Hello everyone,

I'm quite proud of my last episode so I thought I could share it here.

James Wallis himself (Hoghead Publishing, Paranoia RPG, ) joined us for an interview and to play his game Fantasy Flight Games "The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen".

https://rolistespod.com/2017/10/20/episode-24-part-1-armagnac-strudel-munchausen-james-wallis-a-few-other-friends/

The number of people, games and publishers mentioned in the recollection of his career is quite astounding (and it's only the first part of the episode):

Personalities and companies:
-Paul Mason author and Production Editor on Games International magazine,
-Spike Y. Jones game designer, author, and editor
-Erick Wujcik designer of both pen-and-paper and computer role-playing games, and co-founder of Palladium Books
-Kevin Siembieda, American artist, writer, designer and publisher of role-playing games
-Nicole Lindroos, game designer for Ars Magica, Vampire: The Masquerade, and Over the Edge
-John A. Nephew, game designer & founder of Atlas Games
-Chris Birch, founder of Modiphius
-Peter D. Adkison, founder and first CEO of Wizards of the Coast
-Mongoose Publishing

Games:
-“Advanced Dungeons & Dragons” by TSR
-“Traveller” by Marc W. Miller, Frank Chadwick & John Harshman for GDW
-“Empire of the Petal Throne” by M. A. R. Barker
-“Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles & Other Strangeness” by Erick Wujcik for Palladium Books
-“Amber Diceless Roleplaying Game” by Erick Wujcik by Phage Press
-“Ghostbusters – A Frightfully Cheerful Roleplaying Game” by Sandy Petersen, Lynn Willis and Greg Stafford for West End Games
-“Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game” by Greg Costikyan for West End Games
-“After the Bomb Book 5: Mutants in Avalon” by James Wallins & Kevin Siembieda for Palladium Books
-“Once Upon a Time” card game by Richard Lambert, Andrew Rilstone & James Wallis for Atlas Games
-“Magic: The Gathering” by Richard Garfield for Wizards of the Coast
-“The Extraordinary Adventures of Baron Munchausen” by James Wallis for Hogshead Publishing
-“Bugtown” by James Wallis
-“Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay” by Richard Halliwell, Rick Priestley, Graeme Davis, Jim Bambra, Phil Gallagher for Games Workshop
-“Interactive Fantasy: The Journal of Role-Playing and Story-Making Systems” by James Wallis for Hogshead Publishing
-“Dune: Chronicles of the Imperium” by Owen Seyler, Christian Moore, Matthew Colville

Please let me know what you think of it. I'd be especially interested if you had yourself memories of the people, games and events mentioned by James.

Please also share, RT and tell around about that episode if you enjoyed it.

I've only just seen this. I'll try to find a time to fit it in.

This is actually about roleplaying games and The Tabard Inn is The Piazza's "off topic" forum. As this is "on topic" I'll ask a moderator to move this somewhere more appropriate. (I'm thinking either The Crunchy Bits or The Wishing Well would be best. :? )

Sorry about that. I wasn't quite sure which location was the appropriate one.

Thanks for relocating the post in the correct location :)

I hope you will enjoy listening to that episode.

Thanks for an interesting show! I enjoyed learning more about James Wallis who definitely deserves more attention. I also like his shout outs to the now deceased Eric Wujic, a legend in game design. I did not care too much for the "in character" segments and I found the voice on top of music in the background to be a bit distracting, but that is probably just me turning into a grumpy old fart. Besides those things I liked the episode. :)

Thanks so much for taking the time to write those encouraging lines. ^_^

The second and final part of our episode with James Wallis is almost ready. It should be out next week (because I'm at Grogmeet this weekend / anyone around here going there too?).

Lol, I'm conscious that I'm maybe trying, with the episodes mixing actual play & interviews, to cater to two different audiences at the once. :?

Some (not all though) listeners told me that they'd prefer only the interview and others only the AP. Some also find it original. I dunno, at least it's a bit original (I hope).

The four UKGE episodes however don't have any actual play.

The show can be quite from one episode to another actually.

I like to keep trying to surprise listeners and myself. :P

I'm not normally one for podcasts. But that was very entertaining. Great work!

It is very rare that I listen to podcasts myself, but I'm glad I decided to give it a whirl. I am super excited for the next one!

Thank you both so much for this encouraging feedback.

It's been rather long since the last time people gave me feedback on the forums where I post.

That motivates me to release it next week (maybe sooner).

Feel free to try some of the earlier episodes (there are quite a bunch now).

If you enjoyed the mix of actual play and discussion, I would recommend you check Episode 20 which is about my favourite tabletop RPG setting: "Nephilim" a French contemporary occult RPG (subject of a not quite faithful Chaosium adaptation).

If you prefer listening to people from the RPG industry, you can either check our series recorded at Dragonmeet or the UK Games Expo or try our episodes with Chris Birch from Modiphius or Monte Cook.

Finally if you like travels maybe try the one recorded in a shop in Florence Italy or the one with a Detroit YA novelist visiting London and me visiting DC.

Again, I hope the variety of content is not disorientating but I'm trying to keep suprising my listeners.

 Sorry for the sales pitch

Here’s the second and final part of your evening with James Wallis.

As promised you will hear James’ theory that Nordic LARP is actually a Galaxy Quest kinda situation, as well as a few other things.

Thanks again James for this lovely evening and thank you also to Ashlee, Federica (both missing from our cover picture which is a shame), Garry and Sam for making this recording session a success (IMO).

In other news, we have already released three episodes of our bonus show “Café Rolistes” (titled Precog Campaigns & Quantum Ogres) for listeners supporting the show via Patreon. I am quite proud of how it is shaping up. It is nice to produce something with close to zero editing and planning. Please give it a try and let me know what you think.

It's the Network page that isn't being found. Just retried it and it is still coming up as a 404.

Yes Michael has been reworking it for a while.

I think the RPGA is about to have a revamp of the website anyway.
