Bofar looks a bit confused, Rahasia, you lost me there. Do you mean that we should first go down there?. He points the tunnel. Or should we go somewhere else?

"I mean there was a room north of the one where my father appeared we did not visit. We should look at it before proceeding", Rahasia says. "I already met the ally your father spoke of, follow me", Hasan says.
You follow him back to the octagonal room and then west and north where you see a glittering snake-like reptile weaves back and forth. The creature speaks in Elvish!
"I am Ular-Taman, created by Elyas long ago. I guard the entrance to the ruins of Elyas’ tower. The Rahib discovered the tower, and I fought a terrible battle with him and his panthers. I was wounded, but managed to drive the Rahib out. Rahasia’s father helped me recover my strength and in return, I am guarding Rahasia’s father’s treasure until it is claimed for her. I have also the black jade ring, Hasan. The other part is above us. If you find it, I will tell you more. You will need it against them, the Rahib was just a pawn".

Assuming Rahasia or one of the elves translate, Lucius says: Tower? Which tower? And who is this Elyas?

Ulan Tamar replies:
Image
Many generations ago, a wizard, called Elyas, visited these elven people. He asked for a place to live, where he could work in peace and solitude. Because his heart was true and he respected the elves and their customs, they gave him a place in their forest where he built a tremendous tower. For many years they helped him and he protected and taught them, for his magic and learning was vast. Their friendship with Elyas was passed from father to son, until even Elyas grew old. Then disaster struck. Three horrible witches attacked his tower. They sought a magical gem Elyas and the elves guarded, - the Black Opal Eye - for its power could make them almost invincible. None of the witches dared face Elyas alone, but together they were very powerful. In a fiery battle, they called down a gray mountain to crush Elyas. As the mountain slammed down onto his tower, Elyas drew the witches inside it, where he trapped them. Unfortunately, Elyas himself perished. In his memory, the elves began to build this temple on that mountain. Many years later a group of dwarves helped complete the temple. The temple became a place of quiet meditation and learning.
Many young elves spend a year here as students, known as Siswa. Now, this mountain is known as the Gray Mountain. The Rahib somehow acted for the witches, and I believe two of them may already be awake in the lower levels, possessing the bodies of Rahasia's friends. And the Rahib needed Rahasia for the third witch
".

Any idea on how to break the Rahib's control over the elves?

"The magic which controls the Siswa is too powerful to have been cast by the Rahib alone. I suppose the witches are the ones maintaining it. Soon they will realize you have captured the Rahib and will take control of the Siswa themselves. I cannot accompany you, I was created by Elyas to protect his tower, but you can find magic to help you among the treasure left here by Rahasia's father, and you must also retrieve the pendant in the Upper Temple. United with Hasan's ring, it can protect you from the witches' evil", Ulan Tamar says.
Hasan and Rahasia look at the maps found in the room the Rahib occupied, and discuss it with Kesh, Bellithiel and Taran.
"Elyas' tower was the ancient nucleus of the temple and can be reached from here or from the passage Bofar found - Rahasia explains - but we should go up the other stairs first, to the two levels above us, to retrieve the pendant of my father. It could be vital to defeat the witches, or we may be unable to protect us from their evil. The levels above will be full of Siswa, but maybe if we hurry they will still be confused".
In the adiacent room, Rahasia also retrieves the equipment her father left here in Ulan Tamar's rooms. There is a magical sword, some potions of healing and a staff which, she says, can turn into a great serpent ally. Hasan takes the sword and Rahasia the staff. She gives a potion of healing to Lucius and Bofar. Then you go back to the second octagonal room and up the stairs to the north, opening a trapdoor behind a great altar.
You are now in a huge natural cavern. The cavern is eightsided and 70 feet across. It is brightly lit by oil lamps on the walls. The walls rise 30 feet, then open into a great 40-foot-high metal dome. A large compass rose is carved into the floor in the center of the room. There are three doorways; one in the center of the west wall, one in the center of the east wall, and one in the center of the south wall. A raised platform juts 30 feet out from the north wall. At the back of the platform sits a 15-foot-tall clay statue of the strong man with the long beard. At the front of the platform is the altar.
"According to our stories, the statue will attack intruders, but somehow the Rahib must have prevented this", Rahasia says.

"We lost the pendant in the level above, and the stairs are to the south, - Hasan says - so I'd go there, let's hope the Siswa are still confused by the capture of the Rahib".
Rahasia nods and you open the southern door. Beyond it there is a hallway, 3 meters wide and more than 45 meters long in the east-west directions. But as soon as you open the doors, you see two huge yellowish gelatinous cubes slowly move toward you from both ends.

I don't suppose you know those two... says Lucius, backing down beyond the doors.

"I'm quite sure they won't just let us pass", Kesh says, and indeed the cubes attack. The left one lunges at Taran with a pseudopod extending from its body. The elf is hit and instantly paralyzed. The other tries to attack Hasan, but he parried the blow and strikes back. Bellithiel and Rahasia do the same, while Benar and Baik take Taran back, leaving room for Lucius and Bofar to attack the left cube. The space in the hallway in fact is enough for only two person.

Bofar and Lucius both hit the cube, but it is rather difficult to judge how much damage their blows do, as the gelatinous body seems to absorb the hits. The cube tries to strike back, but Lucius parries with his shield. One of the elves in the meantime sends a magical darts against it, and the following blows from Lucius and Bofar destroy the cube, which suddenly melts down to liquid and it's gone.
The same happens with the other cube, dispatched by Bellithiel and Hasan. Taran is soon revived by Kesh, and you can look around.
"Both ends of this hallway have teleports, but I do not recall exactly where they lead. Beyond the doors in front of us there are the Siswa halls and the stairs up. If we pass dressed as them we may be able to go", Hasan says.
Rahasia nods and you open the doors. There are two Siswa armed with swords, but when Hasan nods at them they let you pass, with a mildly confused look. Behind, there is a great hall and cells for the Siswa. Some of them are there, but they do not seem to find you out of place, with the elves dressed as them and the others escorted as prisoners.
You reach safely the stair to the level above.
You find yourself in an octagonal room, 30 feet in diameter. The floor is dirt; the walls and domed ceiling are made of stone. A 2-foothigh platform covers the far half of the room. A set of stairs leads downward on each side of the platform. In the center of the platform rests a statue of a man sitting with his legs crossed. He appears very strong and has a long beard. The statue is 15 feet tall. While you look around from behind the statue two big gargoyles come out. The stone creatures attack you sweeping from above. One of them hits Benar and Kepala, sending both Rahasia's friends to the ground. The other attacks both Lucius and Hasan, but they manage to parry the blows, which shakes their shields.

The gargoyle against you parries the blows of Bofar and Hasan, but not Lucius' sword, which severs one of its legs. The gargoyle seems more furious than in pain and attack again, sending Hasan far back into the room, and hitting Lucius with brute force on the shield. The Thyatian warrior loses his shield and is down on his knees, shaking and hurt, but still alive.
The other gargoyle is hit by Taran and Kesh, but not heavily damaged for now. The creature punches Taran hard, sending him down to the floor. Bellithiel, Rahasia and others rush to help Kesh, while two magical darts and one arrow from the other elves hit the gargoyle against Lucius and Bofar, which however does not fall. Bechak of Rahasia's friends comes also to the first line to help you.

Kesh and the others fight the gargoyle and hit it a couple of times, but the creature is not down yet. It tries to hit Kesh but the gnome avoid the blow. Other elves hit it with arrows, but the stone creature clearly can withstand such blows easily. Lucius rolls away from the gargoyle, while Bofar hits it fully on the chest, cracking its stone skin. The creature is enraged and rip off the dwarf's armor with a single move, scratching and hurting him. Another magical arrow from the elves hurts it. The gargoyle seems about to fall, but is not dead yet.

Kesh and the others still fight against their gargoyle, while Bofar hits it with the hammer, but the creature parries with his arm. Lucius however hits the gargoyle in the head, breaking it. The gargoyle is finally destroyed. The others destroy the other one too. Kesh and Suchi then tend to the wounded and soon you are able to go on.
You open the doors leading out and find yourselves in a courtyard with a large pool, several sheds on the right and left walls. But before you can go much further a strange creature made of water rises from the murky pool, 5 meters tall. The creature completely engulfs Lucius and Hasan, who find themselves not seeing much and incapable of breathing!

Bofar takes a few steps back and changes to crosbow. Then he starts to aim the water creature trying not to hit Lucius or Hasan.

[OC: I take it that Bofar now do not have any kind of armor after the encounter with gargoyles.]
