Sarûnia: Updates

Postby Angel Tarragon » Wed Jun 30, 2010 7:40 am

This needs to be updated to garner a better feel for the new intention of the setting.

Blast the doors of fantasy wide open! Imagine a world not too unlike Earth set in the Gothic Era, now throw in magic and envision the world experiencing an arcane renaissance. Technomagical devices replicate some modern technology and basic governmental strictures within some lands make it mandatory to provide an education to the masses. Among the topics of things taught is arcane theory; those which can wrap their minds around it can benefit from the use of cantrips by selecting a feat that allows it. The civilized lands is just one part of the world though.

Vast tracks of wilderness remain unspoiled and steaming jungles and forests can be found aplenty. The wilderness teems with life, not just sentient life that lives in harmony with nature, but also primordial life; serpents, scalykind and triassic terrors. This world has not suffered from any extinction level events and these life forms have been evolving for millennia. There are many sentient reptilian races that have evolved from prehistoric life forms. There was once a grand empire that spanned the known world that fell into decadency and in its wake lies ruins ripe for plundering and trepidations best not trifled with.

The civilized world and the primordial lands are in an ever constant battle to remain dominant.

I'm glad to see this - I found you on Facebook a week or so ago. :)

I hadn't realised this was based on an alternate earth - what sort of maps are you using?

I'm sure others would love to see detailed descriptions of the various races, I'd love to see a map showing the various political entities that currently exist.

I know what you mean, often it is more fun than the actual game itself.

Locations: Neverwhere Island (A work in progress)

Postby Angel Tarragon » Thu Sep 23, 2010 1:48 am

Neverwhere Island
This small island (one mile from shore to shore) floats about the XXX Ocean/Sea (yet to be named). The isle has no unique native race, but is home to a small suburban village named Klorelville. Many races of all different types call Neverwhere Island home and many of those here are by sheer luck. As an island that floats on the sea, it attracts the attention of people and creatures whose ship has been capsized or met an unfortunate fate and sea dwelling races that eye it. For some reason the island can float out towards where the deep ocean starts but never beyond, the reasons for this unknown. The island moves with the tide and though the sea can be harsh and unkind, it never suffers from terrible weather that might otherwise turn it upside down or be thrown by a hurricane in some random direction. The isle suffers the byproducts of this ill weather, but always manages to stay afloat in whichever place it may be.

more forthcoming later....

The inspiration for this paragon path came from True Blood, watching Sookie's powers become more powerful and the revelation near the end of the season.

I`ve never seen the series but I`ve read most of the books. Any idea how close the show is to the books?

Never read the books myself, but from what I've read on the net that the books are inferior to the show.
