[3D Art] Dark Sun - Pyramid

Post by Silverblade-T-E » Thu Sep 11, 2008 11:14 pm

Finally joined up here so I can post my art, though not sure how many fo you have already seen this? :)
Lost, alone, an escaped mul slave finds shelter in the ruins of some ancient city, where a spring keeps him alive...but something else as well!
Done with Vue6 Infinite, Poser and postwork in PaintShopPro :)
Alas, I cannot post the full pics here, only links, limited to a very small image size, here, sorry!

Ya, I saw it on the WotC site and had to post a "Fantastic!" comment. Truly great work to give a visual sense of the setting. Please post some more!

Oh, and welcome to the Piazza!

Very nice, and very faithful to the setting.

The overpainting you did in Photoshop (I assume it was in photoshop) gives it a fantastic look and feel to it.

Thanks ! :)
aye it did, been trying to get something as good as that for ages ;)
The book cover art and simialr of the 60's/70s often had a look I loved, so was trying for that.

It's not over painting, it's tweaking things a bit in PaintShopPro - does same stuff as Photoshop, I have both, I just find PaintSHopPro much more pleasant to use, just photoshop has a few things PaintShopPro doesn't.

And then using two "Plugins".
First I ran "Brilliance and Warmth", which I got with a camera I bought, oddly enough, to make it brighter, warmer and more orange.
Then I ran "Clarify", one of the "XERO" plugin suite (Which is free) which really makes it stand out.

So they made the pic go "SPOING!" :D

Silverblade, I must say I like the "Simple" version the most. Keep up the wonderful work.

Great work (as usual).

I like all of these. I think the "orange sky" one fits in best with Dark Sun, but I do like elements of the "blue sky" version.

I think the "blue sky" one has more surface detail. (I definatly count an extra cacti in there.) And I think it is easier to see the "blue sky" moons and clouds. But apart from that, I prefer the orange sky colouration. It looks a lot more alien.

Ta mate! :)
I took out one cacti as it was exact same as the other, lol ;)
the "solid growth" technology in Vue, means you can create many plants (forests, gardens, football fields of gras whatever), none will be the same, but I think I used a "mesh" 3d polygon model for that cacti which are fixed in shape.
