[3D Art] Dark Sun - Crodlu Rider

Post by Silverblade-T-E » Tue Dec 30, 2008 5:31 am

In the wastes of Athas, a lone rider protects himself and his crodlu mount, from one of the many scavengers...no need to waste effort and precious water, no need to fight...not when your mind can bend even the will of a scorpion to your bidding!

The rider is experienced, no need to panic, as panic is a dangerous thing indeed in the wastes. So he calmly deals with the threat.

made in Vue7infinite, Poser/DAZ3D for creatures, post work in Photoshop :)

Well, I suppose it could also be a desert region of Krynn.

Beautiful as always, Silverblade! The 'psionic waves' were done very nicely, giving them a wispy nothingness feel to them.

Hugin
ta bud! :)
if you ever wanted to know how I do such effects..it's quite simple actually ;)

In photoshop, I have lto so f"brushes" I have brushes made from fractal images, that I bought, called "plasma flame brushes".

YOu use such a brush, VERY big they are, on a new layer, paint it with white, splat!, then you edit the new layer, scaling it down, rotating it to fit.
then, add a "Layer effect", outer glow, with a gradient of colour, this gives a fantastic magic, SFX look. then I use a mask to hide parts of it, like around his face, a bit at the scorpion's claw ot make it look like the effect is wrapping aorund the claw, and a big chunk in the middle that was too solid.
then reduce the opacity of the layer, so it blends into the main pic.
;)
