The PbP Paperwork thread

We're just using straight RC/BECMI. No bonus spells, sorry.

We are using General Skills and Weapon Mastery (not that WM will be kicking in for some few levels...)

No problem. I'll get my character posted and catch up on the in-chracter thread soon.

Just saw your character in the other thread - Nice! A welcomed addition to the party.

Thanks. I'll probably lighten him up a bit, make him less stoic.

Well, they are claiming to be from one of the local temples. If some passing cleric should just happen by, that might lend some credence to their bluff. (Of course, whether or not said cleric plays along is entirely up to him...)

Just sayin'....

Ok, I can play it like that. One of the reasons I wanted him to be more...loose with the morals. Ha!

I'll post tonight!

If Roland had been traveling in the area any time in the past few days' travel around Threshold, he would have heard rumors about disappearances (however wild they may be is entirely up to your devising -- players always come up with better stuff than I do anyway ;) ) Now, whether or not he knows much about the castle overlooking the lake is another story. If he didn't grow up in that immediate area, chances are he doesn't know about its "haunted" reputation, or that kids sometimes use it as a target for dares ("Bring back something from the old castle to prove how brave you are!")

I'm just throwing seeds of ideas out there. It's up to you guys to make 'em grow, or transplant your own :D

Yeah, I can work with that. I'd rather him not know anything about the castle.

Sorry to be the noob, but where are we?

Thorf's recreation of the Grand Duchy of Karameikos map can be perused here.
Threshold is a township of some 5000, nestled in a valley between the Cruth Mountains to the west, and the Altan Tepes to the north-east, commonly just called the "Black Mountains" after the color of the granite cliffs and slopes. Many of the townsfolk live within the safety of the town's walls, but there are many dozens of outlying farmsteads. A community of fishermen live along the southern shore of Lake Windrush and several hundred families of loggers live along the eastern bank of the Windrush River, opposite the town.
A closer look at the town:

Zooming out, to get the lay of the land, at about 2 miles per hex:

Tarnskeep is the ruling baron's walled manor. The Old Caves were once a lair of Bargle the Infamous, driven out by the baron's niece, Aleena and a warrior who did not give his name before moving on to adventures elsewhere.

I'll still have Roland's family's land holding somewhere in the Grand Dutchy, just nowhere in the above map. I don't want to be familiar with the area.

Great! If you already have the Karameikos Gazetteer (either digital from DnDClassics.com or a treeware version), feel free to use that material to flesh out your PC. Or just make it up whole cloth :D

Killed? No. At least, I hope not. Was hoping to see another of the PCs chime in, but it look like we'll sort of move on without him....

re: Treaure

I prefer to roleplay treasure distribution. I am not a fan of "each person gets what works for them". I like the ability to make deals, argue about items, etc.

In lieu of RP, I like to use a queue approach. This entails establishing an order where the character/player at the top of the order gets first pick of items. If he/she picks something, he/she moves to the bottom of the order. A player can choose to not choose and can be first to pick next time around.

What do you guys think?

Does not matter to me. Of course, we have to find some treasure first.

Three-plus months with no posting activity. :?

I'm considering closing this game up, and maybe trying again at a later date, or restarting it with a fresh batch of players.

Thoughts? Any of you players still reading these threads?

Bueller....?
