I read in the rules that only get the feat if I forego adding the ability modifiers. Now, I not sure if they maen that during character creation or each time I gain levels. It was optional rule I think. I just want to know your interpretation of it.
This choice is made during character creation. A human PC can either take the "standard" +1 to all six abilities, or I've allowed the variant: +1 to two abilities, a skill or tool proficiency, and a feat during character creation.

The ability boosts at various levels are not affected by this choice, and proceed as usual. I won't be using feats during the course of the game, so taking the human variant feat is a once only choice during character creation. Also, note that your PC will be starting at 2nd level, so you can also weave any of those choices into your PC.

Part of the reason I'm using the stripped-down basic rules is so there is no need to "buy in" with the Player's Handbook, or any other barrier to entry for anyone who wishes to join the game. Plus, the module was originally written for Classic/BECMI/RC D&D, and 5b really evoked that same "feel" when I read through it.

As such, if you don't have the Player's Handbook to make a feat choice, please let me know (here, or via PM) and I'll hook you up with a list.

I think I have the 5th Edition players guide somewhere. If I do have it it's in storage and I can't get at it right now.

Not a problem. All the rules you need are in the Basic PDF. Like I said, if you'd like to go the feat route, I can provide you a list/descriptions.

Standard human gets +1 to all abilities and no feat.

Variant gets +1 to two abilities of their choice plus feat.

Both get addition score improvements OR feat at certain levels. 4,8,12,16,19 if I remember correctly.

Using the same character sheet generator Torkill13 used.....

https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Shann ... s/15469097

Shannon Wells is the name of my character and I wasn't satisfied with a lot of the choices I was given. For instance I only had two choices for Feat, and none of those was the original choice I wanted. Which was ALERTNESS, but I ended up picking GRAPPLE. Even though, that not my preferred fighting style. I also couldn't get a BOW in equipment. There were none there. So, could we assume that I have one anyway, since, I preferr to fight by ARCHERY.

The standard starting equipment should be

• (a) chain mail or (b) leather armor, longbow,
and 20 arrows
• (a) a martial weapon and a shield or (b) two
martial weapons
• (a) a light crossbow and 20 bolts or (b) two handaxes
• (a) a dungeoneer’s pack or (b) an explorer’s pack

All of that, and all standard non-magical items should be available on DDB. Perhaps it had something to do with the options you chose when building the character. If you open your sheet, go to Equipment and click Manage Equipment, you should be able to search for longbow, then click add. Same with arrows or any other equipment.

The free version of DDB doesn't have a lot of the Feats available. You are free to choose any of the feats in PHB, but you will need to manually add it to your sheet as a note or something. Just remember to manually account for any bonuses, etc. that feat might add.

Also your sheet is not public. Click the dropdown next to your character name and go to preference. The last option there will let you change it to public if you want.

I got the Hollow World boxed set, and the HWA series when they first came out, and still have them on the gaming book shelf. I got the three Hollow World Gazetteers (Azca, Milenia, Nithia) in PDF a while back.

There are no immediate plans to go Hollow World-ing. (I’m just trying to get through TC1)

I'm having problems replacing GRAPPLE with ALERTNESS.

I made my character sheet public now & added the long bow to my equipment.

Definitely going to refer you to torkill, since he knows more about D&D Beyond's workings than I do.

sadly, the free stuff does not include any way to actually add the feat to FEATS. Suggest you just note it on your sheet and add +5 to your init rolls?

Alternatively, here is a form fillable PDF character sheet. https://media.wizards.com/2016/dnd/down ... llable.pdf and you can just fill in what you need.

Looking good, Pop-Tik. However, I surely hope that your PC has more than a single hit point :o I'll leave the choice of how you wish to advance hit points up to you: either take the average per level, or roll for it. Whichever method you choose, though, you'll stick with thereafter.

You'll also want to look at background, bonds, ideals, and flaws.

Some other things to think about: Where is your PC from? How did he get to Threshold? What has he been doing since he got there?

..oh! And don't forget to roll for your trinket! (Basic PDF, pp. 56-57)

I have rewritten all my character info on one of those highly printable character sheets. How do I share it?

Roll Sheet.....

http://unseenservant.com/default.asp?do ... ts&pc=6799

I did the same as Torkill13 again.

BTW, how much and what stuff can I own without spending starting money on it?

Go ahead and pick your equipment, and then roll for starting funds, on page 45 of the Basic Rules PDF. (5d4x10 gp) At second level, your PC has recouped his losses, plus a bit extra

I done this already (120 gold pieces.) and was wondering if I should try paying for all that stuff.

So, I recouped my losses and a got abit extra......how much would that be?

Basically, your equipment is free, and you keep your initial starting funds. Makes things easier in the long run.
