Werewolf and wererat themes in Neverwinter Campaign Setting

Postby Birchbeer » Sat Aug 20, 2011 3:04 pm

I just got the Neverwinter Campaign Setting, within it there are themes that look like they allow a PC to be a werewolf and wererat. The themes are aamed "Pack Outcast" and "Dead Rat Deserter". "Pack Outcast" only allows for Human or shifter as race. "Dead Rat Deserter" allows for human, half-elf and halfling as races. Both allow the character to shapechange between animal and human (and hybrid for the werewolf, unsure on the wererat).

I wonder if at some later date they'll create the other lycanthropes. Though I imagine with these two as a guide it shouldn't be hard to create your own by hand.

Interesting. Do these powers act in a way similar to the druid wild shape?

There is a curious lack of any mention if you can use any powers while in wolf form for the Pack Outcast. The Dead Rat Deserter's Rat form is tiny and can't attack. The Dead Rat Deserter's rat form does not have the giant rat form in which you could attack. What else is odd is the at 10th level the Dead Rat Deserter gets a hybrid form standard, but the Wolf Outcast gets hybrid form as an optional feature.

Yes, it seems odd. Also, in general wererats transform into giant rats, not normal rats!
