Freeport using 5E

In anticipation of the column that I'm writing about using The Book of the Righteous with Freeport, I've decided to start a new thread here to pull together my other thoughts on running Freeport with D&D Fifth Edition. (This way, my future posts about the subject won't get lost in the endless tangential postscripts to my "Winds of Freeport" campaign thread. )

I've written a number of older columns for my "Studded Plate" blog about combining Freeport and 5E, and intend to write a good deal more, in the hopes that someday I will get to use this material in a future campaign. Here is the list to date:
I'll update this list as I add more.

That's really going to help 5th Edition fans that like Freeport.

You are like the Michael Knight of Freeport. ;)

That's a very...unusual...compliment, but as a child of the '80s, I can appreciate it as it was meant.

Hey, Tim...do have any insight as to whether or not Green Ronin will publish a 5E Freeport Companion?

This is from the Ronin Army forums from May 2017, in response to my and another member's queries:
Fildrigar wrote:Because we recently did several giant Pathfinder products with Freeport, we wanted to hold off on a D&D 5e version. ( And keep our Freeport line focussed on Pathfinder. ) We do reevaluate these types of decisions every year at the summit.
The summit he refers to is Green Ronin's annual staff meeting/retreat, where (among other things) they hash out plans for the coming year's new releases. This year's summit was just this past weekend, but it will be some time yet before they go public with any decisions they made there. So even if Harrimast smiles upon us and GR decided to do a 5E Freeport Companion for 2018, I wouldn't expect any announcements about it for a few months, at least (possibly in Chris Pramas's annual "state of the Ronin" letter in January).

Also, one of the Kickstarter rewards for the Pathfinder Freeport book was a Fantasy AGE Freeport Companion. I'm guessing that's been delayed in part due to the same concerns Fildrigar mentioned. I'd expect to see that before a 5E book, just because AGE is their in-house system, and they're still promoting and expanding it pretty actively (Blue Rose earlier this year, Fantasy AGE Companion later this year, and and Modern AGE and 1-2 licensed settings next year).

This just went up on the blog, so I'll add the link to the list:

The Book of the Righteous and the World of Freeport: Put even more Green Ronin goodness into your Freeport game! Using the gods and churches detailed in The Book of the Righteous can make the City of Adventure an even richer setting than it already is.

2017 in Review: The Blog: An overview of ongoing series of articles on my blog, including 5E. (Of most interest to Freeport fans: I recently acquired Volo's Guide to Monsters and Xanathar's Guide to Everything, so will be posting columns about using them with Freeport in the next few months.)

I borrowed the Sword Coast Adventurer's Guide from my local library, and just finished reading it and writing a first draft of a column about using that book with Freeport. It will have to go into the queue after the Volo's and Xanathar columns, and keeping caught up on my session summaries for Yawning Portal (which I resumed running for my family last month). My recent 5E binging has really paid off, because I now have enough columns in the can to post one a week through the end of February, plus a couple more in progress. :ugeek:
