Any published setting that does not have its own bespoke subforum here already may be discussed here. Homebrew settings should be discussed in the separate homebrew setting forum. Published settings that have their own bespoke World Forums should be discussed in those areas. Discussions of Rulesets should go into the Cruncy Bits Section. Ghostwalk (D&D)
Call of Cthulhu
Freeport
Lankhmar

Pelinore
Kingdoms of Kalamar
Traveller
Scarred Lands

How Can These Settings Get Their Own World Forums?
Start threads for the settings first. If a setting proves to be popular enough, then check if they have reached the criteria for getting their own forums and make a request for it in the request thread. (Requirements and process detailed in that link).

Why Are Fate, RuneQuest, Savage Worlds, GURPS etc Not Included?
As mentioned above, these are systems, not settings and therefore belong in the Crunchy Bits. Feel free to suggest more settings for these systems to be added to the list though.

Other worlds that I'd be interested in discussing would be:

Ed Greenwood's Castlemourn
R.A. Salvatore's DemonWars

Monte Cook's Ptolus
Robert E. Howard's Hyboria (the world of Conan the Barbarian)
Fritz Leiber's Lankhmar
Kingdoms of Kalamar
Dawning Star
Interface Zero
Year of the Zombie

I just started a separate thread on Castlemourn.

Oh, and The Scarred Lands was another setting I forgot in my initial post. :)

I never thought about Hyboria and I'm a Conan fan (I have about 2/3rds of all the published Conan stories in some format or another). I love to talk about it with people. Actually, come to think of it, I might like Mystara and Hyboria for similar reasons; they both use cultures that are based on real world ones but with a fantasy slant to them. Having the flavour of cultures that you can recognize on a base level through names and appearance is a nice way to have you immersed into the world.

If only we had someone here who knew something about Aldrazar's solar system. :P ;)

Another couple of suggestions would be Paizo's Runelords setting and FFG's Midnight setting. I'd certainly be interested in seeing some posts on the Scarred Lands as well.

I don't know the first two settings at all, but have Relics and Rituals from Scarred Lands. The Scarred Lands look pretty interesting. Clark Peterson is a very friendly chap. I've even seen him answer questions that other people might ignore and talk to people who oppose his veiwpoint a lot. If you can get a Scarred Lands conversation going he may well turn up.

The worlds detailed in Catacombs, Endless Quest, One-on-One, and some of the other worlds.

Where would you put Rainbow Castle and the rainbow dragons?

How about Kingdom of Sorcery with Carr Delling?

Pretty much any campaign world that has ever been published by any games company, but that does not have a specific forum devoted to it, can be discussed in this forum.

Only those worlds that were ever published by TSR or WotC are likely to be split off into their own forums though. That will happen as and when there is a significant amount of discussion about such a campaign world.

While I'm pretty sure it's part of the Realms, Council of Wyrms doesn't seem to have it's own forum.

That is correct. It doesn't have its own forum. I believe CoW was written as an entirely new campaign world, not part of FR, but I may be wrong in this.

Rather than entertain requests for forums for specific settings, I only plan on making new forums for settings as and when there is a significant amount of actual discussion about such a setting. Until then, any setting that doesn't have its own forum can be discussed in this forum.

There is a forum request thread here. That is now primarily intended for sub-forums to the public houses, sub-forums for established campaign settings, and community projects.

Hi Blu Skreem,

I'd like to draw your attention to Ashtagon's post on having a Wilderlands subforum. Specifically this bit:
Ashtagon wrote:I have created an other worlds section to cover any published campaign world not already listed. Until I see enough posts to justify it (say, at least 5 threads total (that's total, not per day)), I'd prefer not to add more forums although sub-forums would certainly be considered.
I would love to see Council of Wyrms get its own forum and the very simple way to do that is to start (interesting) new threads about it that start with "[Council of Wyrms]". Generating enough (real) interest in the forum will, pretty much, get you the subforum you want - asking for a subforum, when nobody is talking about something will not work.

EDIT: OK, I've started the ball rolling with a thread that asks questions about Council of Wyrms: [Council of Wyrms] Has anyone played Council of Wyrms?. Maybe you could surf over to there and answer my questions.

Just to be clear, I have absolutely no problem with Harn, Warhammer, Talislanta, Traveller, or indeed any other non TSR/WotC campaign setting being discussed in this sub-section.

I have a standing policy that any formally published TSR/WotC setting will get a forum for itself once sufficient interest is demonstrated through posts about that setting. I may extend that to other worlds too, if sufficient interest is shown, but that part is not official.

I doubt we'll have enough interest in any of those worlds; most have their own official/unofficial forums and we'll probably not pick up enough traffic to warrent forums for 'em. But we've got a nice set of forums right now; it'd be nice to see some more traffic in FR/DS forums ;)

<reposted from v2 - originally posted Sun Jul 05, 2009 3:37 pm>

I've just started a couple of Warcraft/World of Warcraft threads. As the original RPG (the one called Warcraft RPG) was an official Dungeons and Dragons campaign setting, that means we might have a Warcraft subform if there is enough interest in the use of Warcraft as a campaign setting.

You should be able to forget Forgotten Realms (at least if you are in-character)! ;)

Well here's a "D'oh!" question from the grognard side of RPGs: What are the Scarred Lands?

They're a setting created by White Wolf for its Sword and Sorcery line of d20 products. It's a young world characterized by a comparatively recent war between the gods and titans, which left the land... scarred.

We can, of course, discuss any of those things at The Piazza (even if they don't go into this forum).

Someone needs to poke Havard with a stick and get him to update the list in his first post.

That sounds like a RPG system, rather than a campaign setting. :?

I think that Metamophosis Alpha is connected to Gamma World in some way. :?
Knightfall wrote:Shadowrun
OK. Just don't get me started on the London Sourcebook. It has Scotland in it (and last time I looked that was outside Zone 6) but 1/4 of London (my bit) is missing. Grr!

That would be the Amazing Engine system, and those others are 'settings' for that game system. However, the few that I have are generic enough to have some applications to a D&D game. I love the For Faerie, Queen & Country setting and would love to convert it to D&D or BRPS.
Big Mac wrote:I think that Metamophosis Alpha is connected to Gamma World in some way. :?
It is technically the Metamorphosis Alpha Second Edition. The game rules are largely incompatible with MA1, 3 or 4 (NOT D&D 3, 3.5 or 4e! But there is a D&D 4e rules for another MA edition; that would be MA5!) or any GW edition, and since I do not have this setting for Amazing Engine (AE) I cannot say how system neutral it is.
