Inspirations for Al-Qadim

I'm a bit of fan and would love to see what you guys draw on for inspiration for your games.

I guess I'll start with the old Aladdin tv show which practically can give you a plot from just about any one of the episodes.

I don't think I have heard of the Aladdin TV show. I'll have to check that out.

Do you mean this Disney animated Aladdin series?

I suspect that's the one. It provided lots of Al Qadim fodder when I was running games in the '90s.

At my local used book store yesterday I found The Harem of Aman Akbar; I'll let you know how it is. So far it's comical and fun.

The Prince of Persia games. The movie was rather disappointing though.

Glen Cook's The Fire in His Hands and With Mercy Toward None (the prequels to the Dread Empire trilogy, collected as A Fortress in Shadow).

That's a really good point!

The rest of the Dread Empire series would be useful as well. There's less detail, but there's some. The actual Dread Empire itself would be useful in an OA campaign.
