the Lost City of Gaxmoor, an adventure called Search for a Lost City, does that mean that Erde should be considered another the Worlds of of Gary Gygax?

Rob Kuntz' Dark Druids (2002) is apparently also set in Erde.

Were all the adventures set in Erde written for D&D 3E? Or did any of them use Troll Lord's house system, Castles & Crusades as well? How many books were written in total detailing Erde?

Is Erde really just an erzatz Greyhawk, perhaps yet another alternate Oerth, or should it be considered a setting of its own right?

It's a setting in its own right. I have the Codex of Erde book so if you have any questions, I can reference that book.
The book credits GG as a contributor but the setting appears to have been created by others.

Erde (now Aihrde) is the setting created by Stephen Chenault when he and his brother were playing (A)D&D growing up. His brother, Davis Chenault, created Inzae which exists like a Hollow World within the inside of Aihrde.

Is that like Aerdy? As in the former Great Kingdom Of Aerdy, in Greyhawk.

Ahh, I didn't realize Erde and Airhde were names for the same setting. :)

That's correct. The spelling of the name was updated between the d20 and the Castles & Crusades versions of these products.

I bought the maps when they were on sale through Troll Lord. If there is any interest in seeing them I could shoot a video showing the quality of them.
