Freeport in 2020 and Beyond
There's an interesting bit of news in Freeports annual start-of-the-year preview about the future of the Freeport setting:
"So this year you will get Return to Freeport and short fiction from Nisaba Press. We’ve collected last year’s Freeport stories into a short anthology called Dark Currents, which is available now. More Freeport fiction will appear in Nisaba Journal throughout the year. Then next year we’ll be doing a big re-launch for Freeport with a different rules system. Stay tuned for more news about that!"
Anyone have thoughts on what the new rules system will be?

Re: Freeport in 2020 and Beyond
I'm almost certain that it will be AGE. A Freeport Companion for AGE is the one outstanding stretch goal reward from the Freeport: City of Adventure (Pathfinder Edition) Kickstarter. And I know through social media that Pramas has run some Fantasy AGE adventures set in Freeport on and off over the past year or two.
I believe that the main reason that the book has been delayed so long is that while Green Ronin has Freeport experts and AGE experts, there's no significant overlap between those two groups except Pramas himself--who as president of the company, rarely gets to do as much design work as he'd like.
If I only knew the AGE system better, I'd be breaking down the door to help work on it...

And the KS update I received last night confirms that the AGE Freeport Companion is being worked on, and we'll see something later this year. Huzzah!

Are you planning to use it as source material for your 5e conversion? Or are you going to play it using Fantasy Age?

Re: Freeport in 2020 and Beyond
It probably won't be very useful for my 5E conversion, given how different the AGE rules are from d20. Once it's out, however, I will be very torn over which system to use for my next Freeport campaign...

Re: Freeport in 2020 and Beyond
I have mixed feelings about this. I'm not sure if I want to acquire and learn a new game just so that I can keep up with new Freeport material--especially since I'm sitting on a year's worth of adventures from the Return to Freeport series.

Huh? What are we talking about? I'm getting a bunch of old stuff coming up on Google, when I search for Freeport and Kickstarter.
Does anyone have a link to the preview?
How about the Kickstarter?
EDIT: I just found this: Green Ronin in 2019! Part 1: The Expanse, Nisaba Press, Freeport, and Blue Rose:
Chris Pramas at Green Ronin wrote:Freeport
Last week we started the pre-order for Return to Freeport, a six-part scenario that is the biggest addition of adventure content for the setting in more than a decade. Since 2013 our Freeport releases have used the Pathfinder rules and Return to Freeport follows suit. As you’ve likely heard, however, a second edition of Pathfinder is coming this summer and while we wish our pals at Paizo the best, we aren’t going to support the new edition.
Does this mean the Freeport line is ending? Hardly! Freeport is our oldest setting, first seen in the Origins and ENnie Award-winning adventure Death in Freeport back in 2000. 2020 is thus both Green Ronin’s and Freeport’s 20th anniversary and you better believe we have some plans.
So this year you will get Return to Freeport and short fiction from Nisaba Press. We’ve collected last year’s Freeport stories into a short anthology called Dark Currents, which is available now. More Freeport fiction will appear in Nisaba Journal throughout the year. Then next year we’ll be doing a big re-launch for Freeport with a different rules system. Stay tuned for more news about that!

Hey, for anyone skeptical, AGE is a really fun system and worth playing!

This is great news. I've never bought any Freeport products but now that they are switching to the AGE system I'll consider it. My experience with Modern AGE was interesting and fun.

Re: Freeport in 2020 and Beyond
The update I received went to backers of the PF edition of Freeport: The City of Adventure (which was done a few years ago now, so that may be why you're getting no recent hits). There was no specific date, and AFAIK, there hasn't been a announcement to the general public yet.
