Have you played this game?

I'm looked at the free PDFs and read the interview with the author. Sounds like a very interesting place.
More so because I'm a fan of Jack Vance's books. My question is which edition should I play?
Currently I'm looking at the 4E. Seems rather complete.
What are the big differences between editions?

I suggest that you read the Talislanta materials in chronological order to get a real feel of the setting, starting with Chronicles of Talislanta. I am an old D&D-type, so my preferred edition is 2nd edition house-ruled, taking what I want from later editions. 4th edition is a good starting point, though. For the magic system, you need to read the Archaen Codex. Even if you only use 4th and 5th edition rules, you will still benefit from reading the earlier materials, as I briefly discuss in the thread below, called "Starting in Tal . . ."
Good gaming!
