Review of session 34 (Tuesday 30th October 2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi playing Alkaia the Sea Rune Ranger.

Events from middnight 4AM 11/10/4447 - 5PM 11/10/4447

The burning ship illuminated an horrific scene. Hoards of zombies swarmed around all three ships. The few survivors from the fireballed brig to the north fell screaming into the churning sea to be eaten alive by the voracious undead. The parties little vessel was also under attack with large numbers of the evil creatures clambering aboard. Arrows flew but the hoard came ever onwards. Clyw ordering the minotaur to sail towards the burning vessel to rescue any still living.
Unfortunately the second flying wizard had flown in under cover of smoke and darkness and let loose a terrible Ice Storm that layed both Alkaia and Thebia low and left all others aboard badly battered. Things looked grim.
Earendil set loose Mitra's holy power. Blasting divine light all around the ship and turning great numbers of zombies to dust and a healing word brought Alkai back to her feet. Thebia slipped closer to the eternal bosum of Athena however. Only quick thinking from Clyw saved them from total disaster and his Charm spell convinced the wicked mage to turn his attentions northwards.
More healing followed and the party steered towards the second vessel that was now swarmed with hundreds of soaking wet but all too active cadavers doing battle with the marines. The race was on to save them and our brave lads and lasses fairly flew across the waves their ship surrounded by swirling packs of spirit lions slaying all before them. Alas they were too slow and they rounded the first burning wreck only to see the last brave sailors fall to the ravenous horde...
With a sad heart they headed west, the first squalls of the rainy season on their heels reaching the safety of the Sleget Haven where no earthly storm can follow and thence to the welcoming arms of Actun where they choose to wait and gather their strength until Spring.

Events 1. 11/10/4447-1/2/4448

News during the Rainy Season.

Nativad, who tried to assassinate Redon the Enchanted has been exposed as working for the Black Adders - agents of Hautulin Seheitt. Could this spell war between ancient Actun and Veridistan?

The Witches of the Marmonmist Swamp are stirring up the monsters. Sliant is now hunting deep in the Elsenwood. Koses was driven mad and marauding in Lyoophiath Province and Falsum the Black Dragon is moving upon the Bitter Ridge. What further horrors have they awakened and why?

The Natchai, outlawed from the City of Veridistan by the Green Emperor are planning some terrible sacrificial rite. But to what end? And who is this mysterious figure White Fire that rumour whispers of?

The Lion and the Lamb have lain down together in the North. The imperial city of Tel Qua has seceded from Empire and raised the banners of Mitra and Mycr.
They have offered the hand of friendship to the wild Tharbrian clans and the cavemen of the Elphand Lands.
Will the Green Emperor stand by and let this happen?

The Red Reavers are massing their power and have allied with several humanoid tribes. Will they strike east at the Invincible Overlord, west towards Veridistan, south at Actun or do they have other hidden motives?

The Black Sun are not having a good time of it.
The Red Witch, Megaera Lorvas and her Skandik allies led by their King, Alkazed Ulfursson; the Black Dragon, the Eldritch One, the Kinslayer; were dealt a great blow when their fleet was scuppered by a freak hurricane as it sailed to make war upon Modron and the Invincible Overlord.
Kaystar Saru, Knight Concordant of a would be resurgent Nerath and leader of the Black Sun survivors also had his designs set back following a surprise night attack which saw his fledgling fleet in the Romilion Sea burning on the beaches of Palen Spring.

The missing warlord Hakeem Greywolf has returned to his native Altanis bearing the Eye of Morg. At his back a huge horde of Altani Barbarians. He is sweeping through those lands that the Bronzes of Hara usurped. None have the courage to stand before him and his wife the Golden Queen, Malenn of Mitra eagerly awaits him at Ahyf.

The Invinsible Overlord, free for now from worries of attack by the unified forces of the Black Sun and the Skandiks of Ossery turns his attention west. Will there ever be a better time to throw off the yoke of Veridistan? Or is it time to re-secure his position at home? He is furious at the Hero Hakeem Greywolf for stealing the Eye of Morg from under his very nose and worries that he should have accepted the barbarian’s offer of alliance when it was offered.

The Amiondel elves of Ludgates have intensified their raiding, reaching even as far a Dianchect.

News for Clyw.

At some stage during the rainy season Clyw is summoned by Sir Sandar Half Elven. He is sat at his desk and on it is a long thin wooden tube. Decorated with bright feathers and the skulls of small animals. Beside it an embroidered leather pouch containing 20 little darts and a small dtoppered leatheren bottle full of a nasty sticky substance. A gift from the Jungle Hobbits for returning their Shaman.
It is a Blow Pipe +1 (PHB) and the poison is a DC 15 Con save or 2d6 damage.

Review of session 35 (Tuesday 6th November2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi playing Alkaia the Sea Rune Ranger.

Events from 9AM 1/2/4448 - 1034AM 7/2/4448

After the great party overlooking the Sleget Haven the party were cloistered with King Redon for a time and a plan of action forged.
The elves of Actun would wage a campaign to drive back the Orc and Gnoll tribes locally whilst the party headed back into Veridistan.
They would unite the elves of the Elsenwood the Fair Folk of Shelter Haven and Redon’s folk into an alliance to thwart the Green Emperor’s plans to march his Vast Hosts North to quell the Mithratic and Mycretian rebellion at Tel-Qa.
To achieve this they were to firstly make contact with Splendulin and Efrinodel at their hidden city in the Hefaelond Cleft. No easy task. But one they would attempt by snaring the dreadful Sliant using a magical horn to summon and bind him and then offering his head to the Wood Elf monarchs.
The Grey Elves would be equally difficult to contact but they knew from Harlgrim the Wildman that among the captives of the Natchai was Arthur of Valon a friend to the Fair Folk and they would attempt to rescue him and the merchant, Umber Hoggart from the Moat House lair of Lareth the Beautiful thought to be found near the Sprinkle Creek Crossing.
It was a fair bright morning that they set off upon this next stage of their adventures. Frolicking upon the waves Thebia riding upon the back of mighty Vykhor whilst Clyw rode Mr. Piggles all kept afloat by Earendil’s magic whilst Alkaia looked on.
The journey was mostly uneventful once they had outrun Amiondel pirates south of Gheulost Island and they made land at the friendly port of Sully where they were greeted by Mithraic sympathisers led by Olaewia Aude, landlady of the Silver Eel before starting their deadly hunt for the foul serpent.
Leaving at dawn they headed west along the eaves of the Elsenwood blowing the Enchanted war horn until around mid morning they were answered by a terrible roar. Sliant was upon them!
They made their battle lines in a small clearing as Sliant burst upon them. Mitra’s magic protecting them from the worst effects of his poisonous breath. Then they fell upon him. Too late the evil creature realised his plight. Bound by the magic of the horn he could not flee and even though his claws caused terrible wounds he could not stand before our heroes. Alkaia dealing his death blow with the star-spear before Thebia removed his head.
We will join them here next week.

Review of session 36 (Tuesday 13th November2018)

The Court of Splendulin and Efrinodel. Assault on the Moathouse.

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
NPC Alkaia the Sea Rune Ranger.
NPC Halgrim the Tharbrian Berserker

Events from 1034AM 7/2/4448 - 0030 18/2/4448

Taking Sliant’s head the party ambled northwards deeper into the Elsenwood. After several miles they noticed they were being shadowed by wood elf scouts riding giant wolves and soon they made contact. Indeed contact with an old friend as it was Hekate and her wolf Nightfang that was their leader and she took them to the hidden city deep within the forest as night fell.
The huge trees were illuminated by shades of faerie fire and the music of the sylven folk filled the air. They climed up the staircase which encircled the biggest tree they had ever seen and waiting atop it's highest bows were Efrinodel and Splendulin the ancient Kings of this realm to whom they showed their grizzly trophy. Much celebration was had and for several days the party was cloistered with the high councilors of the wood elves or questioning Sliant's dead spirit to find the location of his treasure. Both went well and agreement was reached that Elsenwood would break their treaty with Veridistan and block the Green Emperor way before Hautulin Seheitt can march his vast hosts north to pacify Tel-Qa and the old serpent's treasure was gathered up including an old bronze, Veridian shortsword forged to battle the Giants of the Yakin Ley.
Harlgrim had gone ahead to keep watch on the Moathouse and his friends joined him around midnight several days later. After a brief chat an attempt was made to sneak up the broken wall in the south east of the square tower. Using Earendil's magic to create a circle of silence they waded the moat and started the climb but to their consternation a huge boulder seemed to rise out of the rubble and bound at great speed towards them!
Harlgrim, quick as a flash leaped to attack it but it sailed over his head and is about to land on Thebia. Will it squash her flat or fly past harmlessly? Find out next week. XP 1,000 each.

Initiatives order is.

Harlgrim #21
'Boulder' #20
Clyw #15 (dex)
Earendil #15
Thebia #14

Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi playing Alkaia the Sea Rune Ranger.
NPC Halgrim the Tharbrian Berserker

Events from 0030 - 0050 18/2/4448

The boulder sailed harmlessly over Thebia’s head landing with a splash in the moat and then unfolding into a huge stony humanoid figure. One that the cool headed Clyw enspelled and suggested that it helped them within the tower and attacked the first creatures they saw.
Entering the square tower they were swarmed by black scaly Cave Imps but once they were squished the Galeb - Duhr reverted to type and much bashing was done before it was beaten to rubble.
Harlgrim pointed out the secret door and our chaps crept down the well worn staircase beyond.
They entered a natural cave system guarded by a fearsome Stone Giant. Boulders were chucked and Earendil’s flares saved the party from serious damage. That is until emboldened by causing massive damage with her new Giant Slayer Sword, Thebia got too close and took two huge blows on the head from the stone club and down she went.
Furious, Alkaia sent an arrow which pierced the lumbering monster’s brain and it fell dead.
We leave them healing their wounds until next week.

Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi playing Alkaia the Sea Rune Ranger.
NPC Halgrim the Tharbrian Berserker

Events from 0050 - 0530 18/2/4448

With a mighty crash the staircase behind them collapsed expelling a dusty Harlgrim. It seems that there was at least one Imp left above and it had got an Earth Elemental to help him trap the party below.
They pushed on regardless and found the Giant’s sleeping quarters which they robbed blind but failed to shift his huge bed that may have granted them access to some kind of escape route.
To the south an subtle and intangible curtain seemed to block their way but cunning Clyw donned one of the Natchai unholy symbols they had found and passed through untouched. The rest followed suite and they found themselves in an eerie cave. A red stone obelisk at its centre and the walls set with skulls. Skulls who’s eye sockets glowed with eldritch light. Smashing these to pieces they proceeded through stone doors to the south which led into a domestic area. After searching a storeroom they disturbed three sleeping Natch-Ur cult fanatics and butchered them without mercy. It seems this battle has disturbed something though... what it is we shall see next week.

The Tree of Woe

Events from 0530 - 0830 18/2/4448

Clyw slid to a halt seeing the dark skinned warrior emerging from the room up the corridor. The rogue's magic was strong however and the fellow rolled around on the floor in fits of laughter whilst Clyw bound him and fetched his friends.
It turned out that the captain was simply a mercenery recruited by the temple and with a bit of bribery he was gotten onside to help rescue the prisoners who he knew were held captive upon 'The Tree of Woe' but knew not what this was.
They headed south and found three magical gateways to the inner sanctum of the Natchai. Choosing the middle path, The Heart of Stone they battled an Earth Elemental to finally win through to the massive chamber that housed the forementioned mythical tree.
It soared up out of sight and twisted within its thorny branches were many dozens of inoccent captives including Umber Hoggart and Arthur of Valon.
Surrounded by the Holy Lions of Mitra, Earendil mounted his magical Fly and buzzed up to try and free them only to be attacked by flailing branches from all around. He was dealt several mighty blows but somehow kept his head. Now battle began in earnest. Lady Luck was not with the party this night and things looked grim. Blows were traded and it seemed as if they would flee the deadly encounter but (and I'm not sure why?) they took heart and attacked with renewed vigour. Earendil was smashed from the sky his enchanted mount destroyed and Thebia of course took viscious blows to the head but eventually it was Clyw who finished the thing off. It crashed to the ground releasing the captives from it's grasp.
They hurried back through the complex and with much heaving managed to move the Giant's bed revealing a hole below leading to a murky and foul stream. Following this they were surprised by Giant Frogs but easily slew them before emerging, blinking and filthy into the cold morning light.
We will join them here next week.

Arthur of Valon's story.

When first you met Arthur, the Ice Wizard of Valon he asked your help to get him north from the Jolly Ent to the Shilly-Shallows as he was on a mission to visit the Fair Folk of Shelter Haven. After you parted company at the little town of Y'Dell he was captured along with the merchant, Humbar Hoggart.
Following his release by your hand and listening to your story he shares the following information.

"It seems we work towards a similar goal and strange paths have led us to this point. I had news for the Fair Folk regarding Natchai involvment in the provinces since the Green Emperor banished their leaders two years ago from the City of Spices. Indeed at Caer Cadwen on the very doorstep of Shelter Haven I discovered that the ruling Shah is actually a Demon taken human form summoned by the Natchai Prelate Wu-Ug!
I now know more as Lareth the Beautiful who captured us would torment me as I suffered upon that horrid tree. It seems that far to the east at Grimlon in Gommeroth province, Taata-Ert, Natch-Ur'sPrimate has pulled off a similar coup and replaced the ruller there with another foul spawn of Hell.
It would seem that even this is not enough and that there is a shadowy figure behind these actions. A guiding power determined to bring down Hautulin Seheitt and the Empire itself. A figure known only as Whitefire. But this Whitefire has business here too for the Moat House was originally built on the site where a great Cathederal to wickedness stood a high holy place of Natch-Ur long since sunk beneath the ground by the saintly Emperor Cneninadus the Mycretian during his reforms. This planned sacrifice, this Scarlett Sprinkle was set to raise the temple from the Abyss and once more unite the evil earth cultists!
I will take the words of King Redon and his brother monarchs in the Elsenwood to Shelter Haven where we can make common purpose."

Review of session 40 (Tuesday 11th December2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi with Alkaia. Amazon Ranger of Sea Rune.
NPC Halgrim the Tharbrian Berserker
Bardrik captured Guard Captain

Events from 0830 18/2/4448 - 1500 19/2/4448

Friends were waiting to greet our gang of bedraggled adventurers and those they had rescued. Hekate and her chums the elven wolf rangers along with Catchpole the Hobbit who they remembered from the Jolly Ent. Trusting the civilians into their care our heroes rested under the eaves of the northern Elsenwood chatting with Arthur of Valon and deciding what moves to make.
At dawn, the Avalonian Ice Wizard set off to deliver King Redon's plan to the Grey Elves of Shelter Haven whilst the rest, joined now by Barlrik (who had taken quite the shine to Thebia) once more ventured ino the dungeons below the Moat House.
The place was deserted until they passed the doors beyond the Tree of Woe. Here they found a large audience chamber, the walls and ceilings made all of shadow and sat on a throne, high on a dias at the far end was the insipid and pale skinned youth, Lareth the Beautiful.
As villians are want to do he outlined his plans to raise up from the Abyss the once great temple of Natch-Ur and as the party had deprived him of his sacrificial victims he would use their sould to do it!
But Clyw was too quick for him and using his suggestion magic drew forth yet more information on the place and the cult as the rest crept closer...
Then with a great shout battle was joined. Harlgrim leading the charge with the rest close behind. Alkaia drew first blood with a flurryof arrows then drawing her Star Spear when she realised that mundane weapons did little harm to the youth. Mitra's Lions snarled and pawed around their master and all struck wounds that would have slain any mortal foe. But Lareth proved far from mortal. His form twisted and made the most horrible changes becoming a giant half ape, half boar monster. A demon from the deepest pits. Nalfeshnee! Worse still he summoned forth Shadow Demons from the very walls of the place and their sneak attacks did terrible damage, dispelling the Holy Lion's of Mitra into the bargain.
But our chaps were well prepared and they set too doing war upon the foul beast with magic and blade. Seconds before Lareth would have fled the very plane of existence it was Thebia who's enchanted blade split his physical form in two. Sending his wicked spirit back to Hell.

And here we must leave them until we can meet again in the new year.
Thank you all for some great moments and memories. It has been a privilege to explore the Wilderlands with you over this last year and watch the story unfold through your actions. Here's to the next 40 sessions :)

Review of session 41 (Tuesday 8th January 2019)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi with Alkaia. Amazon Ranger of Sea Rune.
Bardrik mercenary Guard Captain

Events from 1500 19/2/4448- 0915 2/3/4448

Much loot was gathered from the underground temple. Arthur left to visit the Fair Folk and Harlgrim to go back to his people to raise them in support of Tel Qa.
The others meandered down to the Jolly Ent Inn to celebrate the Awakening Feast for the start of Spring. And a great time was had by all. Clyw gathered rumours about an assassin’s haunt in the City of Spices and information was gained about the ruler of nearby Cear Cadwen and his bloody handed lieutenant.
Alkaia proved that humans really can drink while even the visiting elves drank the others under the table. They staggered upstairs in the early hours in the now nearly deserted inn.
Their awakening was a rude one. The inn surrounded by a veteran squad of Veridian infantrymen led by a rhino riding captain had them trapped. By his side a green cloaked priest of Amrnadad Bog and the evil wizard ‘Black Soul’.
Hubris was upon Earendil who marched straight out to do battle but things didn’t go the way our guys hoped. The battle tactics of the empire force drove them off down a secret tunnel, lucky to be alive and with the Jolly Ent in flames. Their only consolation was leaving the green robes priest dead behind them.
They flee underground into the Elsenwood, leaving many of their possessions behind. until next week.

Review of session 42 (Tuesday 15th January 2019)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi with Alkaia. Amazon Ranger of Sea Rune.
Bardrik mercenary Guard Captain

Events from 0915 2/3/4449 - 0940ish ( start of round 5 of combat)

Our gang huddled along the underground tunnel. Itwas decided that they would send Red and her surviving staffout to meet them at the abandoned elven town of Eithal, where the year before Alkaia and Earendil had slain the specter of Alkratson the Terrible. Then whilst Mitra's cleric prayed for healing Clyw crept up into the cellar to investigate. He sent his familiar Mr. Peewit Cru outside the walls of the inn to get a lay of the land and the disposition of the enemy forces. This done he went back to join the rest.
It was Earendil who led the charge upwards with the rest following. Alkaia blocked off the front door with Spike Growth whilst the cleric and paladin stormed across the common room heading for the stairs to the first floor under withering fire. Clyw answered with sneak attacks but no real damage was done on either side.
Earendil pressed the attack up the stairs surrounded by the spirit lions of his God. Clyw and Thebia darting in to make their attacks against the shielded spearmen blocking their way.
The missile exchanges continued below and Bardrik charged into the fray (right through Alkaia's spikes) taking terrible wounds but engaging another bowman. Alkaia's aim with her Hunter's Mark proved more deadly though and by the time the stairs above were cleared only two of the veterans remained up in the common room. Bardrik fighting a third.
As we leave the scene Earendil stands before the doors to the parties old rooms. We will pick it up here when I return from my holidays.

Initiative order.

Clyw - 18
Thebia - 16
Alkaia - 15
Earendil - 13
Veridian Forces - 12
Bardrik - 8

Review of session 43 (Tuesday 5th February 2019)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi with Alkaia. Amazon Ranger of Sea Rune.
Bardrik mercenary Guard Captain

Events from 0940ish 2/3/4448 - 0900 3/3/4448

Earendil and Thebia burst into their old room only to find it ransacked of much wealth, the thieving soldier has escaped through the window and dropped onto the upraised shields of his fellows below . Clyw used his invisible hand to deprive the surviving soldier downstairs of his arrows and Alkaia fired her own at the poor soul too.
Even though Mitra's priest battered the robbers with mighty magics they escaped, just. Thankfully they had not made off with any of the party's magic items.
Now the brazen horns were getting closer so Clyw teleported out of the window and rescued Vykhor and Mr. Piggles agreeing first that they should all meet at the abandoned village of Eithel, deep within the Elsenwood when they could. The others slipped away down the secret passage from the cellar.
It was a bedraggled group indeed that later that day were greeted at Eithel by Hekate and her rangers. She asked them to go with her to an audience with the wood elf kings as much had been happening and by evening they had reached the sacred groves. A midnight council saw them meet with the strangely beautiful fair folk, the Grey Elves and the sylvan monarchs. Here too was their friend Arthur, the Ice Mage of Valon who explained what had happened.
Arthur had left our chaps after they had rescued him from the Tree of Woe and gone straight to Shelterhaven to raise the Grey Elves who had immediately dispatched a small force under the command of their legendery Bard Anstruth. Unfortunatey they had underestimated the Green Emperor who had already launched his forces. Vast hostes from Sunwatch to recapture Tel-Qa and from thre Moon Tower to destroy the little town of Sully and it's Mitran sympathisers. Worse still it seems that Hautulin had also managed to bring the Hill Giants of Yakin Ley in on his side and it was a force of these that ambushed Anstruth and his Faerie cohorts capturing the Bard and his magical harp.
After some discussion it was decided that of the many courses they could follow most urgent was the rescue of Anstruth and after resting and with Divinations from Mitra proving hopeful they set off at dawn mounted on swift white faerie steeds reaching the northernmost edge of the Elsenwood around 9AM. Until next week.....

XP 3,000 each.

Players and their characters

Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi with Alkaia. Amazon Ranger of Sea Rune.

Events from 0900 3/3/4448 - 1430 3/3/4448

Foul weather waited for our chaps as they left the Elsenwood to head towards the stone bridge over Springle Creek. Alkaia had reassured them that no major traffic had been seen along the Green Emperor Way in this direction so confident that Veridian forces had not yet got this far they began their journey at the gallop.
The miles flew by mounted on their white Elf steeds and the road was theirs alone during the current downpour.
As the thundered over the stout bridge Alkaia once more stopped to read the tracks and Earendil took advantage of the break to speak with his God regarding the road ahead. This done they were once more flying northwards.
By midday they had reached the small sod cutting village of Drydale but the streets here were deserted as the inhabitants kept close to their fires to avoid the now torrential rain.
Early afternoon brought their first encounter (as prophesied by Mitra) a group of fierce looking Centaur scouts from the Berserker Wilds. The horse-men had heard rumours of war and were off east to confirm this. Both sides having news of interest to the other. The Tharbrian nomads were pleased to hear that the insular elves were mobilising and our lads heard that the Invincible Overlord’s armies were on the march. The Centaurs also hinted of supernatural aid from their ancestors.
They went their separate ways the party now heading north into the foothills of the Brotbuckle Briars where they were ambushed by four huge wolves. Pouncing from the gorsey undergrowth they brought down Clyw, slaying his fine elven steed during their surprise attack. The party responded with swift vengeance the gloomy sodden air ablaze with Mitra’s magic and Alkaia thundering in to attack.
Unfortunately we have to leave them here. For how long is not known for what the Gods have in store for our Wilderlands story has yet to be revealed.
Thank you all for playing.

Review of session 45 (Tuesday 19th February 2019)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi with Alkaia. Amazon Ranger of Sea Rune.

Events from 1430 3/3/4448 - 1100 4/3/4448

Thebia drove her lance through the body of the largest wolf, lifting it from the ground, dead. The others tried pouncing upon her but Mitra's holy fire burned them to cinders. Swapping mounts, Clyw taking the Paladin's elven horse they set off again.
As the daylight was failing they ventured a little too close to the river's edge and were set upon by swarms of wicked bighting midges but they soon outdistanced these and eventually found sanctuary in a small cave a few miles south of the Yakin Ley.
A comfortable (and boozy) evening was passed telling tales and drying clothes before Alkaia set off at dawn to scout the Giant's fort. The weather had if anything taken a turn for the worse and the thunder bellowed above.
She found two likely entrances. One in a tower at the south end and a large fence like double affair in the middle of the east wall. She also heard barking dogs within and surprisingly tuneful singing!
Returning later that morning with her friends she tried at first to climb in through the opening high up on the tower but failed twice, beaten by the slick logs. Deciding instead to force the doors just enough to squeeze through they entered a large hall full of cloaks and jackets. Two drunken Hill Giants snoozed over a barrel therein.
Sneaking past they went further into the complex and Earendil used his magic to scry for Anstruth the missing bard. He was revealed to be within the great hall itself and careful listening confirmed this along with the fact he was entertaining the great brutes right royaly.
They retreated somewhat and after a brief exploration of what seemed to be an armoury we shall leave them until next week.

Anstruth tells the party of the Fimir..

The Fimir are amphibious humanoid monsters that haunt the bogs, fens and desolate moorlands of the Marmonmist. Their strongholds take the form of forbidding, craggy piles of rock, crudely built in the semblance of the castles of more civilised races. Such dwellings are seldom seen by outsiders, for they are wreathed in thick mist, a miasma which is magically generated by the Fimir to shield their fortresses from prying eyes, and themselves from the harsh glare of the sun.
Most Fimir are male. The only female Fimir are the Meargh, powerful spellcasters who rule the Fimir clans. There is only one Meargh per clan; if she has a daughter, the daughter will leave to form her own clan.
Long before the rise of Man, the Fimir worshiped the Chaos Gods, and for a time enjoyed their favor. Alas, the Eye of the Gods was swiftly drawn to the more vibrant and amusing race of Man, and the Fimir were abandoned, reduced to seeking boons from bound Daemons where once they had enjoyed the blessings of gods until they were adopted by the Marmon Hags.
Nowadays, the Fimir are a dwindling and reclusive race, little given to leaving their swampy fastnesses, save for the occasional raid for food and slaves. Only the Fimir sorcerers, known as Dirach or sometimes as Balefiends, spend prolonged periods in the lands beyond the mists.
The Fimir’s cyclopean eye can see the ebb and flow of the Winds of Magic in the same way a Man's perceives light and shade.

eview of session 46 (Tuesday 26th February 2019)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi with Alkaia. Amazon Ranger of Sea Rune.

Events from 1100 4/3/4448 - 1000 5/3/4448

Our chaps explored further into the great wooden halls of the Yakin Lay. The party seemed to still be going full swing as they carefully searched one area after another. In one great chamber lit by a roaring hearth fire they discovered among many trophies a magical shield and in another a massive suite of crude plate armour and a magical copper javelin inscribed with runes of power. They also disturbed the Queen's cave bear left to guard her rooms from just such snooping but the poor thing didn't last long , Clyw skewering it on his rapier in one sly blow.
The Queens room was ransacked too, many gems were found and the saucy rogue also gathered a pair of huge and slightly soiled bloomers to add to his trophies.
Whilst heading back south they heard the doors to the main hall open, freezing they sent Clyw forward to see what was going on. He saw Anstruth seemingly in amicable converation with the Hill Giant King walking back into the comfortable rooms to the east. Quick as a flash the trickster used his Suggestion spell to get Chief Spean to grab the elf and take him to the quiet area they had just left. Anstruth was not amused as he was wrapped in the vice like grip but his shouts went unheard thanks to Earendil' Silence magic.
Things looked tense but the Grey Elf Bard got a grip of himself and explained that the Giants had been duped into attacking them. Duped by ancient servents of the Marmonmist Hags. The Fimir! These wicked creatures had fled back north with the magical harp and it looks like our chaps will be setting off after them next week.

Review of session 47 (Tuesday 5th March 2019)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi with Alkaia. Amazon Ranger of Sea Rune.

Events from 1000 5/3/4448 - 1200 5/3/4448

Following a night of happy carousing with the Giants. A night that had held many surprises for the Giants, lumpen and ugly as they are were not bad guys at all. Indeed the hounds they had heard proved to be Blink Dogs. But back to the story. Our chaps galloped off into the wretched storm (yes a 3rd 1 on the trot) with Mitra's warning to avoid bridges ringing in their ears. A warning they ignored when an hour or so later they came upon a narrow stone bridge crossing the raging torrent of the Nurn as it sped north-west towards the Stay Falls.
Thebia and Alkaia went poking around under the arches where they found many crunched bones and a pile of flotsum which made up the lair of a fierce Troll. The creature was doing well, poking big holes in Alkaia with it's horrid clawks and regenerating the wounds they inflicted until Earendil blasted it with no less than six fiery bolts. This proved to much for the beast which tried to flee by jumping into the river but Thebia was too quick and a huge blow obliterated the poor creature.
Among the detrius was found a large number of copper coins and a magical golden ring set with a fine topaz stone. The band of the ring had a faint worn sigil within. The lion's head of Mitra.
Bouyed by this find Earendil called upon his God to enchant the hooves of their steeds allowing them to ride upon the fast flowing waters of the river. They thundered off at great speed under the lightning blasted sky. Arriving at the falls in a matter of minutes only to find them blanketed in a thick grey mist. What could be afoot? Find out next week.

Review of session 48 (Tuesday 19th March 2019)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi with Alkaia. Amazon Ranger of Sea Rune.

Events from 1200 5/3/4448 - 1210 5/3/4448

The keen ears of Clyw picked up a droaning sound coming from within the mist that shrouded the top of the Stay Falls. This warning alowed them to spur their horses up onto the north bank before a horrid fly-demon emerged and set about them.
Only Clyw's steed fell victim to the deadly call, falling into a catatonic slumber. Earendil swift as a cat raised up his spirit guardians but this didn't stop the fearsome Chasme from swooping down on Thebia doing dreadful necrotic damage to the Paladin. The rogue joined the fray and Athena's champion was hard put to healing herself, calling on her Goddess to give her sanctuary.
Worse still the mist was now moving quickly towards the shore and soon engulfed the combatants.
They saw only brief flashes of the new menace. Red glowing cyclopian eyes and sharp teeth loomed at them and great bronze maces struck again and again. Thankfully Thebia drove the demon from the field then each of our heroes fled in their own direction to escape the eldritch fog until Earendil dispeled it using a powerful spell. The wretched Fimir warriors within were exposed and they fled into the deep and fast flowing river.
They dashed to rescue the fallen elven steed, finding that holy water was the only way cure the condition. Getting the horse back up they looked on noting that a further heavy mist obscured the river beyond th falls. What will be their next move?
