ew of Session 12 (Tuesday 24th April 2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra, Cleric of the Light
Kentheconfused and Xandor the Wizard
Bochi playing Alkaia the Amazon Ranger
Dreamteam introducing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden introducing Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven.

Events from 10PM 15/9/4447 - 10:30AM 17/9/4447

Firstly a bit of a recap on Thebia & Clyw’s Sea journey aboard the Betty-Anne including a couple of hooks I was hoping to introduce before we ran out of time.
The journey was long and arduous. Taking 46 days in total, this should give some idea of the undertaking Alkaia is suggesting.
Thebia made the acquaintance of one Maglor, the High Elf Vizier of The Golden Queen newly crowned in Ahyf. She was charged with (and we will assume she did?) delivering a sealed scroll tube to the High Priestess of Athena at Diancecht. For this she receives Inspiration, sorry I forgot to mention that in the rush.
The pair also briefly explored one of the entrances used by the now dead Black Dragon, Matriarx on the Isle of Dread.
Other stuff that they can pass on; The Fingers are most dangerous to pass as The Amiondel, the Elves that delved too deep, are launching raids from their home at Ludgate much to the vexation of Imperial Overlord and World Emperor.

And so onto the night’s action.
Landing at Targnol Port our new chaps made enquiry as to the pyrotechnics they had witnessed as they sailed along the coast and were told that a ruined fort, thought infested with Gnolls was close by that location. Brave chaps set straight off to investigate and by the end of the 16th had found our heroes.
Joining forces the following morning they attacked the fort. Aiming to get around the east side and enter via the broken wall in the SE corner.
Much fighting and magic was evident with our fellows eventually winning to within 30’ of their goal. 3 Gnolls lay dead before them another burned and transfixed upon the watchtower where two further wounded Gnolls are in magical slumber. With these is one Gnoll archer currently drawing a bead on Clyw who has climbed the east wall and is now 10’ from its south end. Below a brace of Gnolla have removed the makeshift driftwood gate. No evidence of further movement within the courtyard is visible.
We join them next week at the start of round 7.
Initiative Order
#17 Thebia
#17 Gnolls
#13 Clyw
#9 Xandor
#9 Earendil
#4 Alkaia

Review of Session 13 (Tuesday 1st May 2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra, Cleric of the Light
Kentheconfused and Xandor the Wizard
Bochi playing Alkaia the Amazon Ranger
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven.

Events from 10:30AM 17/9/4447 to 1:00PM 17/9/4447.

Our heroes make swift work of the remaining Gnoll the others flee north towards larger ruins in the distance. The two sleeping ones are captured, questioned and then released.
Working on information received our chaps venture down a spiral staircase found in the ruined tower into an spooky green marble clad underground Mur Shunna Temple. They explore a row of marble heads on plinths leading to a chamber where four copper wolves stand guard over the last. More ancient Veridian writing is on a lupine mosaic beyond, Earendil translates this as ‘WHEN ALL EYES ARE ON THE EAST, THEN SHALL THE WOLF RISE.’
Returning west along the long chamber they see through an ancient copper portcullis the temple’s alter to Amadad Bog but decide to go through the copper clad door they find to the north. Firstly rescuing a merchant, Hassan, captured by the Gnolls, his friends eaten. Then up a narrow winding stair they go to do battle with the huge, hairy Gnoll leader. This fierce creature comes close to slaying Thebia but in the end a combination of Xandor’s Magic Missiles, Mitra’s holy fire, Alkaia’s spear and a cunning blow from Clyw finish the brute off. Considerable loot is found.

Total XP for last week and this 415 each

ew of Session 14 (Tuesday 15th May 2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Bochi playing Alkaia the Amazon Ranger
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven.

Events from 10:30AM 17/9/4447 to 2:30 17/9/4447.

Clyw managed to open one of the chests revealing silver within. The second lock resisted both his nimble fingers and the more direct actions of our ladies.
In a huff Earendil and Thebia went topside to keep watch for vengeful Gnolls while Alkaia and Clyw set to searching out secret doors in the temple foyer below.
Both took about an hour to yield results. Our secret door searchers found nothing but did ascertain that the lion mosaic wall was hollow beyond. They were disturbed about this time with shouts from above and Alkaia went up to investigate leaving the Rogue twisting the busts of Amadad Bog atop their pedestals to face eastward.
Meanwhile Thebia has been watching a solitary figure traipse from the Hradd ruins across the Targnol Plain towards her. It turned out to be a sturdy if ancient Dwarf. Hunchbacked, dressed in furs and leaning on an oaken staff. It seemed he wanted to talk and after a brief altercation he was helped into the fort across the new barricade. His news about the Gnolls been robbers for sure but not man eaters (indeed they ransomed any captives to subsidise their income) set alarm bells ringing.
Quite rightly so as it happened for as Clyw was twisting and turning the heads the creature that had been Hassan gave away its true nature; it was a Dopplganger!
The foul thing attacked our thief who fled up the stairs and was only saved by throwing marbles behind him which caused the perusing monster to go flying and cartwheeling back down the steps. Clyw raised the alarm and our heroes along with Kappa (the Dwarf) went down to do war upon it .
A nasty little fight followed with the creature deciding it was bested and fleeing. But our fellows were too quick and it was brought down before it could reach the road. Thebia taking it’s head to make sure.
Here we leave them for now.
XP 175 each
Bonus XP for Clyw. 25 for his inspired marble trick actually working and 50 as promised for the map.

Review of Session 15 (Tuesday 22nd May 2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Kentheconfused and Xandor the wizard
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven.

Events from 2:30 17/9/4447 to 17:00 17/9/4447.

Alkaia and Earendil kept watch above as the others, bidding Kappa farewell went below to start bust twisting in earnest. Firstly turning them all south to lower the bars into the Mur Shunna Temple where a thorough search turned up a mother of pearl bowl containing half of a bronze key.
Next they moved them all to face East in line with the verse in the mural. This caused the wall section to the east to lower and also animated the clockwork wolves. The battle that followed did not go well and it looked like curtains for brave Thebia but desperate spell casting, spear chucking and final sneak attacking won the day.
It was about now that Earendil popped his head in to investigate further through the secret door with the rest. A staircase in the chamber below wound down to sea level and here a room was discovered with statues of Amadad Bog and a large sea water pool. Standing up out of the pool was a green marble pillar with what they took to be the second part of the key upon it. Further rumination was suspended by the sudden appearance of a Giant Octopus from the depths below sending our hero’s scattering for safety. Well all but Clyw who calmly shot and stabbed at the many writhing tentacles before making a debonair exit.
After a little chat and brow mopping it was Xandor with his Mage Hand cantrip that secured the rod and made the key one again. Sure enough it fit snugly into a key hole above and opened a small door into a natural tunnel leading north-south.
We will join our likely lads and lasses here next week.

Review of session 16 (Tuesday 29th May 2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Kentheconfused and Xandor the wizard
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven
Bochi playing Alkaia of Sea Rune, Amazon Ranger.

Events from 17:00 17/9/4447 to 13:30 19/9/4447.

Sleep was much evident and all awoke feeling refreshed with their shiny new powers. It was decided that a visit to Krak the Gnoll Warlord was in order to try put things right over the massacre at the fort. Trudging across the damp plains towards the Hradd Ruins they were intercepted by a party of the shaggy humonoids and a pack of hyenas. Thankfully parlour tricks were sufficient to cow the craven creatures into taking the party to their leader.
His Hall was barbaric to say the least. Krak sat on his wooden throne with two massive Hyenadons on chain leaches at his feet. He regarded our chaps with surprisingly intelligent eyes. Eyes that were smart enough to spot the supplicants casting spells and one of them even trying to sneak off through one of the many exits, right under his snout!
This did not please the Lord of Gnolla but some sweet talk from our sensible lasses had stuff moving along nicely and even gaining information on the Night Mother, the Wight mentioned as haunting this area of coastline. Or it was until Clyw decided to use more magic and conjured a spectral hand to pet the fierce giant Hyenas laying there minding their own business up until now. The effect was two fold. Firstly the huge beast so rudely awakened by the disembodied claw appearing from nowhere to scratch at its ears jumped out of its skin then enraged began to pull at its chain trying to savage its would be tormentor, his cohort joining in the fun and straining to escape his chain to attack. The second was to enrage the Gnoll chief, already short on patience having warned these cretins about sneaking and witching, into a frenzy! They were lucky to only be shown the door with dire warnings that if they were still infesting the seaside outpost by midnight that a grizzly gate would await them.
Returning to the Mer Shunnan temple and the little secret door, they turned north. The passage soon turned cold and then freezing. Alcoves to either side seemed to harbour their own ice storms but Earendil cunningly deduced that these were creatures of the elemental planes and talked to them briefly before roasting them with his fire magic! The Ice Mephits put up a token resistance but the party made swift work of the partially defrosted imps. They had learned from them however that somewhere ahead lay an enchanted blade that the Green Emperor and his priests were keen to keep hidden...
We will rejoin them here next week.

Review of session 17 (Tuesday 5th June 2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Kentheconfused and Xandor the wizard (for end of session)
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven

Events from 13:30 19/9/4447 to 20:30 19/9/4447

What can I say but our guys done good.
It waited like a great bloated DM spider with anticipation for the characters to fly with fear from the Barbed Devils I’d set to guard the magical sword Ashrune. I may even have dribbled a little in anticipation. But I was undone. The fearless Earendil and Thebia boldly set to dragging a reluctant Clyw through the dangerous Fiend filled chambers until the enchanted blade was in their hands. Even more surprising was the way they cleverly spelled their way back out. Athena & Mitra were both smiling upon them this day.
Finally checking the southern path they discovered the body of a recently dead wizard. Taking from him clues to a conspiracy, his spell book and his miraculous folding boat. The later they loaded up with treasure and sailed it north into Targnol Port Just as the September sun was setting.

The Clue Scroll.

Master, I will see a copy of this report gets to Wrench at the Boatman's Tavern. He can get it to Lareth at the gatehouse easily from there (If those wretched frogs don't get him!) and thence to you at Caer Cadwen. The map you gave me was accurate, though Gnolls lurk in the ruins above I was able to find the secret entrance and gain access to the sanctum as you had guessed. Alas I could get only a short way in. I was attacked by foolish Ice Mephits which I destroyed with ease but the next chamber was not so simple. The Priests have bound a Devil there and my magic was unable to penetrate their wards. I could not risk battling the monster physically so will take the boat to Targnol Port and seek bravos to aid me once I rest up. It would seem you were right as always. The cursed Mer Shunna really don't want the sword found! Your Servant Papak Amanj Praise be to the Natchai!

Review of session 18 (Tuesday 12th June 2018)

Players and their characters
Genghisdon with Earendil of Mitra
Bochi playing Alkaia the Sea Rune Amazon Ranger
Dreamteam playing Clyw a Rogue from the CSIO
Icemaiden and Thebia, Amazon Paladin of Athena from Highhaven

Events from 20:30 19/9/4447-17:00 20/9/4447

The parties arrival in the harbour did not go without notice and the agents of Natch-Ur set to work to entrap the ones who had returned in their master's magical ship. But that was for later...
Seeking out the Star of the West our guys and gals booked in to the luxury accomodation and enjoyed the pampering. They dined with captain Matteus and arranged to sell him their loot. They also heard rumours concerning a flying iron kettle, seen over the city that day and of a possible shop where arcane supplies could be purchased (the latter been a set up by the Natchai Cult leader Hamid Hasham who had tailed the group here).
After a suitably relaxed breakfast they booked their rooms for another night and set out to find the various bits and pieces they desired. Finally ending up in Black Lotus Street and falling into the trap, where they were attacked by cultists of Natch-Ur, including a fearsome bererker.
The gals got the fight off to a good start, resisting the Command Spell of the leader and things went down hill for the baddies after that. A clever spell from Clyw saw the Bererker rolling around in laughter rather than frothing at the mouth and after gathering information from him, he too was dispatched. They searched the area and made good their escape. Clyw taking the magical obsidian dagger that Earendil detected and the Cleric of Mitra the red metal half plate armour.
They casually gathered the last of the supplies they needed before meeting back at the 'Star'for another evening of the finest luxury that money can buy in Port Targnol.
Until next week.
