Talislanta: Origin of the setting's name? (split from: Thinking aloud about exotic names)

Talislanta developed from the 1983 RPG The Arcanum, also known as The Atlantis Trilogy.

The etymology should be clear.

Yep :

« The Druas are similar in form to the Ariane of Talislanta, and according to one origin story came from a land called Talislantis which sunk under the sea.»

Good to know!
I don't know why I was convinced that it came from "Talis Landa", i.e. "That land", in Latin(ish)...

Yeah, Atlantis <-> Talislanta (Al Atlantis). Sort of like how 'Torchwood' is Doctor Who re-arranged.

In Atlantis, the Druas came from Talislanta (which sunk beneath the sea) and in Talislanta, the Ariane Druas are rumored to have come from another dimension.

So, chicken egg thing going on with circular time and causality.
