Act 3 - New Roads
Scene II - On The Stefania, the 14th day (Thaumont, 14th 990 AC)
Carla and Adriana understand your concerns, you are still too much young to take such risks. They are willing to train you a bit in any skill they possess anyway.
Mila wants to go home as soon as possible. She doesn't really need an escort to her home village, the road is short and normally safe, but Mikel reassures her someone will accompany her home anyway.
Trark says he will continue living in Specularum and work for the church of Koryis. That will always means to oppose violents, racists and haters. Koryis is a pacifist Immortal, his followers do not use lethal weapons and believe that it is possible to resolve all problems and diatribe with dialogue. He admits however that could be particularly hard with the slavers. He would like an inclusive Karameikos, a nation willing to peacefully accept not only Traladarans and Thyatians, but also humanoids.
He says that if Taradain wants to become a good thief, he and Carla can certainly teach her something.
Mikel assures Taradain saying that probably nothing will happen "Both the Vorloi and Torenescu will guarantee for you and the Ducal authorities will not try to arrest you. I think they will not even try to arrest Tatjana, as she will certainly become a Traladaran hero for fighting the slavers. I do not particularly wish to see her in prison anyway, she spared my life during the rebellion, after all...
Fortunato says the matter of the home village is complicated. His brother Philip Vorloi and Cristoph Torenescu will probably be willing to take the matters into their own hands, but maybe they will first try to persuade the Ducal authorities to do something. To send only thyatians is a good idea, but all that will be discussed in the next days. He will inform you of any decision that will be taken however.
Carla and Adriana are willing to join with you. Indeed Mikel, Fortunato and The Thorns have the same goal in mind. Explore the Undercity and root out any slavers hideout they may find.
Trark is willing to resume the lessons any time you want and he tells to you too what said above to Taradain. Even if he doesn't use lethal weapons, he still knows one or two things about combat he can also teach to you.
"There is nothing wrong in being Thyatian - Fortunato says smiling - I mostly am and I will not forget my ancestors, even if my family has some Traladaran roots too. But we are all Karameikan now. Thyatians arrived in Traladara for the first time 90 years ago, almost four human generations ago. And even before that, Thyatians and Traladarans have been neighbours for at least 1500 years. It makes no sense to claim any Thyatian or Traladaran racial purity. Our cultures and our people are already mixed and will mix up more and more in the coming years. That's the reason why I know we will win and all those who wish to promote division and hatred will eventually lose. But it could take years, and no small amount of blood, to reach that goal. I know for sure I will work for it all my life and I welcome anyone of you who is wiling to work with me".
Trark can describe to you a bit the Church of Karameikos. The Church recognizes as main patrons Asterius, Tarastia, Vanya, Ilsundal and Kagyar. Valerias, Ixion, Patura, Protius, Diulanna, Chardastes, Halav, Khoronus, Tiresias, Wayland, Odin, Thor, Korys, Korotiku, Idraote and Carnelian are other Immortals whose clerics may theorically join the Church. With a pantheon so big, obviously the Church contains a lot of different factions, often in contrast among them.
For example, the Church is officially against slavery, but the matter is very much debated in it as Tarastia and Ilsundal are absolutely against it, but Vanya is in favor and Asterius and Kagyar have a middle position...
